What system are you buying Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild for?

Me. I don't see the Switch as being a worthwhile purchase for just Zelda. Maybe when it's got a better library, I'll update, but we'll see.

I'm not getting a Switch until it gets a price drop, redesign and a bundled game. So Wii U it is.

This.
Nintendo got a nerve asking 300$ for this thing

I don't know about redesign per se...I don't think it needs one any time soon, it's pretty sleek, as thin as it can be with that fan, and as small as it can be with that screen.

Otherwise I'm with you guys, can't do it, got to stick with BOTW Wii U.

I also really like the idea of my WiiU having one last classic.

I fear I may become like one of those Dreamcast nerds, but instead for the WiiU.

I am going to. Don't see a reason to buy a switch before odyssey drops. By then , hopefully, the price will drop too.

Me.

I buy every mainstream Zelda game, regardless of platform (havent owned a WiiU for years).

Only series that I do it for. Not gonna change now.

We're in this together. I feel the same, and I still have a few games I intend on picking up for the Wii U, so no reason not to keep my preorder. Actually playing through the zelda series on the wii u before it gets here. Will probably get a switch close to launch day just because of shipment shortage fears, but only getting snipperclips, 1,2 switch and shovel knight for it until Spla2n.

I don't normally do this anymore (buying something I'm not gonna play), but it's pretty much a must for my Zelda collection, it wouldn't be complete otherwise.

I was gonna,b ut im going to see if i can find a switch first. If i cant get one withing the first week or 2, then ill get it on the WIIU. I just dont want to end up buying it on the wiiU, then when ig et a switch get it for that system too. Im not a big fan of double dipping. I rather buy something else then something i already played.

Outside of the obvious responses for people who wont get a Switch and only can play it on WiiU. Anyone here getting it on WiiU despite having a Switch at launch day ? Would be interested to hear why.

Wii U for sure, Switch just doesn't have anything bar Zelda until Mario comes out to make me want to spend that much. Even with Mario I'll probably wait a bit.

Just wondering- has any information on the Wii U version been published since the reveal? Hopefully it's not a botched port now :(

I won't be getting a Switch until games I want are out, and considering the only major difference between the two seems to be 720p vs 900p, I figure I'll just get the Wii U version.

No more info has been released and I doubt we will get any.

I honestly don't think there will be any graphical differences, I just think it will be a higher resolution on the Switch and perhaps a more stable framerate. This is also the only differences that Nintendo themselves keep stating, with Aonuma repeating it in the latest Game Informer interview.

Remember that the only Wii U builds we have seen are much older than the Switch Builds.

I'm going Wii U. Can we really foresee performance issues with that version when it was surely the development lead? Draw distance perhaps, but nothing major surely...

I will. I very much doubt I'll have the funds to go all out to treat myself to a Switch + Zelda, so I'm getting the Wii U one from Amazon for £35. Glad to hear that the main difference between the two versions will be 720p on Wii U instead of 900p on Switch. I can live with that. Plus it will have Miiverse support! Which is usually pretty fun, I think.

Man I got mine on AMazon UK for 39 pounds ...

BTW - just went to Amazon UK to check the price of the Wii U versoin and its unavailable. Did they stop pre orders????

I will. I got a used Wii U a few weeks ago, mainly because of BoTW but also because i havent played any Wii U titles at all or barely any Wii titles. Also the Switch is highly priced and wont have any other titles at launch that interest me. The switch is priced at $416 (including VAT/sales tax) / €390 here in Sweden, so no thanks.

I got Wii U 32 GB, Pro controller, Zelda Windwaker, Super Mario 3D world, Mario Kart 8 and Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze in the package for €250. Maybe too high price? But finding a used Wii U especially with a Pro controller was hard and the guy i bought it off lives in the same city.

Also played and completed Twilight Princess HD to prepare for BoTW, first time i played that game. Was both fun and frustrating, since you barely know where to go without a guide in older Zelda titles. :D

I will, no reason to get a whole new console at launch with only one game that interests me, likely won't even get a Switch until my birthday in June or Christmas.

On launch day I'll have $79AU. I wont have $469AU+$89AU so simple decision for me.
It's still going to look and play great on my TV.

I probably want to play it eventually, and Im not interested in Switch.
I think I need a pro controller first though.

It's going to be an exact repeat of 2006 Twilight Princess/Wii launch for me. First I'll get the "original version" of the game and then a few months after launch I'll get a Switch and get that version of BotW.

I can't justify getting a switch at launch when its biggest title, and pretty much the only system seller in its launch window is releasing on a console I already own. So Wii U for sure. I won't have to buy any peripherals like an sd card or a pro controller either.

I warmed up to the idea of getting a Switch, but no way on launch day.
I will wait up to the day the console has 5 games that interest me.

On the other side Zelda looks like the most amazing game of the last 5 years (to me at least), so I need to play that asap.

Holy shit, they are expensive too :(

Yup I found one at a local gaming shop for 50 EUR a couple of weeks ago. I want to get one more so I need to get that in the next couple of weeks.

In an ideal world I'd get it on a Switch, I love the thought of playing something on the scale of Zelda on a portable!

Being realistic, my gaming time is very limited and I have quite the backlog on the PS4 so can't justify spending that big on a one console and one game. The known line-up and the vast majority of Nintendo exclusives don't really appeal to me outside of Zelda.

I have a friend who has a Wii-U who says I can have that and the game when he's finished with it, so I can see me booking a long weekend to marathon it.

I'm most likely going to cancel my Switch pre-order later this month. I've still got a WiiU lying around, Zelda is the only game that I'm interested in and I'll probably play it on WiiU. I'm still waiting for new previews for the WiiU version to arrive (as the old gamplay videos are all from last year's E3, I think) before I make the final decision.

I´m buying this at 00:00 through the eshop to start playing it right away. I´ll also get a Switch later and probably double dip if the game is even half as good as I expect it to be, just not at launch.

Oh well, I just ordered one for 50 EUR.
Thanks for the tip!

The Wii U Pro Controller doesn't have gyro, I'll be using the GamePad.
I've played Wind Waker and Tropical Freece with the gamepad, and it's by far the most uncomfortable gaming controller I've ever owned.

I'll probably be getting it on Wii U. Right now, I have very little interest in Switch. As a console, it does nothing for me (I prefer playing on a TV, so it's portability factor doesn't appeal to me, and it seems underpowered as a home console), and I find it's game lineup to very lacking right now (as most launch lineups are), aside from maybe Mario. So yeah, BOTW Wii U it is, as long as this version isn't a shit show, at least. It's been a long time since we've seen anything of the Wii U version, and the impressions of it weren't great, performance wise. I'm definitely a bit concerned about it, TBH.

Me! Both so I can have it in my collection and so my girlfriend can play it on the U whilst I play it on the Switch.
