according to Jason Shreier TF3 morphed into this. There were working on titanfall 3 and scrapped that for this.

Well there are multiple reasons (obviously this doesn't encompass all free games).
- This is seemingly replacing Titanfall 3
- EA is the publisher so that doesn't leave me confident
- I despise Lootboxes as a business model and it's sad to see another franchise use them
- It's not clear how this might affect the future of the Titanfall series
I don't think anybody is complaining that we are getting a free game. What people are upset about is the effect this might have on Titanfall as a whole.
So yeah, people should give this a fair shot so they can at least make educated criticisms instead of just blind salt. I don't think it's unreasonable to be upset though.

TF2 was incredible but didn't sell well. It's not surprising they need to pivot.

My thinking is that this is a mindshare play and that Titanfall 3 is the next game Respawn makes after the Star Wars game.

Game is really quite good and feels really polished. Don't like most of the character designs, but everything else is top-notch.
Also it's cool how you can play any mode whilst it's still downloading, the textures just look like shit. Better than waiting around doing nothing though.

I don't play Battle Royale games but been watching Shroud and DrDisrespect play this and it looks pretty damn good and polished.
It's like they took elements of Overwatch and BR games and added stuff those games needed and removed certain annoying gameplay things or even social stuff such as lobbies, voice chat from people other than your party, etc..
I also find it hilarious the only playable white male character is literally named "Caustic" and is actually a "TOXIC" white male, I think Respawn must have a glorious sense of humor.

i hope so brother, but honestly its highly doubtful. if the game is a success TF3 wont happen as they will focus all their efforts into this and if its a failure EA will blame the IP and TF3 would still not happen.

I played a few matches today. I'm a little ambivalent about it- if you're at all familiar with BR games, everything will look pretty familiar to you. There are a few differences, you get to pick characters like in Overwatch or Rainbow 6... but personally I didn't find the game that compelling. I don't really see this dethroning fortnite. And I don't think the gunplay is as good as COD Black Out personally.

Just played for about 5h on base PS4.
This game is a blast, holy shit. The map is awesome, traversal is quick and fun, the gunplay is fenomenal, as expected. This is easily the best Battle Royale for me.
Got 2 wins, some #2 place too. I'll definitely buy something to support Respawn.

Still sucks they removed the double jumps and wallrunning. It could have easily worked and made the game stand out, like titanfall multiplayer did, instead of being another cod with oh boy a slide and a grapling hook maybe.

The grappling hook is absolute garbage now. Especially without the momentum and double jump that Titanfall 2 had. It is so sad.

The characters are really Meh to me... BUT the gunplay feels so good and the game just looks so fantastic. I find it hard to hate the game. Not a fan of the class system but I guess I guess why they put it in there. It kinda is the IN thing at the moment and what not.

there's a couple other cool additions that other games are missing imo
respawning as you mentioned, pinging things (enemies, weapons, items, etc..) and auto dropping with your party are all nice touches

Shroud is a fucking legend but I prefer watching people like TSM Viss and even DougisRaw.
Viss has a good following and averages a few thousand viewers. Doug is pretty small but he’s really good. His biggest claim to fame is he’s friends with Doc and plays with him and he had the solo kill record on console during the Blackout beta.

I could mention some of the better Titanfall you tubers, but I have no idea if they're going to get into this game or not. If some of them put out some videos soon, I'll be sure to post them.

I typically hate the BR genre with Fortnite being the absolute worst POS I've ever tried. But I like Apex Legends. I think I like it a lot. I suck at it for sure but I love the gunplay and the polish of it all. Respawn are pros at this and I think this game will succeed, not only because it's free but because it's so fun to play right out of the gate. I'm playing a basic model PS4 and getting 60fps. The ping and respawn system also make this game unique to other games in the genre. I can point at basically anything and send a voiced message to my team mates with a simple press of a button. And the loot boxes and other MTX isn't too predatory either. Yeah you can buy them with real money but you earn a box with with each level up. Pretty much all of the other cosmetics can be purchased in game too or with money. So far so good Respawn. Time will tell if EA gets greedy of course but right now the game is damn good.

do you have an old cpu? i'm running at a pretty stable 3440x1440 @ 120 fps on a 7700k and 1080ti. most things are medium
