Parallax

best seen in the classic "Shadow of the Beast"
New Mutants would apparently be set in the mid '80s? I thought that was the direction they were going with that.

theres no point to new mutants in the 80s if the apoc team is there. the team in the present timeline makes much more sense.

My suggestion from the get-go has been that they introduce X-23 in Jackman's final film as Wolverine as a way to pass the torch. I think it's a smart way for Fox to keep a character like Wolverine in their X-universe without having the burden of trying to straight-up replace Jackman. It also allows them to add another good female character to their lineup.

Always made sense that they'd use her in the final Wolverine film. There can sorta be a passing of the mantle or whatever, but also puts Logan in a more fatherly role.

This seems like the perfect setup from the rise in women protagonists throughout hollywood lately. However, can the actress playing X-23 dethrone Jennifer Lawrence as the main X-men protagonist?

Here's the casting call apparently. From Bobby Roberts favorite site : comicbook.com!
The stand-ins needed are shorter "Caucasian, Hispanic and Asian looking females over the age of 21," specifically at a height of 4'-4'11" and size 0-4 with dark brown hair.

Likewise, photo doubles for the same, "Caucasian, Hispanic, and Asian-looking females" but this time children, age 6-13, at a similar height of 4'2"-4'5" and also with dark brown hair.

I guess that would make them the blue team?

Been saying this for awhile, that they should bring in X-23 as a replacement. Though if they do her backstory they may end up getting some changes assuming Wolverine is PG-13.

I think her origin could be kept PG-13 enough for a movie. If they tried to do a faithful X-Force though, I don't think they could manage that. X-Force Vol. 3 was R as fuck.

Word is that Wolverine 3 will be R anyway though. The idea was already toyed with for The Wolverine, and approved as far as James Mangold was allowed to shoot footage with both ratings in mind and the R version was released for DVD/BD.

But the X-Men films are set in the past now, so X-23 wouldn't be available to be in them, absent time travel.

I could see her in the role. Too bad they wasted this actress for the TV show.

Years ago I expressed my desire that the final Wolverine film featuring Hugh Jackman should combine a buddy-cop adventure featuring Logan and Kurt/Nightcrawler, with a globe-trotting race against time mission to find and ultimately redeem X-23 before her creators realized their nefarious scheme. I even had the opening scene, general plot, and ending roughed out.

Which is weird since she is basically Wolverine with a duplicated x chromosome.

Daken is the Wolverine kid with a Japanese mom.

Yeah.

She looks far more like the biological daughter of Sarah Kinney, which is never really explained as far as I know, and Google tells me is a Gaelic name.

I guess she looks sort of Asian because... target audience digs Asian teenage girl ass-kickers? I dunno.

Comic book genetics I guess.

This is Fox though, so they aren't really going to worry about comic book details. Maybe they make her Mariko's daughter or something.

We honestly don't know what Fox's plans are for the X-Men universe after Apocalypse. Some of theorized that because of the resounding success of Deadpool, they're going to hold off on any new X-films for a while and focus on expanding Deadpool's universe - eventually building to an X-Force movie (which X-23 is a part of in the comics).

It depends on when and where Jackman's final Wolverine film takes place in the timeline. It's said to be inspired by Old Man Logan - which took place "50 years in the future". However it doesn't have to take place that far ahead. If they make it take place, say, after the events of Deadpool, they could easily introduce X-23 and have her instead be a player in the Deadpool films going forward, and eventually X-Force.

I was going to say, why not Gemma Chan from the BBC show Humans? But I think she's too old for the role. But yeah Daisy from Agent of SHEILD as X-23 would've been great.

Wolverine isn't part of the MCU so she could still play the part.

I've yet to see an actor make the jump from FOX(X-men) to MCU or vice versa unless I missed someone, so I highly doubt it.

Is Laura/X-23 considered Asian? I never really thought so when I saw her and I'm Asian.

Anyway, I think Audrey Plaza would be fun.

She looks so generic.

Her character design reminds me of something IMAGE comics would've come up with in the early 90s.

Which is really illogical, and not what they've been saying; they're pretty clearly planning to continue forward with these new characters, assuming Apocalypse is received well. There's no reason to stop making X-Men films just because you've finally got another profitable property within the same universe.

Is Laura/X-23 considered Asian?
No, though she undeniably looks a bit Asian under some artists (particularly Michael Choi, who did a lot of her early appearances).

Because Superherohype may not have actually heard a rumor about X-23 and is just going off this. :p

That's not usually how they work, though. If they'd heard about this via that bullshit comicbook post, they'd have sourced back to that, or at least pointed to it as shaky support.

They didn't. Probably because they heard this shit solo and comicbook just snatched up whatever bullshit was available to piggyback. Because they're ass.
