Don't worry, I'll vouch for them.
Just got home from a special premiere, movie is fun as fuck. Really enjoyed it. Trailer was pretty misleading at some parts actually! Which was good of course. Action was amazing and fast, and lots of comedy.

At the theater a guy told us no pictures/videos and then showed a security team with infrared cams to see if you were trying to leak stuff. Pretty cool to see.

Hah, that stuff always freaks me out, I got to see Iron Man 3 2 weeks early some years back and they pointed out the infa reds and took my phone away in a zip-locked bag.

Glad you enjoyed also, can't wait until next week!

I know :p

Plus I am dumb and it isn't even releasing next weekend for us US folks...so they ARE keeping away from all that you said.

Well atleast you have moviepass in the US and good movies that actually comes to theatres . So you can deal with a weeks later release date on this and 2 days later on The Last Jedi.

Good movies like Wind River that i wanted to see never saw a theatre date here nor did movies like Hell or High Water. Instead we get golden movies like Geostorm.

God, Hell or High Water was so good.

Sounds cool!

Did you stay for the stingers?

Listened to the score. When I heard Doyle's Thor theme I almost lost it, an actual returning Marvel character theme. The rest of the scores pretty good as well, and the synth work is actually very enjoyable as a listen on its own, even if there are sections that are obvious filler. Definitely one of the more solid Marvel scores.

He’s obviously referencing how the last Thor movie became a horrendous GAF meme.

I Thor 2 The Dark World don't Thor 2 The Dark World have Thor 2 The Dark World any Thor 2 The Dark World idea Thor 2 The Dark World what Thor 2 The Dark World you're Thor 2 The Dark World referring Thor 2 The Dark World to

Is that the score in the above trailers? If so.. finally, a non generic sounding MCU score.

The soundtrack is up on Apple Music now and
it's much less synth heavy overall than I wanted it to be but it is catchier and less wallpapery than other Marvel soundtracks. And the synths are there and in front at times. Some actually memorable bits for a change.

spoilered the above for no plot reasons. Only music is discussed and vaguely at that, no song titles.

It will if, like Thor 2, DCEU-GAF uses it as exhibit A to so why Marvel movies are shit and Justice League is so much better despite it getting shat on by everyone else.

You think only dc gaf thinks thor 2 is dogshit? You're being a tad too reductive. That movie sucks, no conspiracy against marvel necessary

thor 2 wasnt that bad. it was mediocre but certainly not suicide squad or bvs... i would actually rate it at the same level as wonderwoman. a oretty nonsensical story, characters that take themselves too seriously but saved by astonishing visuals.

Thor 2 was forgettable, IM2, SS and BvS are insulting.

Yea I wanted to check the time on my phone but didn't because of that lol.

Sounds cool!

I did, I saw 2.

If anybody is really curious: HEAVY AFTER CREDITS SPOILERS - first one spoils the movie a bit too.

First one is Thor and Loki on a spaceship with all ASSgaardians talking about how nothing will go wrong going back to earth, then a giant spaceship comes out of nowhere.

Second one was the grandmaster crash landing somewhere and all the slaves/rebels/fighters are there, he makes some jokes before they presumably kill him.

Went to the IMAX premiere in the Netherlands yesterday. My thoughts in short:
Got the chance to see the film at the Dutch premiere (courtesy of Pathe theaters.)

Forget everything you know about the Thor franchise, aside from the sheer basics. Ragnarok captures the spirits of its characters, but exchanges the half-worked-out Shakespearian drama for an intergalactic adventure that doesn't mimic films like Guardians of the Galaxy, but creates its own identity that stands well on its own within the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the superhero genre by itself. It's funny and there are tons of great jokes, but I never found its emotional core to be undermined by any of the humor (it's actually quite funny how far Marvel has let Waititi go with some of his humor.)

Ragnarok's plot isn't exactly complicated, but it makes up for that in character development and payoff. In this, the film doesn't feel like a sequel to Thor and The Dark World, but it does develop and finish character arcs that were not only essential to the trilogy but for the MCU to develop its characters and universe further.

Thor and Hulk shine brightest in this ensemble, as both characters enter a new era in their storylines, changing up dynamics heavily as their motivations, strengths, and weaknesses are more properly defined and given a sturdy foundation for their future within the universe, accompanied by a strong supporting cast, particularly Thompson's Valkyrie and Loki, who pretty much sees character development for the first time in since the first Thor.

What Waititi as ultimately done to fix the franchise is one simple thing: make it fun. From the opening sequence to the final showdown against Blanchett's Hela (who shines brightly, though Surtur is underused), Ragnarok is a fun and extremely funny ride to the end. Add in a little Goldblum here and there and you're in for a good time, if not one of the best in the MCU so far.

There is one thing, and it's not exactly a spoiler but if you really want to go in knowing nothing, don't read further:

The first post-credits scene is essential to the story development going further, though the second is purely comedy-oriented.

Some reviews mention it has many jokes and they are funny, so the jokes are actually funny jokes or are they the Marvel-kind jokes?

For people who've watched it, does it matter if you didn't watch 1 and 2, with only Avengers as background story for Loki?

I hope they include both Team Thor shorts in the blu-ray :(

The only thing you need to know about Loki past Avengers is that (Thor: The Dark World Spoilers)
he is presumed dead by Thor but has somehow usurped Odin's throne.

That's all you need to know.

The humor is a 100% Waititi. I was actually surprised to see how far Marvel let him go with some of the jokes.

Only thing you need to know is the spoiler-tagged bit Glass Rebel posted above. Rest of it speaks for itself.

Ok, thanks. I watched 1 and 2, but was going to watch it with someone who hasn't. I was hoping they'd add a short recap at the beginning, but oh well!

Kind of in the middle. There are some jokes that are actually kinda far for Disney/Marvel standards seeing as kids also see this movie. I thought it was really funny but I'm easily entertained so I can't be a fair judge.

I mean, after GotG's Pollock joke and Tony Stark telling that little kid to not be a pussy about his dad leaving, I don't think Marvel/Disney has much of a ceiling on jokes.

Major testament to the Marvel brand that I could flat out hate Guardians 2 and be disappointed by Homecoming and still be hyped for this. Granted, I did place my bets that this would be the best of the three, I just figured I'd like the other two more when the year started. Thursday night in Dolby Cinema, let's go.
