Animal Crossing Direct Nov. 2, Miitopia featured in JP stream (no mobile/Switch)

Guys, what if Miitopia will be announced for the West on this Direct? I mean, Japan got that notice because it was already announced for that region. What if we'll get the same news but without the warning?

I'm hoping so, but I'm not holding my breath.

The fact that they're tacking it onto this specific Direct makes me wonder if the game is similar to AC in some way (IE - a life sim or something) or even if it has compatibility with AC or the AC amiibo, or if it was just a matter of convenience.

Been waiting for this day more than the Switch reveal.

EDIT: Wow. People thought it was going to be more than news about the New Leaf update. They said there would be more to reveal on top of the Amiibo stuff. The amount of negativity in this thread is enough to make Isabelle cry.

I may have to return to my village soon. But I fear for what will await me. :-S
Hope this direct brings some cool new info, and a tease for a Switch version in development.

I'm not huge on AC and I know that this direct isn't gonna deliver on that front but I can't wait to see the Switch entry if AC Plaza is anything to go by.

So the expansion comes by a hippie bus crashing through town, and new friends joining? Wonder if they are bringing some of that good stuff.

NoE hasn't retweeted this yet. They probably will soon enough, though, as this was already confirmed for Europe in the last Direct.
Not interested in Animal Crossing myself, but love the Directs as a format, so I'll watch after I return from work tomorrow.

If Miitopia is a Japan exclusive for some bizarre reason, it makes me all the more pleased with my JP 3DS purchase this week.

But please don't be, whatever it is.

The Amiibo update for Animal Crossing New Leaf is coming out the first week of December, right? Maybe this Direct will focus on specifics and any crossover content that hasn't been announced in NA/EU yet (Hello Kitty?).

Almost everything gets localized nowadays, but if the hints are of this being a casual Mii RPG, then we won't see it here until Summer 2017.

It's literally a retail game though as well.

Nope, update is most definitely out this week. Japan gets the new amiibo cards this Thursday.

It's the retail version including that update that comes out on December 2nd (in NA, EU and Japan gets it one week earlier). But if you already have the game, there's no need to buy the retail version, unless you're a collector or something.

I'm looking forward to hearing what's new about the update. I've been wanting to play New Leaf again for a while, so this couldn't come at a better time.

As a huge AC fan Wtf is Miitopia

Is that like fruitopia?

Separate game originally announced in September during the Nintendo Direct presentation in Japan.

As to what it is, nobody knows. All we know is that Nintendo is planning to reveal it during the Japanese Animal Crossing Direct, for some reason.

So it's a AC spinoff? Or like a Mii game? So confused.

Since there's Mii in the title, it's most definitely a Mii game. I don't think it's an Animal Crossing spin-off, or it'd say so in the title (which is literally the only thing we know about the game itself).

I think they didn't say anything about it. It's definitely a Mii game and unrelated to AC, but maybe it's going to include AC stuff, or the new update will include more Mii compatability or something like your friend's Miis can move in.

I'm really curious as to how long it is. I'm expecting like 10-15 minutes if it's just about the New Leaf update + Amiibos

That dog is pretty cool, although...That ain't no Brewsters coffee. Perhaps...new shops?

So now Miitopia is the only exciting thing about this direct unless Nintendo has a secret awesome AC 3ds game in the works.

I mean there is an AC expansion that has a direct dedicated to it. It has to be somewhat meaty on content if they have a video presentation for it.

I'm not sure why people expected Switch news or Mobile when they told us exactly what the direct was going to be about last month, and especially after Nintendo said they wouldn't reveal any switch games this year.

I guess we'll find out tomorrow, but do we have a release date for this update? Could it be one of those "IT'S LIVE NOW" type things?

Because that info was so unexciting as to barely warrant a minidirect, and AC mobile was supposed to be out by now.

No mobile news? Man, Nintendo really likes to drip feed the info. A full direct for an update, that's something I guess.

I stick to my opinion that I very much dislike Kimishima's Nintendo way of communicating things.

Amazon UK have the updated retail version of the game for preorder with a 25th November release date. The update should be out on that date, if not before.

So all the content will be locked behind Amiibo or Amiibo cards? Not really interested in that.

I'll maybe buy one card just because.

Is this going to be anything more than "You can now wear a Yoshi hat if you scan the amiibo!"?

Well it has the new campsite area, and furniture from Happy Home Designer, but hopefully it's not just for people with amiibo. That should be a thing, for sure, but not the whole thing.

You can make anyone whom amiibo you scan live into your town! You get to see their personality full on, especially the characters you thought lacked one! Decades' worth of characterization, now just an amiibo tap away!

Hey, it'd be a megaton for me...
