So it's Geist?

They actually turn into the objects. The other example they gave is them turning into a coffee cup.

That is very... different. Basically every enemy is like a DS mimic? So you never know perhaps where and what they are?
Looks alright, but I hope the enemy design goes beyond goopy shadowy creatures.

How do you feel about this level 36 monstrosity? Gamersyde just released this screen:

That's certainly something.

Not what I expected, but it looks good and Bethesda won a lot of favor from me with Wolf: TNO and Doom.

There's hopefully something more to them or at least what's going on with the station; the bit where the spider-thing either uncovers an invisible chair or somehow places one seemed interesting.

It's morphing into a chair. They're able to morph into most anything in the environment.

Uhm where was the actual gameplay?
Saw a reload of a gun and a spider-like thing become a chair. Guess the atmosphere looks good...

Honestly I think it looks totally devoid of its own personality...

4 other games came to my mind when watching this, and it totally distracted me.

Location design is on fucking spot, it's Bioshock's grandiose approach in space.

Not feeling the rest, though. I fear it'll end up too linear and streamlined like the original Prey. Story doesn't seem very unique.

Ehhhhhhhhhhhh....doesn't do anything for me. I don't get any sense of place/environment from that, graphically really very average, very dull, very flat lighting. It has fairly generic looking guns and some pretty uninteresting monsters to shoot at. Story sounds vaguely Dead Spacey.

Maybe it just needs a shit load of polish.

Edit, totally missed Mr Chair the headcrab. Wonder how that will work. Will I end up continuously shooting suspicious looking furniture just in case?

While this doesn't look like a totally run-of-the-mill FPS, can't help but feel the OG Prey "2" was far more interesting, whether much of it ever actually existed or not.

The atmosphere and music were incredible, wow. I hope it's not all jumpscares and favors exploration over combat.

Can't help but feel that the devs did themselves a HUGE disservice by calling this Prey.

I am surprised by the affinity so many people have for the original Prey. Not sure where all the love comes from. I remember it being a technically proficient but ultimately uninspiring shooter. Mechanically it was nice, and it had some fun weapons. But nothing about it really made it stand out for me. The "portal" thing wasn't really that special as they served more as doorways than serious gameplay elements. The story was not engaging after maybe the first couple hours.

There is really no reason to tie this game to that license, so I don't know why they went with the name. But this looks like it has some potential, and I look forward to seeing more content.

Is this Prey? No.

Is this a magnificent rip-off/influenced blend of Bioshock, System Shock, Dead Space, Half-Life, and what Aliens: Colonial Marines was meant to be? Yep.

Do it want it? Badly.

Prey 2 is but a dream...

I like what I saw though. Looks very promising and I'm sure Arkane studios will do a good job.

im down. small open world, interesting powers, creative solutions. hopefully combat is satisying, shooting shadows doesnt fill me with a ton of hope.

I feel like people would be way more interested in this if they opted not to use the Prey license, especially with how cool Prey 2 was looking before it got the axe. This looks super interesting too, mind you, but comparisons between this and Prey 2 are inevitably going to be made, despite the major gameplay and thematic differences.

I know, I know, how different are two shotguns in two games going to look anyway, but damn the fov, the way he holds it, the model... that's pretty damn similar.

Anyway, definitley looking forward to it. Like that it seemingly goes a lot towards psychological horror

Do we know what Avellone is contributing so far writing wise? I'd kill for him to be doing the main villain.

Either way, straight into my veins.

Looks fantastic. Arkane is becoming my favorite developer.

The voice over in the trailer was decent as well, seems like they have the writing on lock. That was my main gripe with Dishonored. Amazing visuals, amazing gameplay, pretty average story and characters.

Can't wait.

Don't know why people keep mentioning System Shock. From what little gameplay we see in this "gameplay" trailer, it looks like a classic FPS in space...

Oh, so this is nothing like the oft-delayed bounty hunter sequel we were supposed to get a few years ago huh? Can't say I'm feeling this. Preferred the original's look and characters to whatever survival horror thing this is trying to be.

I still wanted that original concept of being a bounty hunter.....it looked so fucking good!

I'm not really sold on this one yet

I feel you could do this same comparison with literally two dozen plus 'different' FPS shotguns.

I wish the graphics were closer to the CGI reveal. It could end up being a lot of fun, but it's looking pretty rough right now. Imagine this game with even Alien Isolation-level visuals...

Dead Preyce

Not into horror games, so doesn't look that interesting to me. But I'm sure the people who liked Dead Space will love this, so thats a positive.

Looks great, giving me some serious Bioshock in space vibes, which isn't surprising as they have said that the System Shock series was a big source of inspiration for them.

Not sure how I feel about the shadow enemies though, they looked a bit bland in the footage.

I'm still surprised that people haven't gotten over that this isn't Prey 2. I think they are kinda doing a disservice to the game itself by making the conversation about the name and what could have been instead of just calling it something else and avoiding all the BS people keep throwing at it since its not the game they saw before.

This looks like System Shock which has me really interested in it, can't wait to see what they do with it.
