Fine by me.
Sheiks spin-off confirmed?
Good, that settles that.
put a fork in it, we're done
They dont want a female Link. That is all folks! Just let developers do the games they want to do, and then you just enjoy them. This female Link thing is getting a bit boring. Even worst considering that 70% of the people asking for a female Link have never played a Zelda game before....
Just have Zelda get her own game. Let her be a warrior princess or something like that.
The Legend of Zelda. In which she finally does all the shit on her own.
This is probably what they're going to do. Zelda's Happy Castle Designer.
So Zelda is too good to have a female protagonist, huh? Noted.
It's simple: Give the spotlight to one of the many strong female characters in the universe instead of shoehorning in a female Link because some people are crying about it.Just can't fathom having a strong opinion that Link needs to be male.
I'm cool with this. There's always spin-offs for Zelda games not focused on Link.

Zelda won't/can't be the hero. Miyamoto-san has spoken.
Be thankful for the possibility of a cooking mama spinoff starring Zelda

Just as long as Zelda knows her place.
Tingle's rupeeland is awesome, I'd be up for itWhat genre of game would be a good fit for Zelda? One like Tingle's?
Disappointing. A Zelda lead mainline game could be great. Don't like the idea of just a spin-off.
But the opposite seems to be true, no? Specifically, the Sheik comments. They've shot down that idea too.
There are some series where people call for a female version of a character and I think it's just ridiculous. I mean, people were calling for a female James Bond. WTF? JAMES BOND IS JAMES BOND. Just because a character has been played by different actors doesn't mean they aren't all playing the same person and that the character's gender is fluid.
On the other hand, Zelda is one series where a female version of the protagonist makes sense, because with a few exceptions (Zelda II, LA, etc.), the protagonists of the games are all different people who are reincarnations of the Hero of Time. Different heroes in the same role could and should be both men and women. The only thing standing in the way is the Link-Zelda dynamic, but hey, it's not like they often give the two any kind of explicit romance, anyway. And even if they did with two females, that's cool, too. It's only old Japanese men and MRA douches who have a problem with an adventure game with two women as the main characters.
Why wouldn't you be satisfied with that?
But the opposite seems to be true, no? Specifically, the Sheik comments.
"Either you're okay with female Link or you're sexist" come on, I thought we moved on from this.
Another thread where people will complain about why there isn't a female option for Link. You would think by now it would be understood Link and Zelda always reincarnate into similar looking people, but I guess not.
But the opposite seems to be true, no? Specifically, the Sheik comments.
Miyamoto: LINK IS SUPPOSED TO BE ME
Sheik game huh
It's going to be a stealth game isn't it
Sneaking past Ganon's cameras in the 7 years of Link's absence
More than likely would not get the same resources or scale as a mainline game. Would likely try to vastly differentiate itself from a mainline game rather than just give a small twist based off Zelda as the lead. Doesn't carry the same meaning.
I'll take it, but they could do more.
True, it wouldn't be the same as a main game, but some of Nintendo's biggest/most popular games are spinoffs. You have the various Mario spinoffs then you have Mario characters who have spun off into their own series like Donkey Kong and Yoshi
We know that ... which is why we are asking for a FEMALE REINCARNATION OF LINK, THE OWNER OF THE TRIFORCE not Zelda as the protagonist

Simple question: do you know other nintendo games exist apart from Mario and Zelda? Where they have increasingly more gender and character options?Ive been amazedfor years now how Nintendo has seemingly gotten a free pass from the diversity argument. Thy are like the grandpa you just let be with their "Tradition"
No...that Sheik thing is an offhand remark. Saying "we've discussed it" means nothing, I'm sure they've discussed a lot of things that will never come to fruition. The fact that Anouma thinks Zelda can never be a heroine because Link it would make Link redundant tells me all I need to know about their vision for Zelda/Sheik.
Disappointing. A Zelda lead mainline game could be great. Don't like the idea of just a spin-off, but it's better than nothing I guess.
Well, yeah.
They should give the extended cast some games, though. A Zelda game would be cool.

Thank god, now people will hopefully stop being upset when rumors spun out of whole cloth shockingly fail to pan out.
Miyamoto: LINK IS SUPPOSED TO BE ME
Miyamoto: I'M NO LADY
Has any interviewer been smart enough to ask the question why, if Link is a different character in most Zelda games, he can't be a she (or either) in some versions? I mean, Link is not the same character in all the games. It's just weird to me that only dudes can be the Hero of Time and I don't think you lose anything by at least giving players the option, but Nintendo is very conservative I guess.
Do people really want a female lead crammed into the traditional Zelda series? There's nothing to gain. A unique Sheik game set in the same universe sounds exciting and fun to me. Juggling the secret of being a ninja like warrior and a government figurehead is awesome. A shit ton more awesome than "I'm the chosen hero to do whatever and this time I'm a girl even though that changes nothing because the Zelda series has never explored gender in any real way so I'll do the exact same crap Link did the end"
I'd also rather play as Zelda than a female Link. She's always been a pretty badass character in the Zelda series, so a spin-off game with her as the main character would be awesome.
Yeah, not in a mainline game. Since that's what most asking for playable Zelda mean. Fairly certain no one's asking for Zelda's Mean Bean Machine, though there are those who would be satisfied with that. But that's not what he said at all. She may be an heroine but not in a mainline game.
She could be in an action game with Shiek (like he hinted, and Shiek is Zelda) or Zelda herself (like in Hyrule Warriors), and he wouldn't contradict what he just said.
Not in a main Zelda game though. In a spin-off like Hyrule Warriors, sure and that game already has playable Sheik, Impa, Linkle and Zelda.
People are talking about the mainline games, and Aonuma and Miyamoto have given reasons why a girl Link and Zelda won't be the hero of a mainline Zelda.
I guess that's true. I'm just of the opinion that spin-offs can be more exciting and prove to be as successful as the mainline games depending on quality. Tons of other franchises bred great new games from spin-offs, so that's why I'm alright with it.No...that Sheik thing is an offhand remark. Not that it's super relevant to your comment, but you have that backwards.
