COMICS!!! |OT| February 2017 All You Need is Love (and Rockets)

Read Old Guard #1. Eeesh, pretty dull. This is what Rucka is doing instead of Lazarus? Shame.

Yes...but! People were pretty down on Lazarus during its first arc too. I'm hoping he can turn it around...though, I am worried that there isn't much interesting about the setting or concept, which both seemed solid in Lazarus despite negative early impressions. We shall see. I'm not ready to ditch it just yet.

And yeah I agree with Messi...I really doubt the current delay on Lazarus is a writing problem.

What do you feel like you're missing. The main gist is the Gentry are invading the multiverse and the various Earth's are finding out via comic books. I didn't think Multiversity was that hard to follow. Like most of Morrison's stuff there's layers to it if you want to dig, but I thought the one shots did a nice job standing on their own.
I don't think most of Morrison's stuff is hard to follow outside of like, the abstract things like the Rebis issue in Doom Patrol and the end of Nameless. Multiversity was pretty straightforward outside of Pax IMO.

I don't really think any of his stuff is hard to follow, but I gave up on that fight a long time ago.

Not unless you have a spare $500 you ain't buying it.

Finished RE7! on Easy...i don't even know how i feel but a general sense of disappointment. The back third of the game was a bit of a disaster? And the other two thirds...
No, you don't get to start unraveling the story like that after half the game is over, you had your shot. You had me go from guest house to main house to old house to boat house, you had your house chances, but nooooo now you're on a ship where we try to run through what Eveline is and Mia was doing, then you get to go to the boringest mine since Tomb Raider Rise of the Raiding. What a mess of a game, i mean, what a mess of a jump scare. Your game is one giant person yelling in my face after i open a door. AHHHHHHHHBLAHBAH THERE YOU ARE is not a game.

That said i kinda started liking it for a bit? I also really regret
picking Zoe instead of Mia :/ I barely knew Mia and Zoe was the one who made the cure and had half of it to begin with. I dunno, regrets. I need to watch some youtube clips to see how it changed the game

I read the plot awhile back to entertain myself. Not sure if I was entertained but I do remember that regardless of which you went with, the plot pretty much wrinkles itself back out after not too long.

Anyone got Horizon yet? Not out here til Wed but mine got dispatched today, hoping for it tomorrow.

You just had to
betray your one true waifu.

SHAME.

I am jazzed for Horizon but I have so many games to play right now, I will probably hold off

Unless everyone goes completely apeshit for it

haha, seems like a pretty big deal man! At least sounds like the best thing Guerrilla have put out (this will mean wildly different things to different folks though I guess). What are you chipping away at?

Doom, XCOM 2, Stardew Valley, GTA V, Wolf Among Us...

To say nothing of my backlog. There have been a lot of good sales lately! I could be set for the rest of the year, honestly

I wasn't feeling Old Guard to the point of cancelling the third issue from my order. I also cancelled the JLA issue for April. The Rebirth and 1st issue was just ok and that sux. I did add Aliens: Dead Orbit because the cover and preview looked cool.

All because she helped you?
lol

more RE7 talk of course:

By the time the choice happened i had forgotten i was even married to Mia, i thought she was my girlfriend that i hadn't seen in three years that got me into this mess. Then, after the decision, we find out that Mia was involved in this whole thing a bit to begin with and was partly responsible for Eveline destroying the Bakers, even more reason to save Zoe. Except you didn't really save Zoe and that path was lackluster. I bet Zoe would marry me.

Mia tried to warn the Bakers about Eveline but it was too late. Zoe looked like the type to ditch and run.

There's video game talk going on in here? Blasphemous.

I mean, I beat Flamelurker and you don't see me bragging about it in a COMICS! OT.

What's that? Demon's Souls isn't relevant any more? Oh.

Well then, carry on.

Only thing I read by him (aside from a couple of issues of Multiversity) is New X-Men, which I didn'y find difficult to follow, but it did get super weird at points. Particularly the ending.

Imo Orlando is getting a bit overrated because of Midnighter.

Hmmmmmm, you know what, I'll try that podcast. You push it, you're obviously proud of it, and it has a topic I want to listen to.
Where's the Marvel or IDW podcast? :p
I'd listen to at least one of those, but no more than two.
Imo Orlando is getting a bit overrated because of Midnighter.

Overrated would be saying he's top 10 right now or something which I haven't heard. He's getting due for writing some great and well recieved comics.

Overrated would be saying nothing because it means nothing.

That's not how it works and I agree that he deserves it, which is why I mentioned Midnighter.
Is Greg Rucka's Wonder Woman any good?
I usually have faith in most things that man does.
Wonder Woman is one series where the opinions I see on the books vary greatly. If you like Rucka you will probably like it so check it out.

Yeah I've always found that to be a strange complaint in most cases. His Batman & Robin was one of my first modern DC books and I had no issues following it (this is without even reading the books leading up to it). Was really surprised to see people saying otherwise online. I think people get too caught up with details.

I have no idea about all that Monitor stuff for example. I just know that they are kinda like the Watcher but still different.
And I am to stupid to recognize patters like the mirroring of the events in the second issue without beeint pointed at.

I can't decide whether or not to buy Rat Queens this week.

I was kinda leaning towards it but read the solicit and it sounds like it's the third part of a story? I dunno, I immediately stopped caring when I saw that. I'm not going to chase webcomics around the internet or whatever the hell

Edit: Hmmm I guess comixology is just displaying the wrong solicit for whatever reason
Wellll maybe. Helps it's a slow week.
