Banned users will have their recurring subscription automatically cancelled. Users with more than 31 days remaining on their subscription will receive a pro-rated refund upon request.

2) I turned down 7 and 8 figure offers purely to keep neogaf independent because of its importance as a neutral, pro-indie voice in the online video game scene and because of the responsibility I accepted when the community entrusted me with running it in 2004, despite the absolute impossibility of ever achieving an alternate route to that financial outcome or anywhere remotely near it. I was smeared and defamed by the press and this place was bombarded with over a thousand account suicides and porn bombs last year, along with DDoS attacks, attempting to kill it, and I was encouraged to kill myself by community members I held dear.

I'm still here. NeoGAF is still independent. The mods abusing power have all been identified, removed, and their methods closed off from future abuse potential. Over a thousand bans from 2016-2017 have been personally reviewed and adjudicated one by one, with every overturned permed account holder individually and personally emailed by me. We've proudly installed a public, transparent ban record and the entire mod team has been hand picked and personally mentored by me on a daily basis, with additional accountability, logging, and cross-vetting standards in place.

Still concerned about $5 bribes, Yoshi?

And that is why I decided to subscribe to the membership, not because of the fancy username, but because I felt like supporting this community and I want to see it strive. Gaming is my hobby, and considering that checking out what's new on this forum has become part of my routine, I'm happy to chip in with a few quid. Especially if I can browse this place ad-free.

I think you've been very unfairly treated and you're still receiving a lot of sh*t from the militant sycophants, yet here you are, still trucking, still keeping this place alive and kicking. I don't think that anybody who signed up for gold membership wants to be treated differently, or receive special privileges. And those who don't, I'll certainly not view any differently as they keep contributing by making quality posts that I enjoy reading.

I think it's safe to say that we all* consider our monetary support a sign of appreciation for all the heart you and your team are pouring into this place. As it is right now, NeoGAF is the place the gaming community needs and I'm looking forward to see it becoming even better in the future.
