Final Fantasy XV Judgment Disc demo out now on JPSN & JP Xbox Store

Okay but it's a FFXV thread. It's like going in that famous xcom2 thread back in the day, claiming you would buy a PS4 rather than a PC.

It's not the same, since I have a PS4, and I'll be playing it on a OG PS4. Just saying that even if the improvements are considerable on a PRO, I'm not upgrading.

Holy shit, this looks fantastic. I was on the fence on getting a Pro just for XV, but this looks great. How is the framerate?

This game is going to be next Unity/Mafia 3 if it doesn't get a day one patch.

Of course it will get a patch, lol.

But name a big open world game without bugs anyway. They were patching Witcher 3 for a year after release, it was still perfectly playable for most people.

Only glitch I've seen in 8 hours was that glowing shopkeeper, it's pretty harmless.

Did you not play Witcher 3 at launch. The game had a huge list of graphical/gameplay bugs that results in glitches that were hilarious or hideous at times.

It is the norm of an open world game. Patches have made QA's job easier.

This is an off-shot demo build where they cut some things and maybe introduced other stuff, which would bring in some bugs not found in the final master build. The devs said that's what happened in some of the showfloor demos too.

If you watch the video where the guy glitched to Duscae the area has a bunch of floating rocks and grass, missing gas station and Titan crater. It obviously isn't meant to represent final code.

Two points I'd counter with -

The accessibility and convenience* of day-1 (and beyond) patches, being automated nowadays, means development schedules can get away with larger scopes, which means protracted dev cycles. I'm willing to bet majority of the games out today would be a little more conservative in scope without that safety net. This leads to protracted development cycles compared to the alternate timeline without patches, which means QA works longer on a given project.

*Not saying that patching is new to this/last gen. Heck, PC games like Diablo 2 and Quake 2 had patch timelines years long. But it wasn't automated, you'd have to be aware of them via news sites (official and otherwise) and manually apply them.

Second point being finding bugs is one thing. Finding the cause, and additional testing (often very, very iterative) to make sure they're actually gone is another.

Are you supposed to use crazy combos in this game? I've been fumbling my way through the demo using warp strikes, regular attacks and magic. Sometimes switching to the greatsword for AoE.

I'm getting this game day one, but I'm a little bit out of loop when it comes to the Pro version. Is the Pro patch coming day one?

This is probably the most active FF15 topic right now to ask.
So, I cannot wait for this game as a long time Final Fantasy fan, but I've stayed away from most of the extra story content until its closer to release.

I'm just wondering, what exactly do I need to buy / stream / youtube to make sure I'm fully versed in it all?

I know theres Kingsglaive, but I think theres more as well.

Brotherhood anime series on youtube.

Brotherhood... that's it

Yes, day 1 will have 4k mode and HDR. There's also going to be another patch in December with a mode targeting 60fps.

If there are so many bugs, why didn't the previews mention them? I feel like the bugs are being exaggerated in this thread. In my playthrough on both Xbox One and PS4, I encountered exactly zero bugs but I didn't spent much time, just an hour on each.

The demo was supposed to provide an hour and half of playtime but some players are stretching that to 8-10 hours :P. The game is bound to break or glitch out at this point.

I'm sure there's bugs (like I said, every open world game does) but the thing is, there's a lot of people playing and everyone posts whatever funny they see in this thread.

So we see a lot of those glitches in one place and it comes up like "man this game is full of buggy shit" when one person likely won't encounter that much of it.

Near the beginning of the video at around 39s the guy manged to recover a nearly empty ST bar into a full one where Noctis phased green briefly. How do you do that?

There's a kind of active-stamina mechanic, if you press a button when Noct is just about to run out of stamina, he regains the full bar without breaking his stride.

I have about 11 hours of play and haven't encountered any of the bugs mentioned here yet.

Duscae looks so lush compared to Episode Duscae. Also, huge!

Remember I told you I'm getting my cousin a PS4Pro if the improvements are goo enough and getting FFXV to play on it and then giving the game to him.

Well it's done, I just bought him the console :3

The only bug I found so far is water reflections on the coastal area glitching (on peasantPS4). Other than that I'm having a pretty smooth experience.

Is there a way to pull the camera back a bit, it seems super close when driving and some combat situations. Kinda hate the camera in general. Also the combat isn't as impact and what not as I assumed from the various videos. Least not for me that is (though I like Bayonetta and Ninja Gaiden so those are hard to live up to.) And the characters have a bit too much movement at times, like its almost unnecessary or kinda unsightly in places, like the sliding characters in the opening to get cover, they just kinda glide over and the camera angles to try and hide it, but its not quick enough and you see them slide lol. Same with attacks like Gladio's big sweep, it looks off.

That said for whatever reason I'm still excited to play this game on release. I went from not interested at all to genuinely counting the days the last 3 months.

Car camera = L1 and R1
Combat camera can be adjusted from the menu.

Since we are talking about bugs here is what I encountered personally:

1- this is a common one if this thread is anything to go by

2- The car is suddenly inside the restaurant

3- Bandersnatch not spawning for me unless I start an entirely new game

4- in the third and last restaurant every NPC there were simultaneously looking up as if they were possessed or controlled by some being lol(it was fixed after one night camping tho)

13.4 GB for half of the first chapter? This game must be massive. It will be on one disc right?
That's not proportional to the overall size.

You're not going to repeat thousands of assets for each area but you still have to load them to play any individual area.

Also fmvs in intro probably

i encountered a shitton of glitches in witcher 3 after several patches. people shouldnt go to hard on FF XV as long as the general gameplay and the general world are okay.

Wow the difference between Pro Enhanced and normal PS4 is huge
Hair looks soft and not a jagged mess
And whole image is cleaner and sharper
Textures are more detailed I even notice one of the symbols on the floor was just a flat blurry texture, switched to Pro and it was actually a metalic gold symbol embossed into the ground with loads of detail.
This I'd why I got the Pro
Standard PS4 version looks like ass compared
Btw there are 3 modes, the first is obviously Pro mode what are the others.
