[Nintendo Switch] List of Japanese Titles that Support Multiple Languages

Sorry if this has been asked before, but is it confirmed that foreign credit cards are blocked on the eShop? I just tried using my European credit card on the Japanese eShop but it keeps telling me to recheck the info I entered. Haven't tried it on the US eShop yet but before I make an account there, I was wondering if anyone already knows the answer :p.

Since wallets can be shared between 3DS and Switch, and the 3DS accepts foreign credit cards, I guess you could use that as a loophole by topping up on the 3DS and then spending that money on the Switch eShop. Haven't tried this yet though.

Really interested in a thread that lists all physical releases in certain markets as well.
Perhaps this one can combine these two?
Especially since certain games tend to get physical releases in Asia nowadays that support English as well.

Just ordered I Am Setsuna myself from Sin-nin-game.
So glad to finally see an English physical copy.
Been holding off from getting it on PS4/Vita for this very reason.

I've just used my non-JP card to buy Blaster Master Zero with no issues.

I have also updated the thread to include information about the game availability in the digital and/or physical format(s).

People should stop referencing data that makes me feel uncomfortable because games get ported to platforms I don't like
OP are you going to regularly updated this list? Or are you going to reverse the list (You only list games that DON'T get English support) once the list gets too big? because this is a great option for importers.

Yep, happened with me too when I tried to buy 3DS Blaster Master Zero from the Japanese Nintendo website. The page asked me to log into my Nintendo Account and then add my Norwegian card which didn't work. Buying directly from the website used to work perfectly fine when I logged in with NNID pre-Switch launch. I could still buy through the 3DS (and Wii U) eShop though.

I am going to guess it has something to do with Nintendo Account and cards from certain specific countries. Though it doesn't make much sense to me since I tried to add random stuffs in My Nintendo Store (logging in with Nintendo Account), entered my card info and it went through. Note that I didn't proceed the order, so maybe the page will complain if I do that.

Ugh :(. Well at least I can work around it by using my Japanese 3DS to add funds to my account, but it's pretty inconvenient (especially for those who don't have a Japanese 3DS or Wii U ofc.)

I ordered the Switch and the Zelda CE from the My Nintendo Store without issues with the same card, so I was hoping the Switch would accept it as well. I haven't tried buying from the eShop through the website yet, so I guess I'll try that now. Not getting my hopes up though :(

edit: Nope, gives me the same 入力内容を確認ください or whatever error >_<

Picked up Blaster Master Zero, Vroom in the Night Sky and Metal Slug 3. Bless region free eShop functionality with a separate user on this console.

For people having credit card issues I just bought a 3000 yen eShop point card through Play-Asia, got the code immediately after checking out.

Just letting you know that you can also buy point cards or digital game codes directly from Amazon Japan without the Play-Asia mark-up. All you need to do is to make an account on Amazon Japan, use whichever random Japanese address as your billing address and then go wild.

Do i just log into the japan account on the switch then redeem those directly through the japan e-shop? I'm still not entirely sure how this stuff works but my Switch just arrived and i wanna load up on some neo geo stuff.

I already made 2 e-mails specifically for the UK/Japan store and i am about to create the users.

If you buy Zelda from Japans Eshop and play it in English, I assume voices are in English too? Or does it actually use the Japanese voices?

Yes, buy a Japanese point card/game code. Log into the Japanese eShop, redeem the code and voila.

A lot of people are talking it in this thread as well: http://m.neogaf.com/showthread.php?t=1349158&page=1

It depends on what language you have set to the Switch system language. English system language -> English text/voices. Japanese system language -> Japanese text/voices.

I wonder if the Japanese version of not-yet-localized games like Puyo Puyo Tetris will be patched to add the localization when it releases elsewhere.

That's never been the case with other consoles but it seems the Switch may work on a scheme where there is only one universal version of a given game??? That would be awesome if true.

That's annoying. I wonder why it doesn't have the English localization that was made for the PS4 recently.

Probably 2 reasons: 1) They can't fit it on to the cart as they're already using up all 32GB 2) The Western version of 2 isn't out yet.

Probably a combination of space limitations and not wanting to step on the toes of the official release of DQH2 overseas. DQH1+2 probably isn't coming out here until it's given the PS4 version a wide berth, and making it import friendly eats into the market that would actually buy the game.

If I charge my JP wallet through 3DS, does the Switch eShop ask automatically if I want to combine wallets? I'm scared it only asks once the first time you use the eShop on Switch, which I already did.

I just wrote a simple guide and put it in another thread. I guess I'll post it here in this thread too.

How to access different Nintendo Switch eshop regions

Step 1
Go to http://accounts.nintendo.com and create a brand new Nintendo account.

The country you select here when creating a Nintendo account will determine the region of the eshop that account can access.

*You need to use a different email address for every different Nintendo account you create.*

Step 2
Create a new user on your Nintendo Switch.

Now link that newly created user to the Nintendo account you just created.

You can now change eshop regions just by selecting a different user account on your Switch.

How to add money to your Nintendo eShop wallet

You can try your own credit/debit cards, even if they are from a different region.
A few people have reported successfully using their credit/debit cards out of region.

Although It seems most people haven't had success using their own cards.
So if your credit/debit cards don't work out of region try:

Amazon.co.jp offers instant yen codes with no marked up prices.
https://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/B0116SR6MY/
*Must have a valid
or random
Japanese address on your Amazon.co.jp account to order.

Amazon.co.jp also offers codes for some Nintendo Switch games.

Japanese yen cards and codes can only be redeemed on the Japanese eshop.

Amazon.com offers instant USD codes with no marked up prices
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M0YDV8M/?tag=neogaf0e-20
*Must have a valid
or random
US address on your Amazoon.com account to order.

Amazon.com also offers codes for some Nintendo Switch games.

US $ cards and codes can only be redeemed on the US Nintendo eshop.

Can GAF recommend me a source for instant euro € or pound £ codes to list here? Also preferably with non-marked up prices if possible.

I tried looking at Amazon.co.uk Amazon.fr and Amazon.de and couldn't quickly find any. Maybe I missed them.

Also, you can change the Amazon.co.jp interface into English this way

The games that have demos have a second button beneath the buy button, click it to download the demo. Not a great implementation but it works.

You should check the currency conversion on your card of choice to see what's cheapest. European store only has a couple of NeoGeo games.

It is a tough decision to wait. I so want to pull the trigger but the ninth is not too far away.

This might be a pointless question but if you buy a digital game on a second account is that game only playable under that user? With a physical game the Switch asks you which user is about to play, wondering if digital is the same way.

No. I have 3 accounts. Bought a few games on 2nd and 3rd and account and was able to play all of it on my main account.

I'm pretty sure only demos don't ask for user, because they run in "no user" mode. Which makes sense because they don't create save data.

Guessing Disgaea is just English text? No dub?

Looks like the Japanese version has English voices and text:

Disgaea is in English. I bought in the Jpn EShop and playing with english voices and english text.

The English version only has Japanese voices, not Japanese text. But you get French text however:

gematsu said:
Disgaea 5 Complete will launch for Switch on May 23 in North America and May 26 in Europe, NIS America announced at its 2017 press event.

The game will feature English and Japanese audio, and English and French text.

Hmm, so I suppose the Western release will have the voices and subtitles selectable in-game?

Yes. I assume it would be the same.

For the Jpn release, because my Switch system is set to English text, the game is displayed in English text. However, in the settings, you can choose English or Japanese voices.

It does not matter if I choose to play the game using my NA user account or JPN user account, the text is in English because the system is set to English.

In the I Am Setsuna thread, but I thought this might be useful info to add here as well.

Ordered from Japan on Friday, arrived in the UK today. Booted game on my UK account, immediately set to English - didn't have to do a thing.
