Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.
Another year, another 52 game challenge! You can do it, I have faith in you. You've trained for this moment your whole life. All the glory is just within your grasp.

How do I know when I've completed a game?
That's up to you, it could be completing the game or playing 10hrs+ if it has no ending or a MP game. You can do replays, as long as all the games are completed in 2019.

Do I have to record time?
No.

Do I have to review or comment on the games I complete?
No but it'd be nice to give a few words or maybe a quick score. Full blown mini-reviews aren't necessary.

Do episodic games count as a single game or X amount of games?
That's up to you. It's alright to count something like Life is Strange as one or five games. Your choice.

Can I finish a game I started in 1984 and count that?
Yes. Especially if it's Punch Out.

What should I do once I've completed the challenge?
Send me a PM with a link to your post (or posts) that shows all the games you've completed this year.

Do board games / card games / tabletop games count?
They do not.

Is there a deadline?

Sign me up. I can hopefully bash out some quick Indie games this year because my clearance rate was dire last year

Completed: -

1: Machinarium

I actually beat the game when it first came out, but of course, they added the Steam achievements later on, so it was worth a revisit to finally put it to bed and get that 100%. Gamewise it's pretty charming however I would say some of the puzzles are a pretty obtuse and there's a lot of trial and error to things. Towards the end, there's a musical puzzle that had someone as tone deaf as you're truly reaching for a walkthrough. Still decent game by Amanita Design.

2: Deponia

I actually bought the complete journey (ironic given they released Deponia: Doomsday recently) and it had been sat in my backlog for a while. Either way added it to my 52 games list and figured I'd tick it off. I'm counting each part as it's own separate game. Either way, kind of amusing point & clicker although the puzzles aren't necessarily all that obvious and there's a lot of clicking random items on random items to get a result.

3: Chaos on Deponia

Wrapped up part 2 of the Deponia Trilogy. Have to say albeit quite enjoyable with some decent gags, though some of the puzzles require are out and out moon logic, and achievement hunters are recommended to use a walkthrough because some of them are extremely hard to get without forwarning.

4: Goodbye Deponia

Finally got around to finishing the last of the Deponia Trilogy. Overall pretty enjoyable though I do feel like Rufus is a bit like Wyle Coyote in that his plans never seen to quite come tother. Last Part is definitely a long one though thankfully not quite as arduous as the second when it comes to the achievements. Now onto Deponia Doomsday...

5: Life is Steange 2: Episode 2

I'm going to be breaking this one down into parts because given the 4-month delay between episodes 1 & 2 I fear Dontnod might struggle to get this one completed by the years end. It was clear from the episode itself this was intended to probably come out before Christmas given the time period of events. Regardless though at 4 hours, it was a bit of a whopper as far as these sort of episodes go. I'm still in the process of digesting it all, but for the most part, it avoided a lot of the criticisms of the first episode and built on the characters in terms of them both coming to terms with what had occurred in Episode 1 and building on it. Somer of the beats were a little obvious, some less so.

In process: -

1: Starlight Drifter - 5 Hours

A Sci-fi based Visual Novel game I picked up during early access that's been sat in my backlog for a while. Has a bit of the mass effects/Fire Flys about it. Everything so far has been a matter of choices.

Abandoned: -

1: System Crash - 27 Hours

Cyberpunk Card Game. A pretty buggy game tbh. Mechanistically it's great, but it keeps crashing out at certain points the play. Thankfully it tends to do a good job of not really losing progress, but still highly annoying given it's a bit of a crapshoot as to whether it's going to run or not., I'm far enough in now that I might as well see it through, but it's frustrating. I'm actually going to set this aside. The's a fun game in there somewhere, but the more I progress the more stability has been an issue and the crashes are so random now it's really sucking the joy out of playing. I may return to it, but right now it makes sense to just call it a day and invest my play time elsewhere.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.
Game 1 - Dungeon Village - Nintendo Switch - Completed Jan 1st, 2019
I started playing this game a few days ago but finished it a bit after midnight on Jan 1st. I've played the Android version before but I felt like the Switch controls really made this a much more enjoyable experience. Although the game continues on after you've "finished" it more or less forever, I wish there were some better end-game content that wasn't just progressively harder enemies. The game reminds me a lot of idle games or clickers so it's definitely a bit disappointing to see that it only really goes on til the 15 years in-game is finished without much variety after that. Took about 4 hours to complete.

Game 2 - Donut County - Nintendo Switch - Completed Jan 1st, 2019
I recently played Katamari Reroll and this looked like it was right up my alley. I felt like this game had a lot of charm but it almost felt like a tech demo more than a full game. The segments with the hole were really innovative and fun, I wish they could have gone on a bit longer. My favorite part of Katamari was rolling up the whole world and this game didn't have the same type of satisfying conclusion. Still a really interesting and quirky game though, just not at all what I was expecting.

Game 3 - Kirby Star Allies - Nintendo Switch - Completed Jan 2nd, 2019
I started playing this a few months ago and have been playing a few levels here and there for the past few months. I had a hard time getting into the game because it had nearly zero difficulty. By the time I finished the game, I had over 100 extra lives and my team was mostly "specials" that essentially just did all the work for me. I liked a few of the platforming elements, but this game wasn't nearly as good as Planet Roboto, not by a long shot. Still an enjoyable game, but I have a hard time recommending it to anyone given it's full $60 price tag.

Game 4 - Assassin's Creed Odyssey - Xbox One - Completed Jan 10th, 2019
I put over 100 hours into the newest Assassin's Creed, and I have no regrets about that. The game is excellently suited to playing in bite size chunks but really shines in longer playing sessions. While a lot of the quests feel like MMO fare, I found the world of Greece to be interesting enough and full of interesting characters that I hardly cared that I was running fetch quests most of the time. I feel like I started playing at just the right time, since by the time I got to level 50 they increased the level cap to 70, and by the time I got to level 70 they added an update for mastery levels. I completed every quest, unlocked every achievement (except the one glitched one), and had about 100 pieces of legendary equipment I had upgraded to level 70. Amazing game, now I'm just patiently waiting for all the DLC to release before jumping back in.

Game 5 - Picross S2 - Nintendo Switch - Completed Jan 13th, 2019
Picross continues to be a favorite of mine, and although Picross S2 wasn't really anything special it still had a lot of good and challenging puzzles. The value here was really good since I added it up and spent about 22 hours on the puzzles which is pretty decent for an $8 game. I'll definitely be picking up Picross S3 if / when it releases. My only real complaint would be the lack of using the Switch's touch-screen controls, since coming from the 3DS Picross games it was a pretty obvious and jarring omission. I've gotten used to the Switch controls though between S and S2, so not really a huge gripe at this point. I guess now for my Picross fix, I'll have to get that silly looking Chibi-style Picross game.

Game 6 - Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of DANA - Nintendo Switch - Completed Feb 8th, 2019
I loved this game to bits, although there were several parts that got a little slow. I'll admit to this game taking me nearly a year to beat, on account that I think I put it away (twice) for other games though I kept coming back to it. The game definitely isn't a looker (it was originally a Vita game, so) it looked alright and played great on the Switch. I loved the "trapped on a deserted island, must escape to survive" aspect that the game started with, but it definitely took some unexpected twists and turns. Was level 83 by the time I beat the game, with 97.425% of the map completed. I saved the clear data (about 42 hours) but I doubt I'll go back and mop up any of the post-game stuff. Great game, highly recommended for fans of the series.

Game 7 - Mario Party 2 - Wii U (Virtual Console) - Completed Feb 13th, 2019
My kids and I have been playing a lot of Mario Party 2 on the Wii U VC. The game is as much total bullshit as ever, but the mini-games are interesting (thanks Hudson soft) and the boards are varied enough to keep things interesting. I played the cowboy board and just generally had a fun time playing. Way better than Mario Party 1 and slightly better than 3 as I feel like that game went a bit down hill. Surprisingly fun even today, though the Wii U's BC and upscaling helped a lot in those regards - as well as saving me from having to hook up my old N64 and dust off the cartridge (which I still have)!

Game 8 - Crackdown 3 - Xbox One - Completed Feb 18th, 2019
I started playing this as part of my Game Pass subscription, and I have to say I had a lot of fun with the game despite all the negative reviews it got. Sure, it's pretty simple and doesn't really feel like a "next gen" game, but it felt a lot like Crackdown 1 (which I really liked) so I was happy with it especially for the price. By the end of the game I had done pretty much everything except those bullshit platforming towers. Earned a lion's share of the available achievements, and I'm pretty happy with where I left the game. My only complaint was that it was a little short, since it only took me about 10 hours to complete. I also loved Terry Crews in this, his role was a lot of fun.

Game 9 - Assassin's Creed Unity - Xbox One - Completed Feb 24th, 2019
This was a pretty poor way for me to follow up the amazing Assassin's Creed Odyssey, with probably the weakest entry in the series I've played so far. But it was one of a handful of AC games I haven't beat before, so here we are. While I loved Syndicate, it's setting and characters etc, I felt like Unity was like a beta version of that game. The parkour was particularly terrible and I often found myself taken out of the game to be frustrated with the controls. I was able to finish the game, somewhat reluctantly, and completed the Dead Kings DLC, but overall the game was a pretty big disappointment.

Game 10 - LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2 - Xbox One - Completed Mar 10th, 2019
It's been a while since I've played any LEGO games, and I've a huge Marvel fan so I decided to pick this one up and give it a shot. The game was pretty good (not great) and I felt like the characters were captured pretty well here. One of the biggest problems with this game was sprawl - there was a huge open world hub, which was nice, but there was so much busy-work to do that I ended up completing the game with something like 35% completion. I could easily spend another 20 or so hours in this just flying around doing all the races, collecting all the characters, getting all the gold bricks, doing all the levels in free-play, etc but it all feels pretty empty outside of the story missions. The story missions were pretty good and there was a lot of variety afforded by the fact that this world was a culmination of a lot of different Marvel properties. The voice acting was really well done also, the characters personalities came through similar to their movie counterparts. Definitely recommend this game if you're a LEGO and Marvel fan.

Game 11 - New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe - Nintendo Switch - Completed Mar 27th, 2019
I've been playing this game on and off with the kids (now 18 and 21) over the past few weeks. We would usually play one world, save the game, and then come back later to play again so probably about 8 total play times over 8 weeks. My son and I played this on the Wii U a few years back, and so there weren't exactly any surprises. The game was definitely an improvement on the Switch, if for no reason other than the games controls. My daughter played as Nabbit, my son as Toad, and I was toadette. Super fun platforming game, lots of hilarity with us throwing each other off of cliffs or generally just being dicks to each other.

Game 12 - Tom Clancy's The Division - PC Uplay - Completed Apr 5th, 2019
It's been a while since I have played any PC games, but The Division was on sale for cheap (the Gold Edition was $7) and I heard it worked really well with ultrawide monitors. Playing on my RX580 at 3440x1440 was a real treat, and the monitor's Freesync capabilities made this game an absolute joy to play. It's also been a while since I've played a looter / shooter - I think the last one I played was Borderlands 2 a few years back - so it was fun to break out of my genre "comfort zone" a bit. I liked the game a lot but I found I had to approach it in a really methodical way to make a lot of progress. The game was obviously designed to be played in a squad, but I played the game solo which came with it's own set of challenges. However, once I hit level 30 the game became an absolute cakewalk which took a lot of the fun out of it. I had a lot of fun picking up the collectibles on the map, and piecing together the puzzle of what happened. I love the open-ended narrative that definitely left itself wide open for sequels. I'll probably be picking up The Division 2 when it goes on sale.

Game 13 - Parasite Eve - Playstation Classic - Completed Apr 20th, 2019
I picked up a Playstation Classic for about $25 and decided to hack it. This was the first game I put on it, and since it's been a few years since I've played through the game I thought I'd give it a go. The Playstation Classic played the game perfectly, which I was kind of surprised about. I love this game to pieces, it's a great take on the "modern RPG" and was done in Square's hayday. The game doesn't overstay it's welcome (it took me a bit over 8 hours to complete) and the RPG mechanics never get crazy - I didn't have to do much grinding. The controls were janky (as always) but the experience was pretty great overall - the game holds up really well. A fun little adventure. Now, I might have to play Parasite Eve II, because I've started that game about a dozen times but never got around to finishing it.

Game 14 - Mortal Kombat 11 - Nintendo Switch - Completed Apr 24th, 2019
I decided to pick this up for the Switch so I could play matches on the go with my son. I kinda regret that decision, since the Switch port of this game turned out to be not so great, and the Xbox port turned out to be flawless. Oh well, I predominantly picked this up for the story mode, which I completed this morning. The story mode in this game was pretty good, though Ronda Rousey's acting was pretty cringe. I liked nearly all of the characters, and the story mode gives you a pretty good opportunity to play as nearly everyone in four or five fights and get to know their moveset a bit before moving on to the next fighter, which is a pretty good way of introducing you to each. It's a technical marvel that they got this running so well on the Switch - the pre-rendered cut scenes look great (of course) but the texture quality really took a dive when the battles started and it was quite jarring. There was also something funky going on with the character's hair, some sort of AA problem perhaps. Also I'm gonna be skipping the Krypt and all the grinding that goes along with that, because it's kind of a mess. I'll probably pop in and play some of the towers at some points here or there when the mood to play a fighting game strikes me. Can't say I'd recommend this game at full price just for the story mode, but there is a lot of other content to mow through (as well as online play, which isn't really my jam either) to keep you busy.

Game 15 - Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition - Nintendo Switch - Completed May 2nd, 2019
This is actually the first Tales game I've beaten, despite having started a half dozen or so of them (including this one, when it was out on the Xbox 360). I loved the art style, animations, characters, and pretty much everything about this game. I put nearly 70 hours into it, and got my party members up to level 95ish before beating the game. Aside from the story (which was excellent) I found all of the sidequests and side content a lot of fun to explore as well - monster hunting, cooking, synthesis ingredient searching, all that. The skill system was pretty similar to Final Fantasy IX's "learn from your equipment" system and I enjoyed that a lot. However, I wish that skills could have been learned from armor instead of just weapons and side-weapons, but that's a pretty minor nitpick. I thought the voice acting was a lot of fun - even playing in English! Overall, a really solid experience that had a pretty winding narrative. This has had me interested in maybe trying a few other Tales games I haven't played - I have Zesteria on PC and Berseria on PS4 and it might be worth taking a look at those.

Game 16 - Chocobo's Mystery Dungeon: Every Buddy - Nintendo Switch - Completed May 15th, 2019
I thought this would be a fun short distraction and the game actually turned into Dark Souls: Final Fantasy edition. Chocobo Dungeon games are rogue-likes that have pretty punishing death mechanics where you keep your EXP and JP, but lose all of your found/equipped items, which lets you slowly build up power over time while trying to get an item build that decent enough to do some real damage or take a beating. I spent around 30 hours on this game, and I'd say at least 20 of that was in the last two dungeons which were massive. While the game definitely a budget title (as it's a port of a Wii game), I'd say there is enough entertainment and side content available that the price feels justified. The real standout of the game is it's music which consists of remixed tracks from other games in the Final Fantasy franchise (at least up to IX). I would really only recommend this game for ultra-fans of Final Fantasy or fans of rogue-likes that don't get frustrated when you step on a hidden trap that instantly kills you and causes you to lose an hour of progress.

Game 17 - The Walking Dead: The Final Season - Xbox One - Completed May 18th, 2019
I've been a huge fan of The Walking Dead ever since I won a copy of the first game on NeoGAF for Steam and played through it. Every episode feels like (and takes about as much time to play as) a movie, so a series usually takes about 10 hours to complete, and this game was no exception. The first game kinda turned me on to Telltale games in general, and I ended up enjoying a huge number of their games before they closed up shop. That being said, the last two episodes of this game were far and away better than the first two and really had a huge emotional impact. I felt like the ending of this game was extremely satisfying and very bitter sweet. Highly recommended if you enjoyed the other games in the series. Shame it's the end, I'd love to see more of these being made and I'd definitely play them.

Game 18 - Yoshi's Crafted World - Nintendo Switch - Completed May 19th, 2019
I have to say I'm a little bit disappointed with the newest Yoshi game. While the visuals were excellent and really gave me the feel that I was in a make-believe crafted story land, the difficulty just never punched up. The game honestly felt like a cake walk, and about half way through the game I realized that I couldn't play more than a level or two at a time without getting bored. Some of the (optional) content where you go through the levels in reverse were a lot of fun though, and some of them even challenging due to the levels being on a timer - but the timer counts up, instead of down, and there really isn't a fail-state. Outside of the visuals though, I really didn't find a lot here to enjoy especially for the game's $60 price tag. The game has quite a bit of replayability if you're the kind of person who has to hunt down every secret though.

Game 19 - Braveland - Nintendo Switch - Completed May 22nd, 2019
I picked up the trilogy on the Switch because ports of mobile games without the IAPs like this game is usually have turned out pretty well. The game is really simplistic in it's approach to strategy, but it makes for a fun diversion. The variety of enemies you encounter was pretty varied, and the hero units you get are also diverse enough to be useful while still setting up a decent team / system to make killing the enemies a lot of fun. The leveling system (combined with finding random powerups on the map) was also well done especially when combined with the equipment system that give you a fair number of build options. Certainly not deep by any standards, but a fun game none the less.

Game 20 - Soul Blazer - Super Nintendo - Completed May 24th, 2019
This game is such an absolute treat, I try and replay it at least once every couple of years. The Enix SNES games were always so great and this is definitely one of my favorites. I played the game this time using Retro Arch on my Switch, with a wireless headset and a bluetooth wireless SN30 Pro controller. The game combines old school action RPG with some light puzzles and an amazing progressions system that still holds up 27 years later. The music is sublime as well, and the sound effects are on point. The last stage is kinda crazy considering a single enemy gives you almost as much EXP as the entire first world, but I can overlook some of those elements since the progression never seems unfair and you honestly have to go out of your way to "level grind" in this game as it's not really needed. I earned 74/81 achievements on Retro Achievements and I'm pretty satisfied with that.

Game 21 - Rock Band 4 - Playstation 4 - Completed May 25th, 2019
After having a bit of trouble with my guitar that I finally got around to fixing, I figured I should also get around to "finishing" Rock Band 4. This is a game I play probably 3-4 hours a week and have for the past couple of years. It helps me to clear my mind and also helps me to relax while rocking out - I usually jump around and sing like a mad person so I also get a bit of a workout out of it. Anyway, I've finished the Rockudrama a few times already so decided to tackle the rest of the campaign mode which I largely ignored. I'll have to say, that final set list was terrible and was kind of a slog to push through. Overall though, this game is awesome and I absolutely love it. Even though I "finished it" and am watching the credit roll right now, I know I'll just keep on playing it for a long time to come.

Game 22 - Final Fantasy XV: Pocket Edition HD - Nintendo Switch - Completed June 12th, 2019
As a fan of Final Fantasy, and Final Fantasy XV, I have to say I really enjoyed the Pocket Edition of the game. While obviously it shirks the fancy graphics of the original game, I felt like it had a lot more narrow focus of it's narrative experience. The combat felt fresh and fun, though maybe a little slow at times (possibly due to the Switch not being able to keep up?) but overall it was great fun. Some of the transitions in the game, like riding the car or riding chocobos, felt fun instead boring like it was in the original game. The banter between the boys was largely intact, and by the end of the last chapter I was literally in tears. It took me about 17 hours to complete, so I'd say it shaved off about 20-25 hours over the original, and I did all the side-quests so it could have even gone faster. Beautiful game.

Game 23 - Cadence of Hyrule - Nintendo Switch - Completed Jun 14th, 2019
I loved the idea of Crypt of the Necrodancer and Legend of Zelda getting a mashup, so I bought this game when it released. It took me about 7 hours to complete which is a little on the short side, but the game was so much fun that I can't help but recommend it even at full price. I had only played Necrodancer for a few hours years ago, so it took me a bit to get a hang of the controls. Once I did, we were off to the races. The art style and music was a great homage to A Link to the Past (my favorite Zelda game) so I found this to be a great experience. I somehow missed the flippers and about 5 heart pieces, but I think I got just about everything else. I could definitely see myself replaying this game as one of the other characters, easily.

Game 24 - Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night - PC Steam - Completed Jun 27th, 2019
Boy oh boy, this game was great. Like, really great. At first I was a bit leery because Kickstarter-backed games don't have a really solid track record for me personally. After I started playing it though, those fears melted away into pure not-Castlevania bliss. The game has so many systems in place that all work together so well that I couldn't help but just love this game to bits. The weapon system is extremely varied (and includes special moves you can master by activating them a certain number of times) and there is a great variety of armor, helmets, scarves, rings, and accessories to make whatever build you want. Combine this with a great crafting, cooking, and item system that leverages the items enemies drop - along with a "shard" system that lets you steal monster's abilities and get cool passive bonuses, and you've got a system that's complex enough to be insanely interesting and powerful but easy enough to be casually understood. The game's graphics were nothing super special but all was easily forgiven considering the above as well as the 60fps this game ran on my PC. I was pleasantly surprised by this game and for me it easily skyrocketed past Symphony of the Night to take top spot as my new favorite game in the genre.

Game 25 - TMNT Rescue Palooza - PC - Completed Jun 28th, 2019
This was a fan game that essentially set out to re-create the NES TMNT games in the SNES game style. It turned out to be so much more awesome than that though. Tons of stages, over 60 characters to unlock, original music, and a hell of a lot of charm. The extra characters all look like they come packaged in a Ninja Turtles toy from Playmates like I used to collect and love in the 90s. There aren't very many good brawlers made today, and I really enjoyed playing this because it was a huge blast from the past. Turtle power!

Game 26 - 12 Labours of Hercules VII: Fleecing the Fleece - PC Steam - Completed Jun 28th, 2019
I consider these games to be my guilty gaming pleasure and I usually finish one at least once a year. They remind me a lot of the old pop-cap games before EA bought them out and stopped making good games. While this game didn't really do anything new or different, I actually really appreciated and preferred it that way. This took me about 8 hours to complete which is a pretty decent length for a puzzle game. Now I'll have to install 12 Labours of Hercules VIII.

Game 27 - Dragon Quest Builders 2 - Nintendo Switch - Completed Aug 16th, 2019
If I fail to complete the challenge this year, I'm going to place the blame squarely on this game. With it's deceptively simple premise and addicting gameplay hook, I sunk almost 90 hours into this title without even realizing that it had been weeks since I had completed another game. While "Minecraft but with Dragon Quest" seems like an accurate description, I really liked the quest-based nature of this game. While there is quite a bit of hand-holding, the game gets pretty great when it really opens up for you to create your own stuff. And while the first Dragon Quest Builders game was a bit of a riff on the first Dragon Quest game, this one is a pretty solid riff on the second game in a lot of ways. Which has me excited for Dragon Quest Builders 3.

Game 28 - Final Fantasy XV: Windows Edition - PC Steam - Completed Aug 17th, 2019
Another play through of Final Fantasy XV. Technically my third time through but the first was at launch and the second was the Pocket Edition a few months ago on the Switch. While the beginning of the game was more or less the same as the first time through, they had made some pretty significant tweaks to the later parts of the game especially chapter 14. I suppose this was the "Royal Edition" tweaks they did to the end of the game but it was a welcome change over the previously very bleak Insomnia level I remember from a few years ago. The game definitely earned it's place and feels right at home as a "numbered" Final Fantasy game, in my opinion. About 30 hours to complete this time around, I still did a lot of side quests so I probably could have shaved about 10 hours off of that easily.

Game 29 - Pokemon Let's Go: Eevee - Nintendo Switch - Completed Aug 22nd, 2019
I've been playing this game off and on for the last couple of months when I didn't really know what else to play. It's actually the first Pokemon game I've ever actually beat, though I think I've played almost all of them. I ended up with Eevee, Pikachu, Charizard, Blastoise, Articuno, and Moltres all around level 60 except Eevee that was level 67. The game had a fun and interested take on the Pokemon Go catching mechanics but blended it well with the traditional RPG gameplay. I think I battled every trainer on the roads and did all of the dungeons to 100%. I didn't fill the Pokedex but I did have 93 pokemons caught by the end of it. Overall a pretty fun game and a classic.

Game 30 - 12 Labours of Hercules VIII: How I Met Megara - PC Steam - Completed Sep 2nd, 2019
There isn't a lot to say about this game that I haven't already said about the first seven games - if you liked them, you'll like number 8. The plot was probably the worst yet, these games make absolutely no sense at all. I enjoy the time management and resource management aspects of these games quite a bit. Like the first games in the series, this game reminds me a lot of the old-school Popcap games - fast paced but run at a super high frame rate. If you're looking for a fun way to waste 6-7 hours, definitely pick one of these games (especially if and when they go on sale for $0.50 each).

Game 31 - The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan - PC Steam - Completed Sep 3rd, 2019
I was in the mood to play something spooky, and I figured it'd be The Blair Witch since it was on Game Pass. However, I made it to chapter 4 on Blair Witch and encountered a game-breaking bug that wouldn't let me continue. So I decided to pick up Man of Medan because I've been looking forward to it for a while and also because I've generally enjoyed Supermassive Game's Until Dawn-type output the last couple of years. A lot of people are saying this game is a step down from Until Dawn, but I actually enjoyed this game's more tight narrative focus a lot more. The characters weren't as good overall, and technically it wasn't as impressive, but the game came together nicely to (I think) be more than the sum of it's parts. The game had a really great atmosphere and an interesting story premise but a somewhat predictable twist. Overall, I'm now looking forward to their next Dark Pictures game, Little Hope.

Game 32 - The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening - Nintendo Switch - Completed Sep 21st, 2019
I was right in the middle of a playthrough of Final Fantasy VIII when Link's Awakening came out, and decided to put that on hold for a bit while I played through the newly remastered Game Boy title. I absolutely loved everything about this game, except for the framerate drops. This was a pure nostalgia trip for me, and the fact that Nintendo left all of the dungeons, dialog, and secrets intact from the original game was a huge bonus. The music, which remastered and orchestrated, was absolutely wonderful. The art style is a bit controversial but I really enjoyed the chibi art and tilt-shift camera feel. Overall, I'd say this is an instant classic and the definitive way to play Link's Awakening. I'm really just glad this exists - I hope they decide to remaster other older Zelda games this way.

I will try my best, I know it will be in vain...

I really finished one!

Game 1 - Shadow of Mordor - PC - finished Feb. 18th 2019
Finished Main Story just because I got Shadow of War for a few bucks and at least wanted to see the end of the prequel, before I try the new one. Needed 25 hours, just because I got caught in silly turmoils everytime I tried to get back into it over the years and just recently got to the point where you can control orcs and infiltrate their ranks. That mechanic is fun and engaging and I loved to push some of those guys higher and higher. But the gruntwork with the not that good Arkham-Fight-System was a bit disappointing. Still liked it in the end.

Two! I finished two!

Game 2 - Marvel's Spider-Man - PS4 (Pro) - finished Jun. 13th 2019
Hoo boy, another one. Again, finished the main story and in "high speed" (under a week)... I really liked it. The storytelling was par excellence, the graphics are awe inspiring and the gameplay was fun and almost not tiring to the end. Yeah, the human-stealth-sections were meh, but what can you do? Oh and on one (almost two) particular points in the story I really shed a tear. *sneef*
Did buy the DLC but I don't know if I will play it straight on.

The Tribe Has Spoken
1) Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast
System: PC
Completion: 4/1/19
Duration: 24h
Rating: 🕹🕹🕹
Comments: Amazing level design. But, the game gets a little bit repetitive. Swamp level sucks. Was more impressive back at release, but still a fun romp.

2) SOMA
System: PC
Completion: 10/1/19
Duration: 13h 44m
Rating: 🕹🕹🕹
Comments: Very atmospheric. Amazing world design. Some of the best audio and surround sound implementation I have heard in a video game. Can get a little bit repetitive, but the game isn’t too long, so that is mitigated. Interesting and thought-provoking story, but at the same time, I expected plot twists that never came and the story ended somewhat predictably. Still, I enjoyed my time with it and would highly recommend.

3) Portal 2
System: PC
Completion: 14/1/19
Duration: 13h
Rating: 🕹🕹🕹🕹
Comments: If you liked Portal, this is more of the same with the humour and environments ramped up. A very good video game.

4) Limbo

Comments: Pleasant little puzzler.

5) System Shock 2
System: PC
Completion: 23/1/19
Duration: 35h
Rating: 🕹🕹🕹🕹🕹
Comments: Wonderfully atmospheric. Amazing sound design. Insane level design. Late game levels hard as hell. All time classic game.

6) Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker
System: Nintendo Switch
Completion: 18/2/19
Duration: 10h
Rating: 🕹🕹🕹🕹
Comments: One of the most charming games I have ever played, every ounce of Nintendo artistry used. Good puzzler, not too challenging, but a test to get 100%. Great.

7) Super Mario Land (Gameboy)
System: Nintendo 3DS
Completion: 21/2/19
Duration: 1.5h
Rating: 🕹🕹
Comments: Like a Super Mario game from a parallel dimension. Short. Weird. Still fun. Has little shmup sections and mid level auto-saves. An interesting time capsule.

8) Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins (Gameboy)
System: Nintendo 3DS
Completion: 21/2/19
Duration: 2.5h
Rating: 🕹🕹🕹🕹
Comments: A big step up from SML1. Now, this is real Mario. World map. Great stages. Joy to play. Surprisingly great and catchy music considering the Gameboy’s sound output.

9) Double Dragon (NES)
System: Nintendo Switch
Completion: 8/3/19
Duration: 1h
Rating: 🕹🕹🕹
Comments: Hadn’t really had a proper session with this since I was a kid. After 10 minutes, it was like riding a bike. Simplistic. Short. ******* awesome.

10) Super Mario Bros. 2 (USA) (NES)
System: Nintendo Switch
Completion: 12/3/19
Duration: 4h
Rating: 🕹🕹
Comments: Like the red-headed stepchild of the Super Mario series. An anomaly. An enigma. Great music, but not enough of it. Can be very challenging. Not a REAL Super Mario game. Fun nonetheless.

11) Kid Icarus (NES)
System: Nintendo Switch
Completion: 15/3/19
Duration: 4h
Rating: 🕹🕹🕹🕹
Comments: Amazing game. A lot of people nowadays find it antiquated, but when you factor in the time that this released (1986), it truly was a great game. An epic adventure. Challenging, but fair.

12) Ninja Gaiden (NES)
System: Nintendo Switch
Completion: 16/3/19
Duration: 4h
Rating: 🕹🕹🕹
Comments: When you hear stories about hardcore old-school games, they are talking about Ninja Gaiden. A torture-fest concocted by the mind of a psychopath. Devious. Devilish. Evil. Cool as beans too.

13) TwinBee (NES)
System: Nintendo Switch
Completion: 16/3/19
Duration: 1h
Rating: 🕹
Comments: Seems like the easiest SHMUP ever and then Stage 5 comes along and rips you a new one. Weird concept, picture flying knives and forks. An oddity. Not a great game, but interesting.

14) Contra (NES)
System: Nintendo Classic Mini
Completion: 18/3/19
Duration: 42m
Rating: 🕹🕹🕹🕹🕹
Comments: A true classic. Immediately fun and engaging. Challenging, but fair. Extremely catchy music. Awesome, snappy controls. The “spread” gun. Play it.

15) Batman (NES)
System: Nintendo Classic Mini
Completion: 20/3/19
Duration: 1h 23m
Rating: 🕹🕹🕹
Comments: A very good and somewhat underappreciated NES game. Insanely difficult to the point of unfair at times. Especially the later levels. The final boss fight was ridiculously hard. Squarely fits in the hardcore retro game box. Fun, but not for the faint of heart.

16) Super C (NES)
System: Nintendo Classic Mini
Completion: 20/3/19
Duration: 54m
Rating: 🕹🕹
Comments: Short and nowhere near as challenging as Contra. Konami tried to mix it up a bit with the weaponry, but the game is over way too quickly. The music is largely forgettable. A redeeming feature is some of the graphic design work, especially the final level. Great looking backgrounds.

17) Rollergames (NES)
System: Nintendo Classic Mini
Completion: 21/3/19
Duration: 41m
Rating: 🕹🕹
Comments: I have a soft spot in my heart for this game. My cousin owned it when we were kids and we played it religiously. Never did beat it until now. The last stage is crazy levels of unfair. The music is great for the NES and yet not talked about much. The game is fun, but not for everyone. I like it. I procrastinated over whether to give it 2 or 3 out of 5. My heart says 3, but my logic says it is a 2 game. So, there it is.

18) Shadowgate (NES)
System: Nintendo Classic Mini
Completion: 22/3/19
Duration: 1h 10m
Rating: 🕹🕹🕹
Comments: I somehow missed out on playing Shadowgate during my childhood. Therefore, it’s a bit hard to judge what it’s impact would have been like. I’d assume, in the age before the internet and FAQs, this would’ve seemed like a grand adventure. I certainly enjoyed it. A dungeon crawler solely focused on exploration and narrative with virtually no combat. Probably doesn’t receive the accolades nowadays that it deserves.

19) DuckTales (NES)
System: Nintendo Classic Mini
Completion: 24/3/19
Duration: 45m
Rating: 🕹🕹🕹🕹
Comments: As a child, this game was godly. The music, the sounds, the pogo stick. Back then I would have rated it a 5 out of 5. As it stands today, the music is still as great as ever, as is the pogo stick. The levels are pretty amazing for a NES platformer in that they are non-linear. But, in the end, the game is very easy on “normal” difficulty, therefore I gave it a 4 out of 5. I almost gave it a 3, but come on, this is DuckTales! Everyone should play this game at least once.

20) DuckTales 2 (NES)
System: Nintendo Classic Mini
Completion: 25/3/19
Duration: 1h 18m
Rating: 🕹🕹🕹
Comments: Though DuckTales was a childhood favourite of mine, I had no idea a NES sequel existed until I was well into adulthood. Coming out very late in the NES lifecycle, it is a somewhat rare and obscure game. Capcom added a few extra gameplay mechanics involving Scrooge’s iconic pogo stick. This makes the gameplay a bit deeper than the first game. Similar non-linear levels. A touch more challenging. Overall, a very enjoyable platformer. One negative to note is the music. Soundtrack is something the first game is famous for and unfortunately the sequel is utterly forgettable in this regard. A quick internet search confirmed my suspicion that different composers were at the helm of this game. Anyway, if you liked the first DuckTales, you will definitely enjoy the sequel.

21) Contra III: The Alien Wars (SNES)
System: SNES Classic Mini
Completion: 25/3/19
Duration: 1h 3m
Rating: 🕹🕹🕹
Comments: I never did get to play this much in my youth. This is my first time beating it. It’s classic Contra but harder than the NES games. Very, very pretty graphics. Great sprite work and backgrounds. Awesome soundtrack too.

22) Picross S2
System: Nintendo Switch
Completion: 27/3/19
Duration: 80h
Rating: 🕹🕹🕹🕹
Comments: Picross is the perfect pick up and play game for me. Great for a short or a long session. Challenging and rewarding. I’d almost give it 5 out of 5 if it had more modes. Still, it is good value for money.

23) My Nintendo Picross - The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
System: Nintendo 3DS
Completion: 4/4/19
Duration: 19h 6m
Rating: 🕹🕹🕹
Comments: It’s Zelda themed Picross. Fair amount of game here. I love Picross.

24) Adventures of Lolo (NES)
System: Nintendo Switch
Completion: 6/4/19
Duration: N/A (maybe 4h)
Rating: 🕹🕹🕹🕹

Comments: A clever and unique puzzle game. Just pure, brain-teasing fun. The single music track, whilst awesome, can get pretty repetitive. Very brief and unimaginative ending sequence. Can’t wait to play Lolo 2 & 3.

25) The Legend of Zelda (NES)
System: Nintendo Switch

Completion: 9/4/19
Duration: 8h
Rating: 🕹🕹🕹🕹🕹

Comments: Shamefully, this is the first time I have beaten this game. Despite loving the Zelda series, this is the first time I gave the game a proper go. At the time of release, this must have been amazing. A truly open world at a time when NES games (or any really) didn’t really do that. An epic adventure that deserves the accolades it receives.

26) Axiom Verge
System: Nintendo Switch
Completion: 14/4/19

Duration: 22h 15m
Rating: 🕹🕹🕹🕹🕹
Comments: I didn’t really believe the hype surrounding Axiom Verge and was prepared to be disappointed. Boy, was I wrong. This game is 2D Metroid-style perfection. It encourages exploration by having a ton of hidden upgrades scattered around the maps. The controls are fast and tight. The music is outstanding and sets the mood brilliantly. And it was all made by a single guy! Thomas Happ, take a bow. You did well, son. Real well.

27) Final Fantasy VII
System: Nintendo Switch
Completion: 24/4/19
Duration: 36h
Rating: 🕹🕹🕹🕹🕹
Comments: I remember preordering this for PSX back in the day. I wasn’t well-versed in RPGs at the time, but I knew it was an important release and I adored it despite never coming close to finishing it. I fixed that today. Time may have dulled some of the magic of this game, but nothing dulls the fact that it was a milestone game that truly lived up to the hype. It’s still a great game even though it has some flaws due to age. It has memorable characters, an epic story and charm in abundance. A classic.

28) Final Fantasy IX
System: Nintendo Switch
Completion: 27/5/19
Duration: 58h 48m
Rating: 🕹🕹🕹🕹
Comments: I’ve never gotten around to playing this until now. I imagine (if I was a 90s teenager again) this is how I would have pictured a 16bit RPG looking like after getting translated to the 32bit generation. It’s a gorgeous game. The character and world design is charming and memorable. As great as it was, FFVII’s graphics seem like they were practice for what was to come later. Squaresoft had truly mastered designing in 3D by this point. Again, charming and gorgeous. A comparison where it doesn’t fare as well is the music. FFIX has a few great themes (the title music is stellar!), but overall FFVII’s soundtrack has it beat. Story-wise it fares ok, but it’s not as engaging as FFVII’s story was. Also, FFIX’s ending gets a bit convoluted. Overall, I’m glad I played it. Now, on to FFX.

29) Shovel Knight: Shovel of Hope
System: Nintendo Switch
Completion: 3/6/19
Duration: 9h 25m
Rating: 🕹🕹🕹
Comments: I’ve never been so conflicted with a game. When Shovel Knight gets it right, it’s bliss. But, when it gets it wrong, it’s hair-pulling frustration. The gameplay and level design is great. Controls also great (although not the default button layout). Music is ok to good. Where the game falls down is with some questionable design decisions. For example: each level has a series of checkpoints in the form of glass lamp posts. Reaching a checkpoint means you will continue from that spot if you die. What the game doesn’t explain (other than an obscure reference buried deep and out of the way) is that if you accidentally hit a checkpoint with your weapon, it will break and render that checkpoint completely unusable. Meaning that if you die, you will respawn at the previous unbroken checkpoint. This is a baffling decision and annoying as hell. The boss rush mode near the end is also questionable. In all, I’m glad I played the game, but it left me with a bit of a sour taste.

30) Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney
System: Nintendo Switch
Completion: 25/6/19
Duration: 20h
Rating: 🕹🕹🕹
Comments: This game wowed me when it first released on DS in 2005. Unfortunately, some of that wow factor has worn off by 2019. It is still a unique and interesting game, but I found that towards the end of my playthrough, I was wishing for the ending. If you have never played it, I recommend it wholeheartedly. If you have been there before, I’d advise waiting for a sale.

31) Picross S3
System: Nintendo Switch
Completion: 12/7/19
Duration: 60h
Rating: 🕹🕹🕹
Comments: Stock standard Switch Picross title. You are either indifferent or you love this series. I love it. Color Picross was a welcome, if somewhat underwhelming new addition to the formula.

32) Mighty Final Fight
System: NES Classic Mini
Completion: 22/7/19
Duration: 1h
Rating: 🕹🕹🕹
Comments: I remember anticipating the release of this game back in 1992/93. I had seen screenshots in magazines and the idea of Final Fight on the NES sounded like heaven to me. I also remember the news that it would only be singleplayer hitting me like a ton of bricks. I never got around to playing it, as it was such a late release for the NES and I was starting to look ahead towards the SNES instead. Anyway, here we are. It’s a fun brawler. The graphics are simple, yet pleasing. Music is nice, if somewhat forgettable and repetitive. The controls are responsive and fun. The levels are a bit too simple and formulaic and the disparity between the normal part of a level and the boss fights is a bit ridiculous. The regular level is very easy and yet the boss fights can be difficult and frustrating. I enjoyed the game. I feel that if it came out a bit earlier in the NES’ lifecycle, then it would be considered a classic a la Double Dragon. As it stands, it is an obscure curio.

33) Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out!!
System: NES Classic Mini
Completion: 23/7/19
Duration: 1h 10m
Rating: 🕹🕹🕹🕹🕹
Comments: This game is timeless. A real must play, classic game. Hard as nails. Full of charm. Challenging and rewarding. At times needing an idiot savant level of specialty in order to succeed.

34) Battletoads
System: NES Classic Mini
Completion: 24/7/19
Duration: 1h 36m
Rating: 🕹🕹🕹
Comments: This game was immensely popular when I was a kid, even though most of us rarely made it past level 3. It was charming, fun and ridiculously hard. It’s reputation doesn’t lie. This game is hard as ****. Some sections (most sections) had me pulling my hair out in frustration. But now, I will proudly wear the “I’ve beaten Battletoads” feather in my cap. I’m proud as punch. I finally beat it. It only took me 28 years...

35) Battletoads & Double Dragon - The Ultimate Team
System: NES Classic Mini
Completion: 25/7/19
Duration: 1h 26m
Rating: 🕹🕹🕹
Comments: Another NES game I missed the first time around because of it’s late release date. The amount of animations and sprite work surprised and impressed me. As did the many variations in interactivity such as hanging from lamps, grappling, throwing dynamite through windows, climbing fences and many more. The game is a weird mix of Battletoads and Double Dragon, although probably much more BT than DD. It starts off very easy and then gets sometimes frustratingly hard in later levels, another similarity with Battletoads. The story (if you can call it that) is hastily thrown together as almost an afterthought. Overall, I enjoyed it more than I thought I would, but I wouldn’t consider it a classic or must play.

36) Fire Emblem: Three Houses
System: Nintendo Switch
Completion: 23/8/19
Duration: 110h
Rating: 🕹🕹🕹🕹🕹
Comments: Quite simply, this is a great game. It has enough to please both veterans of the Fire Emblem series and newcomers alike. I pumped over 100 hours into it and it flew by. That’s a sure sign that this game is something special. The story is surprisingly compelling. The gameplay is typically addictive in that Fire Emblem fashion. The new school elements are a surprisingly smooth and enjoyable addition. The music is great, although more tracks would be welcome. Some people seem to state that the game is too easy, though I found it to be suitably challenging for a decently experienced Fire Emblem player such as myself. The only negatives I can seriously attribute to this game are that not all of the games mechanics are comfortably explained in the early game and that it has one of the all-time underwhelming endings I’ve ever seen. Not unusual for video games, but after such an epic journey, it’s a bit stark and disappointing. Anyway, if you enjoy games, you’d do yourself a disservice not to play this. After 110 hours on 1 of 3 story arcs, this bloody game has seriously put a dent in my hopes of completing the 52 games in 1 year challenge! Worth it though, lol.

37) Resident Evil REmake HD Remaster
System: Nintendo Switch
Completion: 16/9/19
Duration: 14h 18m
Rating: 🕹🕹🕹🕹
Comments: Another game in which I bought it day 1 (on Gamecube) and never got around to finishing it. It was utterly spectacular and impressive at the time and this HD remastered version still is. The graphics still hold up and are downright gorgeous. Capcom put a lot of effort into this game and it shows. The more modern “alternate” controls make the game a tad smoother. It’s still hard as hell though. Brutal sometimes. The ink ribbon save system can become frustrating at times, but it adds to the tension. A great game overall and really is a deserved classic.

38) Star Fox (SNES)
System: Nintendo Switch
Completion: 17/9/19

Comments: This game was seriously impressive at the time of release. Today it is a short trip down memory lane. Fun, but brief.

39) The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening
System: Nintendo Switch
Completion: 25/9/19
Duration: 20h
Rating: 🕹🕹🕹
Comments: When I first saw the announcement trailer, I didn’t like the new look. But, from the moment I actually started playing the game, I absolutely adored it. Gorgeous looking game. It’s not my favourite Zelda title, but still enjoyable. Decent length, but still somewhat brief in the scheme of things. The stuttering issue has been way overblown by the internet (who’d have thunk it?). It’s there for a second or two when you exit an area. Once you’re knee deep in the game, you won’t even notice it, unless you are looking for it. A whole lotta nuthin’, that controversy. Anyway, a classic and traditional Zelda. Recommended.

40) Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age
System: Nintendo Switch
Completion: 28/10/19
Duration: 94h 43m
Rating: 🕹🕹🕹🕹🕹
Comments: An absolutely wonderful JRPG. So charming and beautiful. Admittedly, after such an epic adventure, I thought the ending was a bit weak. But, I would recommend this game wholeheartedly.

41) Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition
System: Nintendo Switch
Completion: 28/11/19
Duration: 122h
Rating: 🕹🕹🕹🕹🕹
Comments: Absolute classic. Not a “hold your hand and lead the way” type of game. Can be very unforgiving and really makes you strategise everything you do, from battles to collecting loot. An interesting storyline, not the usual RPG fare. Very atmospheric and beautiful despite it’s age. Fantastic soundtrack and voice acting. Very replayable. Highly recommended, but not for everybody.

42) Baldur’s Gate: Tales of the Sword Coast

43) Baldur’s Gate II: Enhanced Edition
System: Nintendo Switch
Completion: 29/12/19
Duration: 128h
Rating: 🕹🕹🕹🕹🕹
Comments: Probably one of the most anticipated and daunting games I’ve ever played, due to it’s reputation. After playing it back to back with Baldur’s Gate, I have to say that I found the first 20-30 hours kind of frenetic. The game bombards you with companion characters and side quests seemingly at every step. To the point that I found the game wasn’t giving me the chance to settle in and get to know my current adventuring troupe before I was being forced to make an agonising decision of who to drop and who to take on. Thrust from one set piece to the next. This is contrary to the first game which has a more laid back approach which accentuates the sense of mystery and grand adventure, in my opinion. Once I settled in though, it truly was magnificent. The dialogue and storyline is captivating. It’s Baldur’s Gate 1 with everything turned up to 11. I maybe didn’t feel like the gap between the first game and the sequel was as large as years worth of online testimony would attest to, but I thought it earned it’s stellar reputation, regardless. A classic that I’m glad to finally say I have completed.

44) Uno
System: Nintendo Switch
Rating: 🕹🕹
Comments: Played the living hell out of this, this year. Simple and addictive. Would love to give it a higher rating, but it is still a buggy mess years after launch. Not good enough Ubisoft.

45) Tetris 99
System: Nintendo Switch
Rating: 🕹🕹🕹🕹🕹
Comments: Played a good 30-40 hours of this, this year. I never thought I would get so into it. Such a basic concept, but addictive and hard as hell. Epitome of “just one more try”.

46) Rento Fortune

47) Jackal

1. Unravel

What a trash tier game, beat it beggining january and it kinda ruined my whole month. The most boring game ive ever played and the music makes me want to shoot myself.

2. Titanfall

Great game, tho wasnt a fan of the mech battles. I played on hardest diff. So im sure that made it less fun. Controlled great tho.

3. Metro 2033

This one was a replay, loved it the first time and just wanted to refresh my memory for exodus.

4. Metro last light

Same as 2033, if you like stealth based shooters def give these 2 a play before exodus if you havent already.

5. Undertale

Been waiting forever for it to go on sale and finally picked it up. Great game! Loved the battle system and the humor was spot on.

6. Red dead 2

A good game, but too many bullshit main quests and the worlf was too big. The fact you put in an option for an automated cruise control should tell you something about your world size.

7. Yakuza kiwami 1

Work in progress

8. DMCV

amazing game! so glad Capcom smartened up and released a sequel to 4

9. Dmc3

After beating v i had a craving to replay 3, i played it once in 2005 and i feel its still the better game. if they updated the graphics it would be untouchable.

10. Going to count apex legends here, been playing a lot with friends and its eating into my time.

11. farcry 5 xbox one

Picked it up at launch and while i did enjoy it, the hunting aspect really made me crave a hunting sim so i picked up hunter call of the wild and far cry took a backseat.

Game was good other than the do some missions, get captured. Do more missions, get captured aspect. But i think im farcryd out for a few years now

12. Mario kart super circuit, GBA

got golds in all the cups. Always wanted this game growing up. Solid racer on the gba

13. Gravity rush on the ps4.

Played it on the vita when it first released but wanted to replay it before jumping into gravity rush 2. Feels like a mobile game just blown up on the big screen. Still fun tho

14. Blazing chrome,

extremely short game but had fun, retro stuff like this isnt usually my cup of tea but the digital foundry video on it really sold it to me

15. Crash bandicoot 1 for xbox one

Never played the original back in the day so I snagged the insane trilogy. Was a solid platformer, some parts made me want to smash my controller lol

16. metal slug XX, xbox 360

after playing blazing chrome I decided to give this bad boy a shot since I saw it in game pass, not as good as blazing chrome but still fun, could use updated controls

17. dragonball fighterz xbox one

totally forgot this game had an actual story mode. tore up arcade and was shocked it was only 3 events. then I saw the story mode and blew through it relatively quick. enemies were way too easy and felt like a grind. story was meh.

18. Shovel knight, xbox one.

Fantastic game! Was the perfect length and difficulty. Boss battles were fun

19. Metro exodus, xbox one.

As a huge fan of the metro series I was somewhat disappointed with this title. Few of the levels were really nice like volga but the desert level was horrible and didnt feel like metro at all.

Hope the next installment steers back towards the tunnels

20. Pokemon go, android.

Not much to say other than i wish they had this around when I was a kid. Spent a lot of hours of the past month playing this

21. Re2 remake, xbox one

Just finished Leon's campaign and dont think I'll go back and play Claire's right away. If they had it where it was 2 separate paths I'd hop in but I dont want to replay the game with slight puzzle changes.

My main issues with this game is the zombies are impossible to kill and mr.x, I know that's what the game is supposed to be like but I'd rather not spend my time ducking and running

This is the Year!
(Note: I don't list a completion time because I let games idle too much. I don't give review scores because I would give almost everything a 10/10).

1: Dragon Quest XI (PS4 Pro) - [Main story on standard]
My first Dragon Quest and it was a joy to play. The music really needs updated to fit with the quality of the game. It had a little Zelda style destination choice/exploration and backtracking in it, but I wish they went harder with this. It took me a long time to beat because I kept getting distracted from the main quest and talking with every villager. Never felt the need to rush, it was always a pleasure to be playing, but I have to move on. The post-game content and 100%ing will be saved for a later date.

2: Fortune Island - Forza Horizon 4 DLC (Xbox One X) - [100% complete]
This was a pretty meaty DLC. The treasure hunting was ok but the Island and all the new events to complete made it worth the price. Just more fun for FH4. Still, in the back of my mind, I wish I was playing Test Drive Unlimited 3.

3: Never Alone (Xbox One X) - [Full story]
Really similar to Unravel. Not quite as good as Unravel but not bad either. It's fun playing as a cute snow fox.

4: Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition (Xbox One X) - [Full story on normal]
Happy to finally finish this game that I set aside when it first came out. It's solid with good characters and hit the spot. Way longer than I thought it would be, my 52 game progress took a hit.

5: Crackdown 3 (Xbox One X) - [Full story on agent]
I think the first game was better in most ways. Still, running around jumping for orbs and shooting bad guys is good classic video game entertainment. Great for playing while listening to podcasts.

6: The Gardens Between (Xbox One X) - [Full story]
Fun little puzzle game with a cool art style and rewind mechanics. It was just the right difficulty for someone like me who is not very good at puzzle games. The intro in the neighborhood looks really cool, I wish they would make a whole game that looked like that part in the future.

7: Dead or Alive 3 (Xbox 360/XboxBC) - [All characters on normal]
Such nice environments in this game. Played on 360 which looks a little better and only has a few minor issues. The final boss, Omega, was a real pain the neck even on normal. Some of the characters could cheese him with jabs but most of them had to block and dodge just to get close enough for some possible hits. Highlight: Christie's ending movie of her taking a shower and it shows her butt, uncensored. Probably unacceptable by today's standards.

8: Dead or Alive 6 (Xbox One X) - [Full story, all costume parts collected]
Game looks good and plays plays good with nice mechanics and tutorials. Story mode was ok but a let down, they went with a single timeline story and many of the characters got left out with only a couple short scenes of no consequence. Online is fun even for a fighter scrub like me. I unlocked all the costume parts but still have to earn the coin needed to purchase them. Still, I call that good enough and will be moving on from this game, playing it from time to time to keep purchasing all those costumes.

9: The Dwarves (Xbox One X) - [Full story on very easy]
Great fantasy D&D style vibes. Really good art and style by King Art games. Good voice acting, characters, music, story. Lots of good with this game but the gameplay is not so good. I switched to easy difficulty due to how clunky, tedious and bug filled the gameplay was. It's like a hero rts, but having to manually use each of the four characters skills which refresh every few seconds was way too tedious. Sometimes falling off a 1 foot ledge would lead to instant death, sometimes progression triggers would fail etc. Oh bad framerate too even on the X. Still, even with the bugs and tedious gameplay, it was quite an enjoyable fantasy-style experience.

10: Need For Speed SHIFT (Xbox 360) - [Tier 5 World Tour complete on medium]
Went through the career enough to unlock all 5 tiers and complete the final World Tour races. Racing games are fun now and then and I search for ones that can rival my favorites. This is not one but it does have some cool things. The screen blurring and your driver letting out "ouch" grunts is pretty cool. Having the game keep track of each corner being mastered on the minimap throughout your career is another cool thing. The AI showed some signs of life which was nice. It was fun but I'm not in a rush to 100% it. I also have SHIFT 2, which i hear is a good improvement over this one.

11: Final Fantasy V Advance (GBA) - [Full Story]
I played this game nearly to completion around 5 times in the past but for whatever reasons, never finished it. Now I have and did it with a few easy challenges. First challenge I do with most JPRG's which is to not allow any duplicate equipable items. It adds just a little extra strategy deciding who gets what. Second challenge was a random 2 Jobs only run. I ended up with Mystic Knight/Dragoon, Bard/Chemist, Thief/Samurai, and Geomancer/Dancer. Mystic Knight/Dragoon was a good combo for bosses with Spellblade and Jump combo. Bard/Chemist was great throughout, Bard for the stop song for easy farming and Chemist for !Mix, which gives super buffs of doubling HP or boosting characters by 20 levels a pop. Thief/Samurai was not the best combo but good for !Mug while grinding and eventually just a normal Samurai with the agility/speed of a Thief which I would use the chemist to Haste/Berserk/Image and just let them be an auto-crit bot for bosses. Geomancer/Dancer was not good. They did help quite a bit during early to mid game but then became pretty weak with low hp. For the final bosses they ended up being an item thrower for heals and using the magic pot for summons on the final boss. Happy to finally beat it, especially with the random jobs challenge and almost want to play again right away with a new random team.

12: Life is Strange - Episode 3: Chaos Theory (Xbox One X) - [Full episode]
I am taking the "breaks between episodes" a bit extreme, not playing since nearly a year ago. Episode 3 was very good. Favorite so far. Much like TV series it takes a few episodes to get really hooked.

13: Old Man's Journey (Xbox One X) - [Full story]
Moble game on Xbox but not bad. Nice art and music made it a pleasant experience. You move hills around and click on other things to progress. I guess it's a puzzle/adventure lite. Took only a couple hours to beat so perfect for me who needs to catch up!

14: Life is Strange - Episode 4: Dark Room (Xbox One X) - [Full episode]
Nice long episode compared to the rest. Cool locations/settings and cool interactions.

15: Supermarket Shriek (Xbox One X) - [Full story mode]
A game as annoying as it is fun. Use right and left triggers to make man/goat scream and propel shopping cart. There is a huge difficulty spike in the last handful of levels compared to the rest. The last level is very challenging and I was not sure if I could beat it. Still, I stuck with it and beat it the next day after a sleep. It was very satisfying. I likely will NOT return to 3 star everything but am happy with what I played.

16: Life is Strange - Episode 5: Polarized (Xbox One X) - [Full episode]
Kind of a STRANGE ending if you ask me. I would like more games with time manipulation.

17: Wolfenstein: The Old Blood (Xbox One X) - [Full story on normal]
Not as much story in this one compared to The New Order. All killer, no filler, like classic FPS.

18: The Sims 4 (Xbox One X) - [Max career level and aspirations complete]
Played while listening to podcasts. Continued on with my tutorial character to complete their aspirations and reached max career level. Had lesbian sex with the maid too. Calling that a completion.

19: Life is Strange: Before the Storm - Episode 1: Awake (Xbox One X) - [Full episode]
It's fun to be the bad girl doing bad stuff even if I know there will be consequences. Kind of miss the ability to control time.

20: SteamWorld Dig (Xbox One X) - [Full story]
Another good game to play while listening to podcasts. Provides dopamine. Not much to it but nothing wrong with it either.

21: Samurai Shodown (2019) (Xbox One X) - [All characters on normal]
Perfect level of difficulty for me in the singleplayer mode. The final boss was pretty tough. Once I got the hang of it, I could beat her with most of the characters within a couple tries. There were a few characters who had a harder time due to their low melee attack range or one in particular who mostly had attacks with long animations. It took a couple hours for me to beat her with that one character but it felt super satisfying. Can't wait to watch the pros play it at EVO!

22: The Initial (PC, Steam) - [Full story on easy]
Pretty simplistic anime style hack n slash game. Got it on sale because I saw there's a sequel coming out for Xbox One. It was made by only 5 devs and you can tell but it looks like they put a lot of love into it. The simple style looks and runs good on my older PC so that's a plus. It also has good Japanese VO and nice character models. Really short though, with a pretty lite story.

23: Star Wars Rebellion (PC/Steam) - [Full large galaxy games for both Empire and Rebels on medium]
Strategy and 4X games can really suck me in. I played about 40 hours in 1 week...where's my check? Feeling that's good enough to call it a completion. I've played this game off and on since it came out in 1998. Gamespot gave it a 4.5/10 and I think there was a video game magazine at the time, GamePro or EGM who gave it a 2/10. Too bad for them because it's been one of my favorite games and it still holds up. Bonus, it's another good podcast game.

24: Wolfenstein: The New Colossus (Xbox One X) - [Full story on normal]
Really enjoyed the cutscenes the most. Fergus is one of my favorite new characters. It may have had some woke stuff in it but it didn't really bother me and back then there was social politics as much or more than there is now, plus the nudity made up for it in my book. The level design for the actual gameplay could have been better, got lost multiple times with no enemies around trying to find my way through broken buildings was not that fun. Really cool game, I don't get the hate.

25: Sea of Solitude (Xbox One X) - [Full story]
More of an educational game than I bargained for. The controls and platforming is actually really solid but there's not much to do with it except progress through the mostly linear paths. Oh I really like the accent of the main character. I understand their choice to make an educational type game, that's cool, but I think they could have the potential to make a cool traditional video game for their next project.

26: Initial 2: New Stage (Xbox One X) - [Full story]
Sequel to The Initial which I just played on Steam a few games back. This one is much bigger of a game with somewhat a of a hub area, a real story and two AI companions. It's still just an anime styled game made by a small team of devs, which is cool in it's own way but still, don't expect too much. Unfortunately this sequel doesn't give the pantsu fan service of the first game but it does have a few characters with big boobs. The character models are still surprisingly well done for a budget game.

27: Torchlight (Xbox One X/360BC) - [Full story on normal 200/200 achievements]
You know what I'm going to say by now. It's a good game to play while listening to podcasts. Simple Diablo style game. Fun enough for and didn't overstay it's welcome. Don't feel much incentive to give it multiple playthroughs at this point but I'm ready for Torchlight 2 now.

28: Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare (Xbox One X) - [Full story]
Finally getting around to this one. The exosuit and some of the other tech was pretty cool. Some sequences of the game were cool, while some others were really bad. The graphics were real nice. Pretty average COD stuff.

29: Fighting Vipers (Xbox One X/360BC) - [400/400 100% Achievements]
This game is unpleasantly difficult, even on Easy. Emulation at least on the X seems to be sped up to x2 speed or maybe more. I managed to beat Arcade mode once on medium after losing for 2 hours. I'm going to blame the hyper speed AI. Anyway with 100% achievements I'm still fine with calling this a completion and uninstalling it.

30: Metropolis Lux Obscura (Xbox One X) - [One ending]
Cool match 3 type game combined with a mature graphic novel style with lots of nudity. Game is really fast to beat and has multiple endings but I'll save those for the next years challenges hehe. It's super fast to beat, perfect for this challenge. It's actually fun too.

31: A Winters Daydream (Xbox One X) - [Full story 1000/1000 100% Achievements]
Was surprised to see a visual novel on Xbox so I checked it out. The story, music and art is all really good. No branching paths or dialog choices so it's hard to call it a game but i'm still counting it! There's like 5% of an incest innuendo theme in the game which the Author admits to but mostly as a joke.

32: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (Xbox One X) - [Full story on Hardened]
Solid campaign. Some of it felt a little forced but whatever. It has some real bad performance issues on Xbox One X. Really disappointed with it's use of the enhanced console.

33: Abzu (Xbox One X) - [Full adventure]
Seems like a staple game for this challenge. Enjoyable experience with nice visuals and music. Not much to say beyond that.

34: Need for Speed Heat (Xbox One X) - [Main story]
Taking the series in the right direction, this one is good but not great yet. The ending of the story was kind of lame and didn't make a lot of sense. The soundtrack gets old really fast and I had to turn it off. Those are my main complains. The rest of the game is pretty solid and I'll keep picking away at it, maybe 100% it next year.

35: STAR WARS Jedi: Fallen Order (Xbox One X) - [Full story on Jedi Knight]
This could be my GOTY. There's a feel of classic video games in this that I don't get from a lot of modern games. All the Star Wars stuff was cool and I took my time looking at all the nice scenery. Definitely not perfect in gameplay or story elements but there's no need to think too hard about it. Bring on the sequel or more Star Wars games like this.

36: Gears 5 (Xbox One X) - [Full campaign on Intermediate]
It's a good solid game. I started to like the new characters. Feels like it's halfway in the direction that Gears should be, hope the next game will continue in that way. Good HDR settings.

37: Fractured Minds (Xbox One X) - [Full story 1000/1000 100% Achievements]
Saw this up for pre-order a while back with the description of it being a short game and it was only a couple bucks. So yeah, basically bought it just for this challenge. Kind of a mental health awareness game made by one 17 year old girl. I am more aware now and one step closer to 52 games at the same time.

38: Tacoma (Xbox One X) - [First playthrough]
Short game, perfect for this challenge. Cool way to tell a story, playing back AR recordings of what happened. Game seemed a little too political/sjw agenda filled for me to care about the story though.

39: Firewatch (Xbox One X) - [Full Story]
Pretty good game with some really cringy dialog and I never say cringy until now. I like that all the items will stay in the world where you leave them. Seems like there's room for more park ranger type games.

40: Pantsu Hunter: Back to the 90s (PC/Steam) - [100% 15/15 Steam Achievements]
Got this because the early 90s anime art is really good. They did a good job at recreating that art and I wish more games would use that style from the late 80's early 90's. Kind of a trial and error click adventure to find panties and unlock all the endings and extras. It has some good dialog and some pretty good voice acting too. Worth getting if you like the 90s art style and are not ashamed to play it.

41: Ben-Hur (Xbox One X) - [1000/1000 100% Achievements]
Second 'playthrough' of this chariot racing 'game'. Went back to grab the remaining achievements I needed. A little bit challenging to get but not too bad. Uninstalling this one feels good.

42: Anthem (Xbox One X) - [Main story]
Coming back to it after a long break. I wanted to finish the main story and did so. The final mission glitched on me near the end, requiring me to restart and do it again. No players in matchmaking so had to do it alone. After final mission I try to look at my map and it's glitched and way off center can't see anything. I can't, I just can't play anymore. Uninstalled.

43: Life is Strange: Before the Storm - Episode 2: Brave New World (Xbox One X) - [Full episode]
Felt pretty immersed in this one. Within the limits I get quite a bit of control to what Chloe does. Without time control the stakes are higher. Rachel still looks weird.

44: MechaNika (Xbox One X) - [1000/1000 100% Achievements]
Second playthrough to clean up missing Achievements. Had to go through the full story agan without using a couple items plus get some others I missed. This reminded me that I need to check out the other games from Mango Protocol. Their style and adult humor is pretty cool.

45: Life is Strange: Before the Storm - Episode 3: Hell Is Empty (Xbox One X) - [Full episode]
Wasn't feeling this episode as much. Everything felt a little forced and maybe a bit rushed. I had no hesitation with the final choice even though it was the one that less people picked (49%). Still enjoyable enough.

46: Life is Strange: Before the Storm - Bonus Episode: Farewell (Xbox One X) - [Full episode]
Felt good to control Max again. Bittersweet episode saying goodbye to Max and Chloe. They're pretty iconic now, wonder if they will ever show up in another game down the line. Uhh I think I've had my fill of Life is Strange for the year, LiS2 will have to wait for next year.

47: What Remains of Edith Finch (Xbox One X) - [Full story]
Guess this is a walking sim? Cool way to tell a story with some fun interactivity. Chugged a little on Xbox One X.

48: Dead or Alive 6 - Online (Xbox One X) - [D- Rank]
Adding in my online games now. I played DOA6 Ranked quite a bit online, I really suck though. I got to C- Rank at one point but it's easy to forget how to do stuff in this game. You really have to practice holds and then moves for one character if you want to keep winning. I end up forgetting over time and don't do so well. Mostly playing to unlock outfits anyway. Even when I do win, I usually give a lesser skilled opponent opportunities to win or try to beat them by using only throws or something. It keeps me low rank but that's probably for the best.

49: League of Legends - ARAM (PC) - [1000's of games]
The mode with a single lane and randomized champion picks where everyone gets to fight 5v5. I never play the main LoL mode, just the sub modes like this one. It gives me my multiplayer fix in around 20 minute matches. I still miss my old favorite mode Dominion which they discontinued but this was my second favorite. My favorite thing to play while drinking and sometimes play way better while doing so haha.

50: League of Legends - Teamfight Tactics (Xbox One X) - [100's of games]
The strategy auto-battle for LoL. Another good way to get a more chill short multiplayer experience. It's gone through quite a few big changes since it started like changing what champions/sets are available and adding in elements. I preferred the update before they added the elemental types because I was winning a lot and got pretty high ranked. The new update is hard for me to grasp a good strategy and seems like RNG plays a bigger part. Hope that another update comes along that changes things up again. Not the best mode for drinking.

51: The Purring Quest (PC/Steam) - [full story]
Dog lovers need not apply. It's a simple side-scrolling platformer where you play as a cat. You get normal cat skills like jumping, scratching, climbing and hiding in boxes. There's fishbones, hidden cats and some secrets to find as collectibles. Out of the blue near the end of the 4th level you have to complete a rhythm game like guitar hero. It's pretty dang tough and seems like the X/Y blue/yellow should have been swapped on the scrolling board. I bet many people who were in for a chill cat game could get stuck here. Luckily I'm a pro gamer and completed the Purring Quest.

52: Pro Cast Sports Fishing Game (OG Xbox) - [100% all modes]
Completed Simulation mode and Arcade mode with 1st place in each event, purchased all items. I saw the cover of this game and it made me curious. Seeing that it was a fishing game made by Capcom exclusive to Xbox made me curious enough to buy it. I like fishing games even though most are bad. This one has some really good stuff but is still bad. The good part with this one is that the fish you see in the water stay there after you cast so you can try to cast closer to them. Some games seem to generate new fish each time you cast. In this when you catch 2-3 fish in a spot you need to move to a new spot unlike a lot of other fishing games. There's some cool Capcom flavor with nice for the time player models and music that you could imagine being in a Dreamcast game. The bad is that tournaments are not even tournaments. You can come in 1st, or 10th to move on to the next event and there is no points system that adds up after the last event. Plus there's not much to do after completing these events and buying all equipment upgrades. It's a fun enough curiosity of a game.

Currently Playing:
Romancing Saga (PS3/PS2BC)
Dead or Alive 6 - Online (Xbox One X)
League of Legends - Teamfight Tactics (PC)
League of Legends - ARAM (PC)

Failed badly last year! Gonna make 2019 right!

I start by my annual beat a game in one day on New Year's Day :)

# Beat 1st Jan - Beautiful little platformer with amazing visuals and lovely story. 8/10

2: Far Cry 5 (PC) - 17 Hours 30 Minutes

# Beat 16th Feb - More Far Cry. Solid, fun, open-world bang bang shooter. 7/10

3: Far Cry 5: Hours of Darkness (PC) - 2 Hours 5 Minutes

# Beat 16th Feb - Pretty standard shooting and less of the Far Cry goodness 6/10

4: Resident Evil 2 (PC) - 26 Hours

# Beat 3rd Mar - Best game so far of 2019 and a hell of a remake. 9/10

5: Metro: Last Light Redux (PC) - 12 Hours 15 Minutes

# Beat 13th Mar - Replayed Last Light with now the DLC to get ready for Exodus - Still a great shooter 8/10

6: Blur (Xbox 360) - 18 Hours

# Beat 11 Aug - Now we have real looking cars with Mario Kart formula and it works great. 8/10

7: Astral Chain (Switch) - 20 Hours 16 Minutes

# Beat 28 Sep Great Platinum action with some interesting tag-ons, not their best, but still a bloody good time. 8/10

8: The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan (PC) - 5 Hours

#Beat 31st Oct Not quite as good as Until Dawn, but a decent horror choice adventure that feels a little rushed towards the end. 7/10

9: Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order (PC) - 18 Hours

# Great mix of Uncharted and Dark Souls, offering a sort of Dark Souls-lite with platformer. I could see this as a great entry into the Souls Genre. Nice to see Star Wars get a great single player game to boot. 8/10

I’ll toss myself into this. Don’t think I’ll get close since I’m focusing on clearing out most of the RPGs I’ve never got around to completing.

Quick question jshackles jshackles how do DLC episodes or expansions figure into this? Like if I go play Dragon Age Origins: Awakening or FFXV Episode Gladios do those count as completed games?

(2/52)
1. Mass Effect Andromeda - XB1X - Jan 3
My Stats
I don’t understand what the backlash to this game was, I quite actually enjoyed my time with it and found many of the small side quests enjoyable with the payoff for completing them. I remember such uproar about it when it came out, and the game I just finished didn’t seem worthy of all that. Unless they just ripped through the story missions and didn’t see how fleshed out the world was with all the side stuff.
Sad that we don’t know where this franchise is headed now, or if it even has a future.

2. Life is Strange: Before the Storm - XB1X - Jan 8
My Stats
I didn’t enjoy this near as much as the 1st game. I just didn’t find the story as compelling as Max and Chloe but it was still a good experience overall.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.

I wouldn't worry too much about big RPGs - last year I played Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Octopath Traveler, Ni No Kuni II, etc and still managed to make 52 games. :)

As for DLC - it's entirely up to you how you'd like to count things. Last year, I personally counted individual Elder Scrolls Online "regions" (Summerset, Morrowind, Clockwork City, etc) as different games since they took 15-30 hours each to complete for me. The OP's FAQs also says you can count individual episodes each as a game if you'd prefer. The goal here is to help motivate each other to play (and finish!) our games not to try and hold court on whether or not someone should be able to count something or not. If it counts to you, it counts.

Game is pretty good then? I've had my eye on it for a while and the 6 hour play time along with the fact it's on the Switch now sounds perfect.

In the grand scheme of things I came up 22 games short of completing last year's challenge, but I did managed to meet my personal goal of exceeding 20 games finished (by 10 games) and in the process also managed to Platinum/100% complete several games. So I will once again be taking up the challenge and I think the best way to start is by finishing the games I didn't get to finish last year.

Game #1 - Marvel's Spider -Man (PS4)
Est Playime - 30+ hrs, 100% completed/Platinum'd base game on 1/2/19
I've been a long time fan of Spider-man (in my book he's right there with Wolverine, the X-men, & Batman as my all time favs) and it's been a while since there was a (imo) pretty good Spiderman game (Spiderman 2 for the Gamecube/PS2) so I was pretty thrilled that this game, which I started playing last year (first via RedBox and then I got it as a Christmas gift), turned out to be really good. Now is it a perfect game, no not by any means (I'm not to big on the game's controls, but they're functional and get the job done) but does surpass Spiderman 2? well based on the side missions alone I'd say yeah by a country mile and it's no slouch either when it comes to the main story which sees an alternate version of the story arc along with a few other arcs from the comics. ★★★★★

Game #2 - Onimusha Warlords HD (PS4)
Est Playtime - 3hrs 34 mins (first playthrough), main story completed w/ a B ranking, 51% of Trophies obtained
I first played this game back in 2001 when it first came out on the PS2, now I don't recall ever beating it back then (I think I got all the way to the final boss, but never beat him) but I do remember enjoying it though not enough to bother pick up the sequels. So as soon as I found out it was (finally) getting a "HD" remaster/re-release I jumped st the chance to revisit this game and while I still enjoyed the game I honestly don't recall it ever being as short (I beat it in 3 hrs 34 mins and I almost 100% completed it, only missing 5 flourite stones, 1 document, 1 magic jewel, & finishing 13 of the 20 levels of the dark realm arena) as it turned out to be, but I will definitely come back to this game to see if I can manage to Platinum/100% it.....eventually :p ★★★✩✩

Game #3 - Resident Evil 2 Remake (PS4)
Est Playtime - 15+ hrs, completed Leon A/Claire B scenarios w/B rank on 1/27/19, UPDATE: got the Platinum Trophy on 2/12/19
I've been a long time fan of the Resident Evil series (since 1998 when I played Resident Evil: Director's Cut & Resident Evil 2 for the first time) and was super stoked to learn a few years back that Capcom was finally remaking RE 2. So my hype level was pretty high and I gotta say this game did not disappoint as it was (pretty much) everything I wanted in a remake. I'm loving this game so much that I plan on doing multiple playthroughs (I've already done a Leon & Claire A speed run and have beaten the 4th Survivor & Tofu Survivor mode) and will try to platinum the game. Hell they made Mr. X even more terrifying than he was in the original game by not only having him in constant pursuit/search & destroy mode through a good chunk of the game, but also by having him react to sounds (if you fire a gun, aggro a licker, throw a grenade/flash bang, solve a puzzle that makes a lot of noise he'll come a running) and busting through walls to get to you. ★★★★★

Game #4 - MLB the Show 17 (PS4)
Est Playtime 15+ hours (online and in Road to the Show mode)
I occasionally play a lot of sports games and while I was fine with MLB the Show 16 a friend of mine who I regularly play sports games with got this game so of course I ended up following suit. Overall it was a slight improvement over MLB the Show 16 especially when it came to bunting (16 had a glitch where you could regularly bunt for base hits and even drive in runs with it) and I totally dug the Retro mode. ★★★☆☆

Game #5 - NBA 2K19 (PS4)
Est Playtime 10 + hrs (Online & Career Mode)
I'm not a big basketball guy (I'll pick up/purchase and play a NBA game maybe two or 3 times a decade), I only ended up picking this up to play with the above mentioned friend ( I was kicking his @$$ in Football & Baseball and he doesn't do Hockey) and to be honest this game had me pissed (I was about to literally chuck this Motherf***er out the window after spending hours playing and practicing in the game) about the shooting mechanic (how the f**k can I be standing in front of the ballhandler in his grill with my hands up, and he make a easy 3pt shot from well outside of the 3pt line that also says he was wide open/uncontested) as well as the fact that they locked most of the historic teams (like the 95-96 Bulls, 07-08 Celtics, 92-93 Hornets, etc.) behind a wall that requires you to win multiple online matches, though the only saving grace (so far) is that when I actually managed to beat my friend online (which was a small miracle in and of itself......thank you all time Bulls team :p) it unlocked all the historic teams he'd unlocked (which was all but 2 of them) for me. ★★☆☆☆

Game #6 - MLB the Show 19 (PS4)
Est Playtome 15 + hours (Road to the Show & Moments mode)
After playing a lot of The Show 17 I went on a Baseball kick and ended up getting this game, which I've found to be quite an improvement over the last 2 iterations (the Show 16 & 17) of the game that I've played. I'm especially loving the new Moments mode (which they plan to keep updating over the course of the year) and the tweaks they've made to Diamond Dynasty to make it more accessible to people (like me) who were not a fan of the mode's previous online only component. ★★★★★

Game #7 - Devil May Cry 5 (Xbox One)
Est Playtime 10+ hrs (Story Mode) 5/5/19
I've played a handful of the games in the series (1,4, DmC) prior to playing this game, but only ever finished one of them (DmC) so after seeing some gameplay videos & positive reviews I decided to pick it up. Overall I really enjoyed the game and it's story, but I especially enjoyed playing as the mysterious V and his three demon familiars mainly because they were imo a nice change of pace from both Dante & Nero. ★★★★☆

Game #8 - Mortal Kombat 11 (PS4)
Est playtime 13+ hrs (story mode, klassic towers, Towers of Time, Krypt) on 5/09/19 and Platinum Trophy on 6/28/19
I'm a long time fan of the Mortal Kombat series and given how much I liked the last 2 entries in the series picking up this game was a no brainer. Overall I really enjoyed this game so much so I'm very close to getting the Platinum trophy for the game (I'm one trophy short, just need to play 36 more Kasual online matches) despite the game's grindy nature. ★★★★★

Game #9 - Shantae Half Genie Hero (Xbox One)
Est Playtime - 7 hrs (98% item & story completion) on 5/13/19
This is the third Shantae game I've beaten ( Risky's Revenge via the 3DS Virtual Console and Pirate's Curse on the 3DS) and while I do own a physical Wii U version of the game I ended up playing the Xbox One version since it was available via the Xbox GamePass service. Overall I enjoyed the game and may end up getting the DLC for the Wii U version of the game down the road just so I have another excuse to revisit the game. ★★★☆☆

Game #10 - Titanfall 2 (Xbox One)
Est Playtime - 6 hrs, finished Campaign mode on 5/14/19 with all but 8 Achievements
I got this game last year while it was on sale for $5 cause I heard it was a big improvement over the first Titanfall game, but didn't get around to playing it until recently and I gotta say I whole heartedly agree with that sentiment especially when it came to the game's campaign mode. ★★★★☆

Game #11 - Castlevania (PS4 via the Castlevania Anniversary Collection)
Est Playtime - 2 hrs & 30 mins, finished the game on 5/16/19
I'm a big fan of the Castlevania series (the first one I saw/got to play was the , at the time newly released Castlevania 3 , but the first one I "fell in love with" was Castlevania Bloodlines on the Sega Genesis) and have played & loved many games in the series so when Konami announced they were coming out with a 8 game Castlevania collection I jumped all over it like a fat kid on a cupcake despite owning multiple copies for about half of the games in the collection. So I picked up the collection and instantly dove into the classic first game which I promptly tore through before encountering a massive bug that froze my game at about the 50 min mark (just as I was approaching the Death boss fight) made me have to start over and of course I didn't find out until after I got hit with the freezing bug that the collection allows you to load & save state your game by hitting the L2 button. ★★★★☆

Game #12 - Castlevania 2: Simon's Quest (PS4 via the Castlevania Anniversary Collection)
Est Playtime - 4 hrs, finished the game with the "Normal" ending on 5/16/19
Prior to playing through the AC version of this game I had put in maybe 2 hrs into the Wii U virtual console version of this game getting about halfway through before giving up on it. So I decided now was the best time to rectify that and for the first hour or so most of the stuff I remembered from my last playthrough of the game came right to me before I hit a brick wall mostly in the form of heart farming in order to get a few items, dying/having to use continues before I could get said item and having to repeat the whole process again. Overall it wasn't too bad of a game, it just required a decent amount of grinding .......and a strategy guide (;) :p) to get through it. I ended up managing to be Dracula in about 11 in game days which was good enough for the "Normal" ending which lets be honest sucked balls. ★★★☆☆

Game #13 - Castlevania Adventure (PS4 via the Castlevania Anniversary Collection)
Est Playtime - 3 hrs, finished the game on 5/17/19
This was the first time I had played the game and overall I can see why it's considered to be a bad game, but considering it was the first Castlevania game on the Gameboy it wasn't that bad. ★★☆☆☆

Game #14 - Castlevania Adventure 2: Belmont's Revenge (PS4 via the Castlevania Anniversary Collection)
Est Playtime - 3 hrs, finished the game on 5/18/19
Just like with the first Castlevania Gameboy game this was the first time I played this game and I gotta say it's definitely a pretty good improvement over the first game. ★★★☆☆

Game #15 - Kid Dracula (PS4 via the Castlevania Anniversary Collection)
Est Playtime - 3 hrs, finished the game on 5/19/19
This was another game I played for the first time, mainly because it was also the first time this game was available in my region. Overall it was an interesting game as it was more of a Mega Man clone than a traditional Castlevania game also it was a bit weird traversing the "NY City" subways and encountering a axe wielding enemy that looks awfully a lot like Jason Voorhees from Friday the 13th. ★★★☆☆

Game #16 - Castlevania III (PS4 via the Castlevania Anniversary Collection)
Est. Playtime - 10 + hrs, finished the game 4 times - first a Trevor only run on 5/19/19 then a Trevor & Grant run on 5/20/19
It's been a few years since I've last played this game (via the Wii U Virtual Console) so for this playthrough I decided to do a Trevor only run which was a lot more challenging than I was expecting but I managed to finally do it. I then decided to do subsequent runs with the two remaining characters and I gotta say that I was completely surprised to find that Sypha's fire powerup can serious fuck Dracula up, ★★★☆☆

Game #17 - Super Castlevania IV (PS4 via the Castlevania Anniversary Collection)
Est. Playtime - 6 hrs, beat the game on 5/21/19
I had originally played and beaten this game a few years back, but since I decided to go "trophy hunting" for Castlevania Anniversary Collection I ended up re visiting this game and outside of some slow down I still enjoyed playing this game. ★★★★☆

Game #18 - Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon - Classic Edition (PS4)
Est Playtime - 6+ hrs, beat the game (normal dificulty) on 5/24/19
I first played this game last year on the 3DS (I was a KS Backer and got it for free) and really enjoyed it (and after this last playthrough I still do) so when Limited Run Games announced they were not only coming out with a physical version of the game for the PS4, Vita, & Switch they were also releasing a "Classic Edition" which featured a number of physical goodies (poster, soundtrack, etc. and artwork by the guy behind the box art for Castlevania III. ★★★★☆

Game #19 - Castlevania Bloodlines (PS4 via the Castlevania Anniversary Collection)
Est Play time - 6+ hrs, beat the game on Normal Difficulty with Eric Lecarde on 5/26/19
I've played and beaten this game numerous times, but I had never beaten the game with Eric Lecarde so I decided that now was as good enough a time to finally remedy that. ★★★★★

Game #20 - Castlevania Dracula X (3DS Virtual Console)
Est Play time - 5 hrs, beat game on normal difficulty with the good ending on 5/29/19
As you can tell I've been on something of a Castlevania kick lately (part of it is due to the release of the Castlevania Anniversary Collection the other part of it is due to the upcoming release of Castlevania spiritual successor Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night) and since there is only a small handful of games in the series I haven't played before I decided to tackle one of them (all that's left now is Legends, Legacy of Darkness, Harmony of Dissonance, & Judgement) in this case Dracula X since I had just recently (last year) played Rondo of Blood for the first time. Overall I'm kinda luke warm on the game as there were a lot of infuriating moments (mostly caused by down right evil design choices involving Enemy Placement, level design, and the final boss fight ) that I encountered while playing the game that made it really hard/difficult to beat on Normal difficulty. ★★★☆☆

Game #21 - Guacamelee 2 (Steam/PC)
Playtime - 9 hrs 25 mins, beat story mode on normal difficulty (w/49% completion overall) on 6/5/19 ★★★☆☆

Game #22 - Gears of War 4 (Xbox One)
Est Playtime - 10+ hours, beat story campaign on normal difficulty on 6/12/19
I originally started playing this game back when if first came out though it was mostly the online multiplayer modes and about an hour of the game's story campaign. With Gears 5 finally getting a release date I figured now would be as good a time as any to go back into the game and finish the campaign mode which I felt was meh until the last act which when things imo really started picking up. ★★★☆☆

Game #23 - Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night (PS4)
Playtime - 40+ hrs, beat story mode on 6/21/19 and got the Platinum trophy on 6/26/19
I've been waiting a little over 4 years for this game and as a backer of this game I'm overall thrilled with the game. I'm so thrilled with the game that I've played through the game twice (Once on Normal difficulty followed by a NG+ playthrough on Hard difficulty), got the Platinum Trophy, and even got all the Boss Medals for beating the bosses without getting hit. ★★★★★

Game #24 - Jak & Daxter: The Precursor Legacy (PS2 Classics on PS4)
Est Playtime - 8 + hrs, beat story mode and obtained the Platinum Trophy on 6/28/19
I have a long history with this game dating all the way back to the PS2 days when I got a PS2 demo disc for the game directly from Sony (they had a official fan club, which I was a member of and they would randomly send out demos and promo merch to memebers) and instantly fell in love with the demo. Later that year it got released and off course I ended up getting it for Christmas, I was so happy with the game I ended up 100% completing it, heck even my sister loved it and had to 100% complete it herself which is a rarity for her. Well earlier this year I finally got my copies of Jax & Daxter 1 & 2 and have been slowly playing through the first game (taking it in, enjoying my playthrough of the game, which I was playing the first time in years) which I finally finished nabbing the Platinum trophy along the way. My sister on the other hand heard about this physical re-release found out I had it and promptly came over to play it, within a week she had it 100% completed along with the Platinum trophy which was her very first one. ★★★★★

Game #25 - Halo 5: Guardians (Xbox One)
Est Playtime - 10 + hrs, beat story mode on Normal difficulty on 7/8/19
I originally started playing this about 2 years ago when I got on a Halo kick and had completed all of the games in the Master Chief Collection, but I never got around to finishing it til now. Overall story wise I felt it was meh as the initial hook of Master Chief being hunted down was slowly discarded as the story went on. ★★☆☆☆

Game #26 - Batman: Arkham Asylum (PS4)
Est Playtime - 10+ hrs, beat story mode on Normal difficulty with 68% of the game's trophies on 7/24/19
I've been a long time fan of the Arkham games having played & platinumed/100% completed the first 2 games in the series (in the case of Arkham Asylum I 100% completed the game on both Xbox 360 & PS3) as well as beat both Arkham Origins & Arkham Knight. Well a few days ago I saw that the Arkham Collection (with Asylum, City, & Knight along with all the DLC) was on sale for $23 and even though I own all 3 games in one form or another (Asylum & City on PS3 and Knight on Xbox One) I decided to pick the collection up anyways. At the moment I'm still debating on if I want to try to go for the Platinum trophies for all 3 games even though I have the Platinum for Asylum & City on PS3, but for now I'm content just replaying/playing through the story modes for each game. ★★★★☆

Game #27 - Assassin's Creed Odyssey (PS4)
Est Playtime - 100+ hrs, beat story mode on Normal difficulty with 97% of the game's trophies on 8/9/19
I'm a long time fan of the series (going all the way back to 2007 with the first game in the series) so I ended up picking up this game late last year and initially only ended up playing about 10hrs before getting bored. I eventually returned to it a few weeks ago and got really into it, I got so into that I about 100% completed the game (trophywise I just need to fully upgrade the ship to get the platinum) which is something I haven't done/attempted with an Assassin's Creed game since Assassin's Creed 2 and thanks to some free $10 PSN gift cards (earned via the Sony Rewards program) & a PSN sale I ended up getting the season pass (with AC III remastered) for $4. I've also beaten the first chapter in the "Legacy of the First Blade" DLC (as well as gotten all the trophies for it) before taking a break from the game, though I do plan on beating the rest of the DLC chapters down the road. ★★★★☆

Game #28 - The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan (PS4)
Est Playtime - 5 to 6 hrs
I was a big fan of Supermassive Games previous game Until Dawn so I naturally ended up picking up their latest game, The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan. Overall I enjoyed the game even though I kinda disappointed in how short it was as I was able to get a so-so ending (3 out of 5 main characters survived) which left on something of a cliff hanger, in about 5 to 6 hours. With that said the game hints at multiple endings which will definitely encourage repeated playthroughs. ★★★☆☆

Game #29 - God of War (PS4)
Est Playtime - 20+ hrs
I've been a long time fan of the God of War games and ended up getting this game as a Christmas present. Overall I enjoyed the game though it did have a few parts I found to be frustrating which led me to take a couple of lengthy breaks., but now that I've beaten the story I may end up coming back to the game to try to 100% complete it. ★★★★☆

Game #30 - Batman: Arkham Knight (PS4)
Est Playtime - 20+ hrs
As far as story & gameplay this is still my least favorite of Rocksteady's "Arkham Trilogy" because the big "twist" involving the Arkham Knight was pretty much spoiled by one of the Pre-Order Story DLC's and the batmobile segments felt hamfisted & overused.....though I do love that it has the Burton Batman suit and batmobile that unfortunately couldn't be used in the game's story mode (which imo would have been awesome) ★★★☆☆

Game # 31 - Gears of War 5 (Xbox One)
Est Playtime - 10+ hrs, beat story mode on intermediate difficulty on 9/28/19
I had started playing this game as soon as it became available via Xbox's Gamepass service but ended up taking a break towards the tale end of Act 2. Well after getting back from vacation I decide to jump back into the game and ended up beating the rest of the campaign in about 5 to 6(ish) hours. Overall I kinda liked the story and it imo looks like the finale of this trilogy (Gears 6) is gonna be crazy. ★★★☆☆

Game #32 - Star Wars Battlefront 2 (Xbox One)
Est Playtime - 15+ hrs, beat the main story mode & Resurrection campaign on intermediate difficulty on 9/30/19
I picked this game up for dirt cheap last year mainly because I was interested in the single player campaign (due to the hook of playing as a member of the Empire) and in that regard the game was a big disappointment for me. Which is why it took me a while to go back to the game to finish both story campaigns and while I was at it I decided to hop into the multiplayer for a little bit, which was better than I had expected....which wasn't much. ★★★☆☆

Game #33 - Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2019 (PS4)
Est Playtime - 200+ hrs of Online Multiplayer

Game #34 - Yakuza 0 (PS4)
Est Playtime - 30+ hrs, beat story mode on normal difficulty on 12/2/19

Katamari Damacy REROLL

About 5h, replaying some of the stages a couple times but mostly not.

This game has aged really well and it's a dream to play in the Switch. The controls are still somewhat weird, but it's part of the charm, on a way. It does feel like you're struggling to move a giant boulder.

Just wish it wasn't so short, as it's kind of not worth 20€. If it was Katamari Damacy + We Love Katamari, it would be a steal for the price. As it stands, it's more of a 9.99€ game.

My Score: ★★★★☆

CELESTE 5/5 First playthrough resulted in 68/175 strawberries, 1366 deaths, and a time of 07:52:00.742. Oh, and 10/30 achievements. Can't wait to re-climb Celeste and find all those missing collectibles.
Riptide GP: Renegade 2/5 Polished hydrojet racer with high customisation. Only played because it was leaving Game Pass and I wanted to get 100% cheevos - damn, gotta get my priorities straight! Long drawn-out campaign but couch co-op would keep the action alive.

Never gonna do this...

#1 Shenmue
Yes I done beated in in about 20 hours and I liked it a lot.

#2 Shenmue II
Busted the game in around 30 hours and I liked it sure but not as much as the first game.

#3 Mario Odyssey

Disappointed me until the main story is over when it suddenly gets much, much better.

#4 The Beginners Guide
A thoughtful take on the act of making games, and criticising them afterwards.

#5 GTA IV
Never beat it back in the day but, you know what, it's alright.

#6 Final Fantasy VII
Loved it. Such a fun game and almost as good as people say it is.

#7 Transistor
Took me a while to get into but it's great. Beautiful art-style and wonderful music.

#8 Forgotton Anne
Another game with lovely visuals. Story is pleasant but the platforming can be frustrating.

#9 Golf Story
Started slow but built into a nice adventure. Cheeky Australian humor and fun golf mechanics (truly the sport of kings).

#10 Owlboy
Pretty game, solid gameplay, okay story. Wasn't enthralled but was worth the time I put in.

#11 Final Fantasy VIII (Original)
I loved it to begin with but it goes downhill after Disc 3. Characters get pushed aside and because I wasn't taken by the love story between Squall and Rinoa, I think I missed out. The final boss really infuriated me for various reasons (mostly me sucking but also the RNG when losing junctions). All in all, a mixed bag but I'm happy to finally finish it after 20 years.

#12 Donut County
A whimsical slice-of-life puzzler that's easy-peasy but often very funny.

#13 Analogue: A Hate Story
A Korean-inspired visual novel where you befriends artificial waifus. I liked it.

Games I started, played a lot of but didn't finish:

Doom (2016), Killer 7, Octopath Traveler, Oxenfree, Super Metroid, Okami, SSBU: World of Light.

I completed 24 games in 2018. I don't expect to make 52 without a lot of really short ones, but hey, I've more than enough in my backlog alone to give it a go.

----------------------

Completed: 18/52

JANUARY

1: Breath of Fire (SNES) - 30+ hrs
My first JRPG. It's a good game but I'm not a fan of the battle system and constant encounters. Worth finishing for the exploration and characters but I'll be very picky about what other JRPGs I try.

2: Oxenfree (PC) - 5 hrs
As a horror fan this hit a lot of the right notes for me. The use of conversations felt fresh and worked well. I got quite caught up in it and liked the characters and voice acting.

FEBRUARY

3: Skyborn (PC) - 11 hrs

Another JRPG, so soon despite what I said, but I already had it. Liked it but still lukewarm on the battle system in these games.

4: Jim Power (Amiga) - ~8 hours
An oldie and an alright game. Bit too much memorisation but looks and sounds great.

5: PACMAN-256 (PC) - 23 hrs
Really fun Pac game. A to B route, weapons power ups. Got all the achievements, a decent hi-score and sunk many hours into it. That's beat enough for me.

MARCH

6: Isoland (PC) - 4 hrs

Like a smaller simpler less annoying version of Myst. Enjoyed it.

7: Patterna (PC) - 32 hrs
HexCells on steroids. Good for the brain.

8: Isoland 2: Ashes of Time (PC) - 3.5 hrs
More of the same. Good enough.

9: Her Story (PC) - 3.5 hrs
Text adventure meets disjointed walking simulator and better than that sounds. Riveting and unique.

APRIL

10: Turrican 3 (Amiga) - 1.5 hrs

Old platformer. It's okay.

11: The Farlanders (PC) - 5 hrs
Small puzzle-ish / resource management colony building game. Nice distraction.

12: Midnight Club: Los Angeles - Complete Edition (PS3) - 45+ hrs
Sequel please.

13: Ghost Needs Sheets (PC) - 1.5 hrs
Silly homebrew RPG. Dancing in hell was good.

14: You Have to Win the Game (PC) - 2 hrs
Tricky metroidvania with a cool retro style. Many deaths. Enjoyed exploring. Length is about right.

JUNE

15: Just Cause 2 (PS3) - 49 hrs

You can do handbrake turns in a surprisingly affordable tank. Great fun lah.

16: F17 Challenge (Amiga) - 4 hrs
Nice old school racer but way too easy.

AUGUST

17: Daytona USA (PS3/PSN) - ~10 hrs

Great port of a great racer.

18: War Hammer 40k: Space Marine (PS3) - ~12 hrs
Looks cool, like the hack n slash FPS mash up, and there's a lot of frantic killing going on. Thumbs up.

Abandoned:
Stronghold
Rogue Legacy
Space Chem

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.
This sounds more like a challenge for my wallet
If all you ever play are AAA $60 games on release day, then yeah this challenge can get pretty expensive. If you're patient and can pick things up when they're on sale, have a huge backlog of games you've purchased but haven't played yet, or routinely replay older games you already own or have beat in the past, the challenge is usually a bit more reasonable. Also if you have PS+ and/or XBL, the free games they give out each month are often good candidates. If you have an Xbox, Game Pass is $100 for the year and there are more than enough games included there to complete the challenge (and then some). On PC, check things like Humble Bundle regularly for stuff or even the $12 "Humble Monthly" usually has some good games (currently Just Cause 3, Wizard of Legend, Project Cars 2, and 4 more mystery games in a few days). NeoGAF even runs some Steam key giveaways occasionally where you have a chance to get some pretty good games for free. If you have Twitch Prime (included with Amazon Prime), they typically give away 4-5 games a month. GOG even usually gives away 3-4 games a year.

I'd venture to guess that even if you had absolutely no video games whatsoever, you could find a way to play 52 interesting and fun video games for a whole lot less than you think.

On holiday in America right now but I want to accomplish this. Do games you started in 2018 and carried over to 2019 count or nah?

I actually see it as a challenge to try and reduce my backlog. Even though I failed the challenge, 2018 was the first year since I'm backlogging where I beat more games than I purchased! ... to be specific, 2 more games. But after having a 2-year -80 streak, I still notch it as a win.

9/52 Completed
Hoping I can keep this up!
(if I could stop myself from playing 40h of warframe/week it would help...)

Started In January (or first time played during this year in)

1 [✓] Minit [PC] - 3h21, January 1st
story is over, 80% completed and fine leaving it there - Fun premise but novelty wore off by the end. - recommended.

2 [ ] Castlevania: Lord of shadow UE [PC] - 14 hours in.
Chapter Seven, Stage three

3 [✓] Iconoclasts [PSVita] - 10h54m21s, January 4th
Saw the credits (75% complete) Had much fun playing through it. lovely metroidvania - Heavily recommend to any metroid fan.

4 [✓] Earth Defense Force 2 [PSVita] - 16h, January 5th
I feel dumb adding this one I picked it up right after I finished iconoclast to do a mission or two, realised i didn't actually finish the story with any class, had 1 mission left to do... so basically played 15 minutes of it to finish story. - EDF games are great, everyone should at least try one of those and that one is a portable version of a great serie that i love. - Must try for anyone looking to kill Bugs/Aliens

5 [✓] Muramasa Rebirth [PSVita] 13h58m January 17th
I finished both main campaigns + 1 alternate ending, I have 83 swords and Im feeling good stopping there, it was a fun time but i got my fill of it and the second campaign was underwhelming (it uses the same kind of combat and the same map with some different paths and bosses) would still recommend.

6 [✓] Ace Combat 7 : Skies Unkown [PS4] 8h, Jan 22nd
Omg I missed a good ace combat, it's one of those games you must own at least one of those per generation of consoles. Planes pilot super good, story is as usual so serious in itself, cool stuff is happening all the time and theres a cute princess.
10/10 jpeg dog
And it gave me another amazing ace combat for free, seriously recommending it.
7 [✓] Florence [Android] Short, didn't time it, Jan 31st
Very bittersweet love story that i really enjoyed. I heard so much about it during the end of the year rounding up of games discussions and felt like i should check it out. it is effective at what it sets out to be and is super pretty to look at. would absolutely recommend anyone to pic it up from the app store if you don't mind spending 3,69$ (canadian rupees) for a game that is just about or above an hour.
February

8 [✓] DrillDozer [GBA] 6 Hours, Crook rank completion, Feb 5th
Lovely game I overlooked during the GBA era its really fun but some bosses are a b****. I might work on 100%ing that one , its fun.
9 [✓] Pikuniku [PC] 3-4 hours, Feb 12th
[free with twitch prime, still available through February 28th] Very cute and fun, made me laugh and was a very enjoyable puzzle/ exploration/ platformer. Visually simplistic but pleasing to look at, never gets too hard, "boss" battles are a bit unimpressive but it kind of fits the game. Definitely pick it up if you have twitch prime.
10 [ ] Warhammer: Vermintide 2 [PC] 9 Hours in
Currently playing Co-op with friends. i'm having a blast !
11 [✓] The Grand Kingdom [PSVita] 26h04m, Feb 23rd
Despite it's repetitive gameplay i enjoyed the combat mechanics and was a fine timesink. I would not play it again, I had a bit of fun but by the end seemed almost like a chore to do anything.

Game is pretty good then? I've had my eye on it for a while and the 6 hour play time along with the fact it's on the Switch now sounds perfect.

I didn't know much about the game, only that it was going for an anime aesthetic art style. I was pleasantly surprised with the story/setting and its idea of objects being forgotten by their owners and sent to another realm to live. It's not challenging with its platforming, but it moves at a good pace broken up with enough dialogue scenes that I feel it makes for a great time.

Mate 52 games is too much! I need to forget my girlfriend, son and job to do it!

I mean, I work three jobs and have a family and was still able to finish it last year (including some hefty RPG games). Granted, my kids are "adults" now but they still live at home, and two of my jobs are part time.

One of the reasons I'm loving the Switch these days is that I can pack it with me to work and play it on my lunch break, between jobs, when I travel, etc. Breaking up my day with gaming is great for my personal mental health and well being.

Mate, I try to play every day, but I took again Metal Gear V to PS4 in the winter sale (7,99€ with al DLCS) and I played almost every day and It will take to finish the game minimun a month. I can´t follow your rithm.

You have too much jobs, too much kids and want to end too much games... The only think that you need now to do this more difficult is to get married two or three times more this year.

Which are the kind of games that you played?

First try here. Finished the first today:

1. Bloodborne + Old Hunters DLC: Amazing game. The DLC bosses are insanely Hard, but the harder they are the better you feel after finally killing them… 9.5/10

I'm in. (3/52)

1: Mortal Kombat XL (Xbox One) - About 5 hours
The 5 hours only include the time spent on the story mode. The problem with the game's story is the fact that it was designed for newcomers. This means that all the characters spend the first couple of hours talking like they've read each others wiki pages, talking about each others entire background. This is obviously done to introduce newcomers to the characters and the lore but it doesn't really help the plot get going. The plot isn't anything special anyway but it's way better than those first few hours make it out to be. One more thing: Johnny Cage is one of the worst video game characters I've ever had the displeasure to play with. He constantly drops forced and bad one-liners in the most serious situations, it was so weird and stupid. 6/10 for story + combat

2: Yakuza Kiwami (PS4) - 25 hours
Whatever good things you've heard about this serious, I can confirm. Loved this game. It has memorable story moments, likable characters with clear intentions, a solid fighting system, fun open world activities and a great soundtrack. Looking forward to dive into all the other games in this series. 9/10

2: Jazzpunk (PC) - 3 hours
This was alright. You play the role of a spy and need to complete objectives in a few levels whilst being able to do little side tasks like throwing popcorn at people in a theater, beating up a wrestler and playing VR tennis. Some of these can be kind of funny. I'd describe the humor of this game as hit and miss. For me personally, it was miss most of the time. The game is basically one internet meme and while it is charming, sometimes the jokes seemed forced. 5/10

I decided because of that credibility in gaming thread to link each game I complete to my true achievements stat page. So if anyone wants to see how much,or how little of the game I completed they are welcome to do so.

1: Shenmue (Four gatchas outta five).

I never played the original back 'in 't day so it was interesting experiencing it anew in crisp, clean high definition. Of course I turned on the Japanese VA and put it in 4:3 mode straight away because momma didn't raise no fool.

The game plays out like a methodical detective story and it's quite interesting to see how open-world games were envisaged back in the early 2000s. There's nothing like today's need to keep the player entertained within an inch of their lives. It's sort of like a crossover of Animal Crossing in its rigorous appreciation of the mundanity of everyday life crossed with an early progenitor of the Yakuza series in its bloodthirsty Virtua Fighter-inspired combat. There are moments of tension, excitement and fear, and that's not just when you're waiting to see which gatcha capsule you're getting.

Like any good lover, it has infuriating moments. The harbour part in particular towards the end is boring as fuck. It's basically five days of cut-scenes and forklift driving which grinds the game to a halt and doesn't fit with the glacially increasing velocity that has been the narrative up to that point. Nobody questions it or minds in what amounts to some god damn real videogame logic. The romance between Ryo and Nozomi didn't work for me either but I did shed a tear at the thought of Tom (Tomo) leaving to go back to America. Don't worry hotdog bro, we'll always have Yokosuka.

All in all, it works and it strikes a good nostalgia trip, much like remembering what it used to be trying to find a payphone to phone my mum to tell her I wouldn't be home for tea.

I'm looking forward to the second game.

I will throw my hat into the ring.

Current progress:

1: Life is Strange: Before the Storm | January 2 | 9 hours (Rough estimate)

I really liked it it`s my second play-through and i enjoyed playing it before life is strange as i feel it fleshed out some of the characters.

2: Life is strange | January 3 | 15 Hours (Rough estimate)

It's my second play-through, Cool Telltale style game with an interesting mechanic that makes it unique from other similar games.

3: Life is strange 2: The awesome adventures of captain spirit and Episode 1 | January 4 | 5-6 Hours (Rough estimate)

really enjoyed both episodes i really liked the interaction between the main characters in the first episode. The story so far is interesting and i am looking forward to the next episodes.

Currently working on:

Killer is dead

Fist of the north star: Lost paradise

Also planing on starting a play-trough of the Daughters of Ash mod for Dark souls: Prepare to die edition.

4: Killer is Dead | January 12 | 8 Hours and 30 Minutes

A character action game by grasshopper manufacture. The story is weird and confusing but in a god way. The game has an interesting art style as well and the gameplay is solid. Just to let anyone intrested know the game does also have a weird mini game where you need to stare at a woman's body at a bar while she is not looking to build up the guts to give her a gift so you can “Win her heart” witch will award you different items and sub weapons. Its kinda cringy but if you are used to weird japanese mini games it`s nothing to extreme and you can ignore this if you wish but you will miss out on some items and sub weapons (Personally i barely used any of them).

(Is this the right way to add to the list ? im new to NeoGAF and i didn`t seem to find an option to edit my old post.)

1. Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition (PS4):
Gameplay:
Plays solid and smooth like the previous entry, feels awesome all the way through. Nero, The main protagonist, feels like a fresh new beginning to the series, and going back to Dante took some recollection, but after a bit it felt like riding an old bike, and I was doing even better with him, than I was with Nero.
Story: Wacky and ridiculous as usual, wouldn't have it any other way!
Art Style/Music: The designs of the characters are awesome, both the heroes and villains alike. Kinda wished that Trish would stay in her Gloria costume :messenger_smirking: and I would say that I like Lady's DMC 3 design more than this one. And the music is sick as usual, can't say that I like it more than 3's or 5's but still awesome in either case.
Gripes: I don't have much to complain about except that I felt that the final boss fight was a little underwhelming compared to 3's and the platforming sucks! I hate platforming in these games, its better than 1 and 2 but still less platforming for this series the better.
Additional Info: I completed the main story, and will definitely come back to finish the other content, this game probably has to be my second favorite in the series.
Final Score: 5/5

2. Sky Force Anniversary (PS4):
Gameplay:
Good ol' shoot em up action that i felt was better playing with my brother than by myself. The upgrade system is fun to experiment with and makes the levels several times easier.
Story: The story is lackluster, with very few dialogue between levels. Shit there's only 2 voice actors.
Art Style/Music: The art style is fine, but the main show taker is the music, fun retro action music to go along with you blasting enemies out of the skies.
Gripes: You can feel the repetitiveness of the game as you have the missions many times in order to proceed.
Additional Info: N/A
Final Score: 3/5

3. Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix (PS4):
Gameplay:
Surpassing its previous title, the action is more fluid, the camera works better, and the mechanics improve the game in many ways. Doing many awesome combos, mix and match attacks with the different forms that change up the style of combat as well.
Story: The story of the first was sure alot easier to follow than this one, but actually experiencing Chain of Memories and 358/2 Days and my ability to understand more than I was at the age of 10. So while it has it's moments of cringe, I would still say the story is better than 1 but still lacks behind CoM and 358/2.
Art Style/Music: The designs of the characters.... are interesting to say the least. The designs of the heartless and nobodies can be cool, but the 'human' characters are just nothing but zippers and belts... so many belts... But I will say that Sora has way better design than he does in the first one, and The Organization look cool in just simple long black coats.
Gripes: The main grip i have about game is the amount of cringe there are at times.
Additional Info: Another thing this game has over the first entry is the amount of content, I didn't finish everything. Ill probably get around to it another time, as leveling up in this game can also take a good amount of time.
Final Score: 5/5

1. Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue: Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance HD (PS4):
Gameplay:
Fast and frantic gameplay that relies heavily on flowmotion. The command list is an upgraded version of what was found in Birth By Sleep. To obtain these commands, you can find them through chests in the world, learned from ability links via raising Dream Eaters which act as your comrades), and purchased through moogle stores. Story: To defend against the oncoming evil, Riku and Sora must become Keyblade Masters by passing the Mark of Mastery exam given by Yen Sid. The goal is to find the seven locked keyholes among the sleeping worlds lost to darkness. There are some fantastic revelations within this game that set up perfectly for the oncoming Kingdom Hearts 3. This is a must play game if you have any interest in understanding the story in the upcoming new release.
Art Style/Music: Classic Disney mixed with Nomura's strange fetishes for belts. Oh, also Yoko Shimomura. Fantastic work all around.
Gripes: Given that this was originally on a handheld platform, I can forgive some of the issues with the camera, however when fighting certain bosses (coupled with flow motion), it feels almost impossible to control.
Additional Info: Xion is best girl.
Final Score: 4/5

Reserved. 52/52, mission compurete!

1. Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, 9/10
Really Liked the campaign, this kind of sci-fi stuff is what I like the most (focus on military stuff eg. Mass Effect). Jon Snow could have been better, but oh well.

2. Far Cry 5, 8/10
Good game with too much stuff to do. Did only the most essential quests and skipped almost all of the side stuff. Villain was good, endings were... surprising?

3. Assassin's Creed: Origins, 9/10
Really refreshing title after the so predictable Syndicate. Setting works really well, because you get to see many interesting historical environments and people. I also got the season pass, but I am not done with that content yet. Probably gonna count the DLC as a separate entry.

4. Assassin's Creed: Origins DLC, 8/10
This was the first AC I got the dlc for. Probably not gonna make the same mistake again. I mean there's nothing really wrong with the Curse and The Hidden Ones in particular, but it's just more of the same. Curse has those trippy underworld moments, but other than that it's the same "go there", "climb there", "kill this", "find this" etc. thing you have going in the main game. The sense of urgency is kinda gone too, feels like you're just on some random field trip to the east/south. Wouldn't really recommend, unless you really enjoy the gameplay loop from main game.

5. Resident Evil 2 Remake, 9.5/10
I beat both runs (Leon -> Claire) during the weekend, just couldn't stop, because the game is that good. Just amazing atmosphere, gunplay and pacing. Might actually end up cracking my top 10 games of all time!

6. Assassin's Creed, 8/10
Blast from the past. Last time I played this was in 2008 or 2009, I think. In 10 years one can definitely forget a lot. I didn't remember most of the bosses and events, ending I still did. The game looks and feels surprisingly good on the X. I had a few crashes, but other than that it was smooth. Gameplay is definitely a bit outdated. Climbing and combat both feel clunky compared to the latest entries. Still, I think AC is good for its time. Its scale and the amount of npcs must have really felt like next-gen in 2007.

7. Kingdom Hearts 3, 7.5/10
I have very mixed feelings about this one. On one hand the combat and disney segments were pretty awesome, but on the other hand the cutscenes involving original KH characters were just awful and there were quite many of them... Story was dumb too. This is probably gonna be my first and last KH at the same time, I just cant bear watching another cringefest like this :D

8. Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition, 8.5/10
Was my second time playing the game. Played the original back in 2013. Still Holds up pretty well.

9. Life is Strange: Before the Storm, 9/10
Got the gamepass trial for a few games (mainly this and the new TB). Much like the first game, I really liked this one. The game just hits straight in the feels. For some reason I'm not too excited about LiS 2, because the story seems to revolve around new characters and setting.

10. Shadow of the Tomb Raider, 8/10
Feels like the worst entry in the series. Too much focus put on stealth and puzzle solving. Platforming/climbing and gunplay are my favorite parts of the new TB games.

11. Doom (2016), 9.X/10
Man this game is still amazing. Runs really well on the X as well. Love the gunplay, guns, progression system and graphics. Got lost in a few levels, but other than that no major complaints.

12. Mega Man 11, 8/10
Kinda disappointed actually. Music is kinda bad and some of the levels are really annoying. Some of the new gimmicks are also a bit overplayed. Nevertheless it was still worth playing. Also, some of the options make this a bit more replayable than the older games if I suddenly get the itch to play some Blue Bomber again My rankings: 10 > 9 > 7 > 6 > 5 > 2 > 11 > 4 > 3 > 1 > 8

13. Axiom Verge, 9.5/10
Such an awesome game. Beat it for the first time yesterday and it might already be my favorite Metroidvania. At least it's way up there with SotN, Super Metroid and Ori (love it mostly for the visuals and feels, level design isn't as strong as the other candidates). Oh, and I Loved the OST too! Some of the songs just create such a spooky atmosphere.

14. Fallout 3, 9.5/10
Did a quick playthrough this week just for fun, must have been my fourth time already. I love the feeling of solitude this game gives at times when you're all alone there exploring some abandoned ruins or vault. I really hope they forget about the latest entry and go back to this style of game at some point. Oh and almost forgot to mention, X patch makes loading times ridiculously short, good stuff! I hope they update more of these 360 classics (Mass Effect series, please :3).

15. Wolfenstein: The New Order, 9.5/10
Second playthrough, still love the game. Nazis and plot are so much fun and gunplay is just awesome. Probably gonna play Old Blood next. I haven't tried that one yet.

16. Wolfenstein: Old Blood, 9/10
Yeah this one is pretty great as well. Obviously they had a smaller budget for this one, which shows in the quality of cutscenes and the amount of content. Still good stuff, would recommend to anyone who enjoyed New order.

17. Devil May Cry V, 10/10
Holy shite this game is good. I've already beaten it three times and I just can't just get enough of this stuff. Probably gonna be stuck replaying this game for the next couple of weeks at least, RIP game number 18.

18. Bioshock, 9.5/10
This was my third or fourth playthrough already, not many complaints here, the game is as good as ever. Remastered version's improvements were a nice added bonus (framerate etc.).

19. Assassin's Creed Odyssey, 9/10
Might be my new favorite in the series. I does get a bit grindy at times, but holy hell does ancient Greece look and feel impressive. Alexandria was my favorite part about Origins and this game has even more Greek goodness + SPARTA. Sorry Bayek, but Egypt is a boring desert shithole compared to Greece and its glorious islands. Regarding cool new features, dialogue choices were a welcome addition.
Please give me Imperial Rome next...

20. Magic the Gathering: Arena, 9,5/10
Playing a game for 2 months straight surely counts as beating it? Anyway, I had a great time grinding all the different modes. Magic is by far the best card game and this is great digital version of Magic. This game also has finally managed to destroy my urges to play Hearthstone, so props for that. There are some bugs, sure, but overall this is the best digital card game on the market.

21. Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus, 8,5/10
Kinda disappointed in this game, to be honest. The gunplay and graphics are truly a 5/5, but story was kinda shitty and a little bit too woke for my taste. Level design was also not as varied as in the first game. Also, where is my final boss?????

22. Shadow Complex: Remastered, 8,5/10
I'm really conflicted on this game. It's really fun to play, but at the same time, everything just feels so generic. Story is shit, graphics are shit, enemies and bosses look boring etc. oh well

23. Rivals of Aether, 8/10
Beat all the story modes. This is by far the best smash clone I've ever played. If Smash Ultimate wasn't a thing, I could totally see myself playing this game all the time. Definitely needs more characters though.

24. Shantae: Half-Genie Hero, 8,5/10
Never played these games before, really enjoyed this one. Quirky artstyle and story mixed with castlevaniaeqsue gameplay, yes please. Thanks game pass!

25. Yoshi's Crafted World, 9/10
Finally got around to playing this one afters slamming down cards for a few months and wow, what a charming ride this was. Maybe a bit on the easy side, but still worth every second of my time. The game is fairly long and the levels are really varied. There are just so many cool ideas in here. Space world gave me some serious Super Mario Galaxy vibes. I'd say this is the best Yoshi game I've ever played.

26. New Super Mario Bros. U: Deluxe, 8,5/10
Decided to go through my Switch backlog to make some space in the Switch menu for Pokey man and other 2019 releases. This was a pretty sweet game. I remember beating and hating this game back when the Wii U came out, after playing it now, I don't know why. The level design is really solid and it's actually more challenging than the previous New Marios. I think I like NSMBU more than the new donkey kong country games.

27. Super Mario Maker 2, 10/10
Man, what a fantastic game. Story mode had some of the best 2D Mario levels I've ever played. I really don't know why they haven't tried doing these puzzle-game-like levels in the previous games, works great!

28. Mortal Kombat X, 8,5/10
Story mode was fun and combat mechanics were great. Can't wait to play MK11 with game pass someday :messenger_poop:

29. Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, 10/10
Played again on XONE. This game is still perfect and by far the best game of the PS1/N64 era.

30. Blazing Chrome, 7.5/10
It was fine, but not as good as Contra 3. I would recommend this to any retro lover who has game pass.

31. Ryse: Son of Rome, 8/10
I was positively surprised by this game, based on the reviews I thought it would have been garbage. Combat and general gameplay do get repetitive at times, but thanks to the historical theme I ended up enjoying this one quite a bit.

32. Gears of War 3, 9/10
Game's great even after 9 years. Good gunplay with lots of variation in the campaign missions. Ending was as sweet as I remembered. I love BC for allowing me to come back to these classics years later, last time I booted Gears 3 up was in 2010 or 2011.

33. Quantum Break, 8/10
It was surprisingly good, but I'm glad I didn't have to pay anything for it lol. There was just way too much walking and cutscenes. Story was also not that interesting. Gameplay was the clear winner here, but there wasn't enough of it. Visuals were amazing.

34. Vampyr, 9/10
Wow, really don't get the poor reviews. The story got me hooked right from the start. Got the worst ending, because sucking blood turned out to be quite fun. Never knew I was into vampires this much...

35. Super Lucky's Tale, 8.5/10
Sweet little platformer. Quite creative.

36. Picross S2, 9/10
I've played like every version of picross out there and these Switch versions are really good. Hopefully Picross 3D comes to switch at some point as well!

37. Crash N'Sane Trilogy - Crash Bandicoot, 8.5/10
Never beat Crash 1 before, great game. Some of the later levels were pretty frustrating though.

38. Crash N'Sane Trilogy - Crash 2, 9/10
This one I played as a kid and it's objectively even better than the first game. Can't wait to play the third one!

39. Crash N'Sane Trilogy - Crash 3, 8.5/10
Too many gimmicky stages, but overall solid!

40. Bioshock 2, 8.5/10
Never played Bioshock 2 before. It was surprisingly solid. Innovation on the other hand... nowhere to be found.

41. Diablo 3 (XONE), 10/10
This game still holds up really well. The formula is just really addictive even after like 20 playthroughs + countless hours of Adventure mode. Beat it this time with a friend whose never played Diablo before and he enjoyed it so much that he decided to get it for himself too. I've bought this game 4 times now... (360, PS4, PC and XONE) Should probably get the Switch version as well at some point lol.

42. Guacamelee 2, 8.5/10
At times this games is smooth and fucking amazing and at times it's frustrating as hell. Some of the late game battle arenas and platforming sections really hurt this otherwise amazing game.

43. Fire Emblem: Three Houses, 10/10
What a great year, another masterpiece comes from Japan. I just love everything about this game, never played FE before. Currently doing a second run. I have no interest in other games at the moment...

44. Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, 9,5/10
Man, this game is still badass. Awesome soundtrack and action. Camera is the only reason why I don't give MGR a perfect score. Nanomachines, SON!

45. Diablo 3 (Hardcore)
I'm gonna put Diablo here again. Did a hardcore playthrough this time, wasn't even hard.

46. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered, 9/10
Classic game remastered, campaign still holds up. Nuke scene was EPIC.

47. Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled, 8.5/10
Never was a huge CTR fan back in the day, but man, what a great remake. Campaign was fun, had to play on easy though :messenger_sad_relieved:

48. Bayonetta, 9/10
Great stuff all around. I first played this 10 years ago on the 360 and it still plays just as well in 2019 on the Switch. Looking forward to trying the sequel for the first time!

49. The legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, 9.5/10
Beat ALttP for the first time, what a fun game. At times the game was a bit too cryptic for my taste, but I guess that's a pretty common thing in early 90's action-adventure games :messenger_tongue:. I'm pretty sure this would be a 10/10 if I had nostalgia for it, seems pretty dang groundbreaking for its time.

50. Dragon Quest, 8/10
So much grinding... Still I enjoyed it, always wanted to give this series a try. DQ11 will probably feel spectacular after this one :messenger_tongue:

51. Final Fantasy Adventure, 8.5/10
Never tried the Mana games before, really digged this one (I played the Collection of Mana version). Last boss was a major pain in the ass until I realized I could just spam max attack, lol.

52. Halo 3, 8.5/10
Classic game. Beat it with a buddy. Looks and plays great in the MCC.

53. Nier: Automata, 10/10
Wow, I absolutely LOVE this game. Stunning visuals, amazing music, fun and responsive combat accompanied by great world building, this game has it all. I haven't even finished all the routes yet, but I can already tell that this is going to be one of my favorite games of all time.

54. Spyro the Dragon, 8+/10
Never played these games before, liked it quite a bit. Collecting gems and dashing feels really satisfying!

55. Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage, 8.5/10
Liked it a bit better than the first game. It was a lot easier too. All my friends say that Spyro 3 is the best, will give it a go at some point when I feel like it.

56. Outer Worlds, 8+/10
Mindless, but fun shooter. Writing was okay at times

57. Spyro 3: Year of the Dragon, 9-/10
Yeah the third installment ended up being my favorite after all, really enjoyed some of the additional characters. Some minigames were a miss, but overall the level design was just stellar.

58. Super Mario World, 10/10
What a fucking classic, the ending really hit me with nostalgia. I've beaten this game like bazillion times at this point and it's definitely my favorite 2D Mario after SMB3.

59. Forza Horizon 4, 9.5/10
Holy moly, I'm just ecstatic about the game. I've never been interested in cars or racing games, but this game, I love on so many levels. Driving around at max speed in my Lamborghini has been the greatest experience I've ever had with a racing game. Also, the graphics are just insane on Xbox one X. I'll probably keep playing this till the next Forza hits game pass.

60. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, 9/10
I liked the campaign, visuals were really nice and the story was ok. I was expecting a bit more edge based on the previews, but oh well... MP on the other hand is just amazing... Most fun I've had with a COD game since MW2.

61. Garou: Mark of the Wolves, 9-/10
Classic fighting game from SNK, great roster and mechanics.

62. Luigi's Mansion 3, 9/10
What a sweet game. Creative level design and bosses, length was pretty optimal as well. Fuck that cat, though.

63. Pokemon Sword, 9.5/10
I'm a huge Pokemon fanboy and would give basically every game in the main series at least a 9/10 (maybe not SM). I just didn't find too many things to complain about. Sure, the framerate dips in the wild area and at times the game is just way too easy, but those are really minor issues in my books. I just love the gameplay loop of catching, grinding and battling too much to care about Dexit or whatever.

64. God of War III: Remastered, 8/10
I finally finished the original trilogy after all these years. I always thought 1 & 2 were pretty overrated and I feel pretty much the same about this one as well. It's just not clicking for me. I like the combat, but pretty much everything else feels just meh. Story, themes, level design are all so damn uninspiring. I'm really glad they decided to reboot this franchise.

65. Mega Man X, 9/10
Man, this game was on my to-do list for over 10 years, fucking finally beat it. Never played it back in the day, but always heard good things about it. People were right, this game is definitely an all time classic. Dashing and shooting feel soooooo gooood. The music and bosses were also just amazing. My only gripe with this game is Sigma's fortress, because there are some SUPER annoying parts in there. The climbing section after the purple guy boss almost gave me rectal cancer, same thing with Sigma's final phase.

I was a lil confused, I thought I was reading a review I didn't remember writing 😂. Really well written tho! Already better than the ones I've written!
