'Justice League' reshoots extensive; Up: Cavill comments on 'stache

Whedon adding a bit of narrative heft to a Snyder-directed movie sounds pretty good actually. That's like the best of both worlds.

Of course, the worry is that the whole thing just isn't going to gel well. We'll have to wait and see. There has been very little actual plot in any of these trailers, long as they are.

It is hard for me to see this film as anything but a mess.

Doing an ensemble before they did individual films is a such a dumb idea. They want the Marvel money. They dont want to put in the Marvel time.

I have no idea who discount IronMan is. Ditto for Aquaman. I know VERY little about Flash. I have no clue who that bad guy is supposed to be.

And that is coming from a guy who has seen almost every comic book film released so far. God know what someone who isnt into DC comics will think.

How about laying some groundwork before you do this?

Read the source material or watch the movie when it's out. Those are your options.

Well they pretended like Snyder had no hand in WW so...

If that's the price to pay for DCEU to get some peace, I guess Snyder is the hero we needed but didn't deserve.

As for the reshoots, they're meant to make the movie better, after they received some reviews from their screenings, so they're putting their money into the project and try to improve its shortcomings.

I also don't think they have much action sequences planned for those reshoots, sounds more like character scenes and "flow" than set piece. So the CG should be fine, outside of this mustache disaster.

Hopefully this time around they had the right people giving them the good feedback. Because whoever was fine with BvS needs to be fired forever.

Again. All I'm reading is that Whedon wants some more dialogue and some scenes for connective tissue. Doesn't sound like they are shooting whole set piece action scenes.

It's going to be extensive in the fact that it's time consuming and that some of the actors are clearly about to be busy with other projects and the logistics are a bit fuzzy.

You're making too much sense for GAF

I can't keep up, why was Whedon brought on in the first place? Had Synder not finishing shooting the film when his family tragedy struck?

Every film has reshoots. Snyder originally brought Whedon on just to help with some dialogue and such, but planned to direct it himself. Then the tragedy struck and he needed time off, so Whedon stepped in, and it seems like he's adding a few more reshoots to the original plan.

I'm not convinced this is true.

I remember Wonder Woman reshoot rumors and stories a plenty. At this point I only give these headlines credence if it's from the studio or cast's mouth.

IIRC, the Wonder Woman is In Trouble rumors sourced back to a Collider co-host, right?

This is Variety.

There's reshoots a-happenin.

I don't think the individual films argument holds much weight. Guardians of the Galaxy introduced a whole team in one movie. And no one complained. Because it was well made from a narrative and technical standpoint.

The Incredibles introduced you to a family of superpowered heroes in one movie, and was great. Fantastic Four did the same and was not.

It's all about the script and execution.

I mean, the reshoots are straight from the horses mouth, nobody should be denying that. Cyborg said himself at the Comic Con panel that they are currently doing reshoots but are almost done and isn't really THAT extensive.

Sounds like the issue is that it is an ensemble cast and it's hard to get everyone at the same place at the same time.

Principal photography had finished. JL was/is in post-production but some amount of reshoots were in the schedule. Whedon's primary role is to supervise the post production process (editing, scoring, sound, etc). Reshoots are a part of that.

The reshoots could very well have been just as extensive even with Snyder still involved.

I guess I'm just exhausted by these types of stories considering how frequently they're either made up or blown out of proportion. The internet seems to feed on this stuff.

There were rumors of Snyder being fired and such up until the day official news broke of why he and Deborah were stepping down.

Also it feels like people are determined to not let Snyder have any success. If the movie is good or whatever, it'll all be Whedon

For the action, Snyder will be praised, as usual. For any humor (if it works), Whedon I guess.

I don't see Whedon getting all the credit if this movie turns out to be a good one. But I think he's definitely molding the movie more to his liking. Firing JunkieXL and replacing him with Danny Elfman is really telling.

I think Whedon was going to help Snyder with reshoots regardless. With things like dialogue etc. Then Snyder left due to personal reasons and Whedon told him he'd finish everything up.

Any reason why people shouldn't?

Because of how Snyder's first two DCEU films turned out and because Justice League began production before they had any idea BvS wouldn't be the rapturously received, billion-dollar megahit WB had clearly expected.

It might well literally be true that JL was always intended to have a "lighter tone" than BvS and MoS, but those films set such a low bar that that doesn't mean much.

Snyder is responsible for the look of the film and that's really where he is most valuable. Those sure as hell aren't Joss Whedon visuals in the trailers.

Additional details from a THR writer,

They are "substantial," according to sources. Up to 4 weeks for some actors.

Jason Momoa, who had to be flown in from Australia, and Gal Gadot did about 2 weeks worth, others had quite a bit more.

Ben Affleck is still shooting some JUSTICE LEAGUE scenes this week, according to sources.

Did you read the story? All its saying is reshoots are happening (like with all films) but it's awkward because of scheduling.

Let Superman have the 'stache

I don't even know what mode to use so I stick with normal.

Theater tends to increase contrast, reduce brightness, and make the general color tone closer to neutral, with warmer skin tones.

Cool tints everything closer to blue, which sometimes causes an increase in percieved contrast. Brightness goes up too, usually.

Un Rama
Evil Superman with a mustache is basically Omni-man so it kinda fits.

It'll be a miracle if this film turns out anything other than a mess. But it'll be an Interesting one that's for sure.

StoOgE

First tragedy, then farce.
I swear to god, every fucking movie has this exact story come out because it is totally fucking unprovable because we know reshoots are happening.

But, we also know that Mamoa and others have been done with reshoots for weeks. So, this also feels like it doesn't fully jive.
