From what I understand, (and this is a reiteration) he has a history much longer than before *I* started posting on GAF.

Tmely as heck, with all the talk about fake news being passed around unverified.

Imagine if Jason didn't question Verendus "impressions", imagine if no mod attempted to contact him. We would have all read and believed what he wrote assuming that since NeoGAF is a gated community with low tolerance for bs and famous for insiders it could in all likelihood be true. And yet it most likely isn't.

I've seen his impressions being posted to FF subreddits. There are people out there who probably pre-ordered the game because of Verendus. Scary.

I doubt getting banned was part of the plan. You'd be surprised at how desperate some people are for Internet recognition on GAF. Hell, the RE7 Demo thread had more than it's fair share of people like that. Sometimes people step on their own bullshit and slip.

I think more than anything, the post yet again drew attention to himself and his history of doing similar things, which the rest of the moderation team have taken note on multiple occasions, more than it did setting up a scenario where he had to explain himself in this specific instance. But really, as I said this goes much further back than my own history with GAF, so I'm just going to leave it at that and not misrepresent the moderation action.

I personally think he has access to some information and enjoys making up a lot of stuff to mix in with it. Like I said, knowing stuff and being full of shit aren't mutually exclusive, nor does one make the other okay.

He didn't make it obvious. The impressions he wrote are very believable, because they're carefully written to say as little of substance as possible. I even agree with a lot of what he said! Problem is, he made some assumptions about the structure among other things (and the more I reread his posts, the more holes I find).
