All other streaming services have been around much longer and we don't even know if this is the only two originals. It doesn't launch until next year.

DC Digital Service To Launch With Titans Series and Young Justice Season 3

hmmm... I am quite interested in both shows.... that being said I don't want to long term sub to a service with barely anything I want on it... so obviously the choice I will make is wait for all of season three of young justice and the full first season of titans to be out, sub for the shortest period possible (likely a month) and then binge watch both and cancel until most stuff I want comes out.
there has to be more to this though. they aren't going to launch a streaming platform on two shows.
I wonder if they are going to end up pulling their CW comic shows from netflix in order to put them on this.
same with gotham and any others.

Guys. It's a DC digital TV service. For DC content. Just DC content.
It's not a question of needing time to catch up. They will never have enough content to catch up to the big players. The purchase of the service will never be justified to most people unless they practically give it away for free.

True they're not having enough content to match netflix or hulu but there is indeed a lot of DC related content out there that could fill up a service like this. Old content, current content, and upcoming content.

Then you also have movies which can include films people don't even realized are based on DC properties because they're not based in the world of Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman but come from their other imprints.

I just realized something. They're going to obviously need new and original content seperate from what is airing on TV. If they continue in the direction of the CW Seed animated series I wonder if this is the prefect opportunity to do stuff based on the Wildstorm titles. If popular enough we get something longer then those shorts. Maybe this is how we finally get a FABLES adaption of some kind.

I really don't think Netflix would have a problem funding shows that have a built in audience, as any DC show would even just from hate watchers

I actually did a survey on this a month ago. As the Deadline article alludes to, it won't just be a streaming video platform. It's meant to be an all-encompassing DC fanboy service. They asked if we were interested in things like DC movies, digital comics, game DLC. and even loot crates as a part of the service.
One of the things they asked was whether we'd be interested in it being its own platform or an add-on to an existing platform. I always picked the latter, but it looks like they chose to do their own thing. They also asked about multiple configurations offering different things at different price points, including monthly and yearly options. I don't really remember what the specific prices were, but I do remember thinking, "No way I'm paying that much for just DC."

Here's the thing: what you and I think doesn't matter. We don't know whether or not Netflix wanted Young Justice, what we do know is that they don't have it, so putting blame on DC is pretty pointless.
We've known about this for a while and I'm not sure what Deadline was talking about regarding Young Justice S3 going to Netflix, AFAIK it was brought back specifically to 'anchor' this new service, which has been planned for a while.
The only surprise is The Teen Titans show appearing on it. I'd been hearing for ages that WB were actively developing a Teen Titans (called just 'The Titans' apparently) film for a while and were chasing a big name director to helm it. Now, there could be a couple of possibilities.
A) This was before Nightwing was announced so it's possible that everyone got their 'wires crossed' and this is what the rumours of a Titans film were.
B) WB are no longer planning a Titans film at this time as they are moving some parts of the DCU around (hence the Black Adam announcement) and everything is in flux.
C) They are still developing a Titans film and, just as they are with The Flash, they intend to run the pair beside each other reinforcing the 'multiverse', splintered brand, idea.
But in saying that if Warners really want to make a go of this they really need to push the boat out for this Titans show and by that I mean production values close to what we see on big 'AAA' shows on pay cable and Netflix etc.
If WB/DC are jut going to slap a Titans series with CW level production values they might as well quit now. This needs to be their signature series and make a big noise right out of the gate a bit like CBS are intending to do with that new Star Trek show.

I'm not blaming anyone, I just find it much more likely WB decided they wanted their own content to bolster their own channel than that they went to Netflix asking for cash and Netflix turned them down because they spent their budget on Adam Sandler

I mean fans have been pushing Netflix for a renewal for 3 years now and they never really showed any interest.
Same with folks complaining this isn't on Cartoon Network elsewhere....

I'm just amazed about how fans were willing to crowdfund and then when it comes time to cough up money for content they're confused and hurt. I'm more than happy to pay for quality DC content.

I watch all the CW DC shows, including the excellent iZombie, buy every DC Animated film, purchase DC comics weekly. And I have zero interest in this. Unless the pricing is like...$2-$3, I don't know how interested I would be. It's not even a matter of cost, it's time. I have Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime Video, Starz, and HBO Now. You could offer another sub service for like $1 and I'd probably pass because I don't have the time to watch the stuff I want now.
You'd have to offer something remarkably different in tone to get me interested. Another Berlanti show isn't enticing to me when I can watch Supergirl, The Flash, Arrow, Legends of Tomorrow, and Black Lightning for free. Even putting Young Justice as a carrot isn't really swaying me because...I don't know, guess I'll just save my time and buy the Blu-ray

Oof. I don't expect either show to have an adequate budget.
That's genuinely the most exciting part of this for me. We can get non-comedic DC animated tv that also won't be as censored. Teen Titans season 6, Timmverse resurrection, squashed tv concepts are all real possibilities now.

I'd say any piece of DC content getting a revival is a possibility if this service takes off. Anything that will gauge the interest of casuals and get subscribers is going to be possible and I'd definitely expect DC to hit that "Teen Titans Go is horrible, what happened to my childhood" crowd
I think it's high time that we realize that Netflix isn't going to have everything you ever want to be on it and isn't a service that is ever going to hold all content ever created.

It definitely sucks, but at least none of these services lock you in for a specific amount of time, though. For stuff like this, I tend to wait until there's a decent backlog of stuff I want to watch built-up, then I buy just a single month and binge, then I let it lapse. No big deal.

I used to subscribe to Hulu and Crunchyroll, as well. Now WB wants me to subscribe to their new thing for Young Justice, and the new Star Trek show is on whatever the CBS bullshit is.
I do not like the move away from generalized "come here for a bunch of stuff" streaming services to "oh we're making our own subscription service for our specific shows."
I guess that's where we differ, then. I've basically been out of comics since the New 52 happened.
So you subscribe to two, and subscribing to a third is a "million services" as you said? You don't even pay Amazon monthly. I mean you're of course able to subscribe to what you want to, but this kind of just shows me a lot of entitlement that I've been suspecting. It really isn't that much money.
