Well im glad my hopes for my favorite Spidey villain Venom got shattered early. As long as they still have lots of other cool villains in the game i'm okay with it.
Edit: How freakin awesome would it be if the after credit scene teases the symbiote for the sequel? Oh man...
We've had countless Spiderman games with symbiotes. It's about time the focus went to other villains and Mr. Negative is a step in the right direction. Would be better if the after credits scene focuses on anyone but symbiotes/green goblin.

It's funny, I've been thinking how cool it would be to see a Spidey film or game of this caliber in a winter/snow setting. I haven't consumed enough of the comics or cartoons to know if they've ever depicted him in the snow but seeing it with realistic visuals should be quite the spectacle.

That goes for other weather and times of day besides perfect sunsets and full moon nights too haha.

Anyone remember Midnight Justice? Some YA novel I had as a kid, this was the cover lol. Lots of snow. I'd be down to play something like that.

They have. Many times. Works really well visually.

Like I said, I'd love to see that on the big screen or in a game like this. Thanks for the images. It's cool to see it exists in some form.

Maybe because these films are built to be summer blockbusters and rarely see winter/holiday releases?

I remember Spectacular Spidey had a really cool winter arc. Spidey fought the Sinister Six in the snow once, if I remember correctly.

If I ever post something in Japanese which I don't understand, please BAN me.
I'm afraid there wasn't enough time to implement a real day & night cycle and dynamic weather system.

Hopefully for the sequel...

No snow on the buildings...

lol

The only scene I remember from the whole book is one where some dude gets mugged in the subway and has his watch stolen, but then the robber is like "Timex? Seriously?" and is about to just fucking shoot him before Venom jumps in and eats the dude's brain.

Venom is weird

How does them saying it takes place over multiple days translate to "there is no day/night cycle"? The truth is I would rather not have a day/night cycle myself. And I'm glad to see that weather is confirmed to be in the game, I don't think I have ever seen different weather patterns in an open world Spider-Man game.

Day/night is purely an immersion thing.

Sucks it might not be in the game, but it's not a big deal. Good to see weather changes are confirmed though.

Maybe we'll get day night cycle at the end game in a free roam mode.

I saw Homecoming last night and it was both Amazing and Spectacular, THE best SPIDER-MAN movie ever. Now I'm sad because it makes me want to play this game, ugh the wait will kill me.

Static daytime will ensure max graphical prowess as all the shadowing and whatnot can be baked to the highest degree while freeing up these resources to be used on the more interactive elements (and prevents a thousand game design head-aches in the process so definitely time saving on the developers part).

Man, what a great time it is to be a fan of Spiderman.

Really hoping this game ends up being to Spiderman as the Arkham games were to Batman.

Disappointing that there's no symbiote so no Venom/Carnage.

What is the deal with Marvel/Sony and the hate they seem to have for this? Seriously, in the newer movies/games they seem to REALLY Want to avoid the symbiote and characters associated with it for some strange stupid reason, even though it's a fan favorite and one of the most popular things from Spider-Man.

It's been used to death. Sony are about to make a venom movie as well so there ya go

And all the games I've played featured that suit one way or another

Used to death? I'd like to see in what movies/games that's the case.

I'm not talking about simply having a symbiote suit to change into, but actually making the symbiote part of the storyline/characters, with Venom and/or Carnage making an appearance in the actual story (and being done good).

Last decent game with Eddie Brock/Venom was back on the ps2 IIRC, it's been a while.

We had Maximum Carnage back in the day. Then the third Sam Rami movie which basically pissed all over Eddie Brock/Venom in general and was one of the worst spider-man movies.

Also the new Venom movie? Supposedly it's not even going to have spider-man in it...Like making a Lex Luthor movie and not having Superman in it or a Bane movie with no Batman.

I never liked the Batman games but always loved the Spiderman games (early ones on PS1 and PS2) and this Spiderman looks like it'll be as great and better than the old Spiderman games can't wait

I think its more for reboot reasons.

Spiderman movies & games essentially just got rebooted. They are essentially starting on origin stories so it would be to OP for them to go straight to the symbiote storyline.

And yeah they are making a Venom movie so we're definitely going to see it at some point.

Spider-Man (PS1), Spider-Man 3, Web of Shadows, Ultimate Spider-Man, Maximum Carnage, Separation Anxiety

That's 6 games that are symbiote focused

If it's worth anything, MvCI is supposedly gonna have Venom on Day 1.

That said, not everything has to be about the symbiotes.

Web of Shadows was terrible, Spider man 3 was based on the Topher Grace Venom as a boss, the only decent ones were Maximum Carnage/Seperation Anxiety and those were the genesis/snes days.

Never played ultimate, but that was like 10 years ago and aside from Maximum Carnage/Separation Anxiety I wouldn't say they were really symbiote focused at all.

No, but for a next gen big "spider-man" game many people would like to at least see the symbiote/Venom/Carnage make an appearance since they haven't had one in many many years.

Just like an X-men game many people would like to have Magneto in it, or Gambit.

It is nice to hear about Marvel vs Capcom though.

Hopefully if this game does well and is good (which so far it's looking amazing) we'll get to see the symbiote in the next on and hopefully they do Eddie Brocks story justice and have him be playable later in the game as an anti hero and not a straight up villain.

I'm all for them using different villains this time around. It's too early to play with the symbiotes IMHO.

I mean almost every game in the last few years had them in some form?
Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man 3, Web of Shadows, the 2 level based brawlers from Beenox, Amazing Spider-Man 2 and I'm sure I am missing a few games.

Just let it go, introduce Venom/Carnage as the big bad in one of the sequels. Give me villains like Mr. Negative, Kingpin... Mysterio... maybe Dr. Octopus? Symbiotes are way overdone and I'm tired of having games that focus on them just cause Venom had a few cool storylines back in the day. I'd prefer more grounded villains this time around.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Symbiote saga has come and gone already, considering he's 23 in-game.

Would be really nice if it was background lore that was referred to but never impacts the plot.

Web of Shadows looks like it has more interesting combat than this one and just saying 'Topher Grace' doesn't negate Spider-Man 3 being yet another game about Symbiotes.

Give Venom a rest, he's nowhere near Magneto at all.
