some guy leaked FFXV's story six months ago | up: newer 4chan stuff as of Dec 9th

Thanos acquires the fully powered Infinity Gauntlet in The Avengers: Infinity War, but loses when all the superheroes team up together to stop him.
They're likely not going to lose their power, just their connection to Eos. The whole point of killing the Astrals was to prevent them from giving Noctis their blessing which is essentials for his Ascension. The empire obviously didn't like the idea that some one was getting more power than them. So by killing the Astrals, Luna could no longer converse with them to ask for their power. Gentinia is a special case since she's one of the Astrals that actually like humans and is willing to go out of her way to give Noctis her blessing despite being 'dead'. The other Astrals wouldn't even bother.
That does make sense and seems to fit what we know about them. Thanks for the clarification.

So Versus would have featured...

... children murdering other children because of voices in their heads
... yakuza offering familiars as sacrifices in order to gain powers
... blood spilling enemies
... murdered girls coming back from the death as beautifully designed female characters
... people hurting themselves in order to view ghosts
... an entire nation worshipping the idea of death
... dog puppies that would transform into merciless ninjas

Just let that sink in.

Per - so - na

BREAKING

from Ultimania guide Tabata interview:

very rough translation

Tabata: FF VersusXIII was planed as part of the FNC series sharing the same mytho with FFXIII. Because we were restarting the game development as a numbered title and to make it on the new hardwares, it was necessary to consider changing all the content of the game. One such change was to re-position the heroine, thus to make a new one (Luna). However, the bone of VersusXIII has been kept in XV. As the FNC series, "people chosen by crystal fulfill a fate with their lives" setting is retained in XV.

It reads "it is basically VersusXIII but waaayyy shallower" to me.

seems the idea of
logo change
was from Noctis' Japanese VA lol. Tabata listens feedbacks for sure.

I'm not expecting too much regarding Versus, but anything meaningful regarding XV itself?

there must be. the scans only showed part of the interview.

People care about the world of XV might be interested in the "History of Eos" part.

It is not allowed.

Tabata didn't say anything super meaningful....we might need to wait the inevitable Omega guide (Typically with artworks, secrets, challenge runs and more interviews).

The Omega guide will probably be out after the dlcs and the changes are all done. Unless they want to come up with another volume beyond omega.

Not expecting them to talk much about Versus. They are generally quite quiet when it comes to changes that might make them sound negative. Like how XII's Ultimanias didn't talk about Matsuno's departure.

Ugh.

That reminds me. It's annoying that the Big Bang piece has unrelated/unexplained things on it(since Amano drew it years ago), and it makes it seem so obvious that it was used for marketing than anything else.

I am sure that Big Bang piece might be related to the whole FNC mythos meaning it could cover XIII, Type-0 and XV.

Explains some summons being there that were never supposed to be included in XV.

Any hope of the Ultimania getting localized? Weird none of the other ones were.

If nothing, nothing else, they really should have fleshed out the Empire more. You get the gist, but Iedolas is on screen for... what, three minutes? Two?

Yeah...very disappointing. They're almost a non factor in the game really. And for an evil empire the surrounding countryside outside insomnia doesn't seem too bad.

None if any of the others haven't.

You learn more about them in Kingsglaive than you do in the game, and that's saying something. Still have no clue why they wanted to destroy Insomnia apart from Iedolas being a dick.

not sure why they had to drop the FNC connection. Tabata's answer (because it's a mainline title now) doesn't hold at all.

it is not unprecedented to have a common mytho among mainline titles. FF1, 3, 5 share this same "warriors of light" mytho.

DQ series does this too, with DQ1~3 sharing the same world, DQ4~6 the same mytho.

Seems Tabata wants to make a online mode (not co-op). This "online mode" will be after the ending of the game, to let players mess around in the open world. Not confirmed yet, more of a "his ideal situation" kinda deal.

But we already can do that. Unless they mean open world 10 years later....

But what would we do? The daemons should be gone after XV.

Isn't this what the co-op deal is all about? Honestly it sounds fun to me if they can integrate it meaningfully and even my friends were excited about the potential co-op mode.

What if Yoko Taro wears a mask because he and Nomura are the same person?

I actually had another dream last night about Versus, lol. Viewing some in progress footage, there was cool shit like point warping out to the ocean and going up into the atmosphere to fight the Knights of The Round summon, as high as you get when summoning Ramuh, followed by point warping again back to Altissia from a mile out.

Then one of the sequences involved Noctis turning into a Daemon. One of his powers was the ability to become a literal shadow on a flat surface, and after hallucinating that Stella was being held captive by Niflheim soldiers, he uses this to travel along the wall, and then ceiling to try and get to her. He attempts to reach her, but she doesn't actually exist, so he transforms into this beast type thing. It's like this Kazuma Kaneko-style concept design, where Noctis becomes this hideous demon with a gaping maw that extends down part of his torso, with his limbs are restrained to his body. The Stella apparition still looks human, and just as pretty, but her hair and dress are turned completely black, and she now has her hands in demon-Noctis' back, like she(or the memory of her) is controlling him directly like a literal puppet. Basically, he's then forced to attack and kill all of the nearby soldiers before LITERALLY EATING THEM. It was pretty gruesome, because it was in the manner of a snake. Demon/puppet/PTSD Noctis would open up Gaping Dragon style and just swallow the soldier whole, stretching and expanding to do that.

That shit was weird.

I dunno, maybe I'll draw some of this shit out, lol.

BUT NOMURA'S VISION

such a clusterfuck.

I would have loved that, tbh.

The honest answer is probably that the FNC became reealllyyyyy unpopular so they dropped any connection to it, but obviously they can't say that. And going by the leaker, Tabata and BD2 have respect for 13 anyway so they wouldn't throw it under the bus.

Getting annoyed at him for a hollow answer in the ultima is silly, the same shit happened with 12s and Mastuno. There not going to open the lid on anything that talks about how fucked up it all got

This is true about Japanese game development in general. It's as secretive as it gets.

he mentions "co-op" mode first then goes to this "online mode". And it reads like with co-op you and friends can play as all the named main characters (bros, Iris, Cor, Aranea, and maybe Luna). the online mode sounds like where the avatar system would be used. Not sure if he's talking about the same thing lol.

I think besides the 3 regions we've seen, there are more regions towards the north that are under Niflheim's control that we didn't get to visit. I was too hoping to see more of the empire, even just have them being a mere presence around the outposts or towns.

Fuuuuuck!!!

That's the type of crazy shit I want in my JRPGs.

The game in its current state is great, but knowing what it could have been...

Maybe SE will use these retconned narrative themes and concepts in some other spin-off?

Probably to cover up, lmao. Her original vision is designed by a complete sicko. Getting pleasure to hurting herself.... WHAT THE FUCK EVEN.

A BDSM theme would have worked really well with her design, it at least would have been less of a disconnect than her transformation into Shiva aesthetically. I could imagine her dropping her robes to reveal a back scarred with welts, being blindfolded and flagellating herself on a chaise longue to communicate with Stella.

I am, but i don't know what i'm supposed to gain from that.

If FFXV has shown anything, is how important execution is, in good storytelling.
A bullet point list of more or less captivating ideas is near worthless.

You can have the story about a guy going out buying milk, and make it the most enthralling story ever told, meanwhile, a big epic about invasions, nations at war, gods, demons, flying royalty with ghost swords, and all this bollocks, was farted out like air from a loose ballon.
