Netflix has given a 10-episode order to G.L.O.W., a comedy-series executive produced by Orange Is the New Black creator/executive producer Jenji Kohan and Orange co-executive producer Tara Herrmann.

Created by Liz Flahive (Homeland) and Carly Mensch (Orange Is the New Black), G.L.O.W. was inspired by the real story of the 1980s female wrestling league. Set in Los Angeles and showcasing big hair and body slams, the series tells the fictionalized story of an out-of-work actress who finds one last attempt to live her dreams in the form of a weekly series about female wrestlers.

Flahive and Mensch will serve as showrunners and will executive produce with Kohan and Herrmann.

The Reagan-era female wrestling league G.L.O.W. (Gorgeous Ladies Of Wrestling), a female answer to the male-dominated World Wrestling Federation, was showcased in the eponymous kitschy, Las Vegas-based syndicated TV series, which ran for four seasons, featuring sketches, songs and wrestling.

Flahive and Mensch are repped by WME as well as Schreck Rose and the Shuman Co., respectively. Kohan and Herrmann are repped by CAA.

Sounds like a fun idea considering how whacked out and entertaining G.L.O.W. was. People should watch the documentary that was floating around Netflix and Hulu.

Sounds kinda cool, but I don't trust Kohan to make a good show past the initial couple of seasons. She's burned me twice, we don't get fooled again.

The hair spray, the leotards, the clumsy wrestling.

Shit, I can see Vince trying to mirror this for the women on RAW/SD!

From Jenji Kohan? So it will be really good the first season and then every subsequent season will drop in quality?

Also is she the only one that can create female oriented shows?

Not sure if I will like this, but it is definitely an interesting setting.

Cancelling subscription.

I mean, Amazon Prime has Preacher and Mr. Robot. Those are some pretty strong exclusives. I know you're joking, but you can always just hop between services to grab the best things.

I have Prime but never really use their video service. I should watch those shows and that Nazi castle thing some time.

Episodes until they do the Wendy Richter angle?

I'm saying pilot or ep 2
She was in WWF not GLOW.

And WWE would never allow something that would reveal Moolah as one of the biggest scumbags in the industry who pimped out her students and setback the entire art form of women's wrestling in the U.S.

I was like 16 when when G.L.O.W. started. I wasn't into WWF or anything but for some strange reason I liked watching this.
With my bedroom door locked.
