Everyone too busy playing Crashlands to post???

Ahaha, can't say I blame ya. ;)

Though I've also been digging deeper into Banner Saga and boy oh boy does it look beautiful on the plus. Fantastic game!

Plays great too! The sequel should come out soon and I absolutely can't wait to see how they'll continue the story :)

Did anyone get dungelot 3? Yet to see any reviews of it but the screens look cool

I ended up picking this up last night as well and really like it. I didn't play the second one, but it's way more polished and I'd say more tactical than the first. Biggest issue, as with the others in the series, is a lot of spelling mistakes which is no big deal.

Not sure how to describe it but overall it just has a bigger feel than its humble beginnings. Probably should redownload the first one to see what has changed from a mechanics point of view.

Reading the TA thread, the dev is aware of some bugs that need to be fixed. But knowing that Dungelot 2 was, from what I gather, a bug filled mess, I'd say this is nowhere near that state. And, of course, happy it has returned to premium.

Crashlands is so good so far. It honestly seems to take he best things from the genre and boil it down into a package that plays great on mobile and PC.

I went ahead and double dipped thanks to the cloud saving.

This game has put these devs on my radar.

Their other games Quadropus Rampage and Towelfight 2 are worth checking out. Same sense of humor, the former is a roguelike brawler, the latter a bullet-hell arpg

Is Crashlands enjoyable on an iPhone 6 Plus? That's the only iOS device I own, and I'm torn between picking the mobile version or the PC version.

Absolutely. It fits the form factor perfectly.

This game is so polished and well done, awesome! For me this will be hard to beat this year on my iOS devices.

Very much so, although it can be slightly cumbersome unless you play with your phone propped up somehow. I'm on a s+ and it's just fantastic.

While I love the game to pieces, it needs to be seriously optimized for mobile play. Why do I have to go back to one of the craft tables to be able to track/untrack a recipe? Why the hell can't I drag and pinch-to-zoom on the map?! Moving your character down (straight down), can also be annoying, as the inventory hot keys get in the way. Other than that, it's sublime.

One thing I would like is to be able to mark the map where resources are, ala Don't Starve. I'm having a hell of a time finding enough Walker Blossoms to make more Blastique.

You can build a sign in your sawmill. :)

Some tidbits on Sorcery 4 from an interview with Inkle
We've not done any content updates this time around - partly, we're right now finishing up writing Part 4, and don't want the ports to detract from that - and partly, the complexity in the Sorcery! series is already somewhere between mind-boggling and brain-melting. (There are, at last count, 695 individual variables carried over from Part 3 into Part 4 that affect the game - from inventory items, to choices, to character customisation, to people you've met, and so forth...)

Considering you can instantly warp to your station from the map screen, this doesn't seem that much of a hindrance.

I do agree with okno that you should be able to pinch to zoom and drag around the map. Every time I open the map I try because my brain is so wired for that gesture. Seems like a silly oversight.

Me too. It's the first thing I did when exploring the crash site. Hopefully it's something they can patch in.

Yeah, but no. I shouldn't have to completely halt my progress to warp to wherever my station is, guide Flux there, open the menu, change it, and then warp back to where I was, ESPECIALLY if I'm in a spot that doesn't have a convenient teleport. Sometimes, I have multiple recipes I am trying to complete at one time, in one journey, so that I can craft them all at the same time. This saves me time, and warping back to change what I'm tracking is inefficient. Sure, I can write down what I need, but that's less than ideal.

That said, it's a fairly minor complaint. its just annoying.

The devs have always supported their games long after release with new content and fixes and improvements, so I wouldn't surprised if things like this get fixed in the future

so i bought Crashlands... please tell me there's a way to get a virtual d-pad on screen rather than tapping where you want to go on screen? i can't find it in the menus.

Nope, even on PC, it's tap/click to move. But you can hold your finger down to continuously move in that direction

Crash lands is super fun. The art style is cute and the gameplay is a good take on Don't Starve.

The UI could use a few patches to make it better. Not sure how well it would play on a 4 inch screen either.

Crashlands sounds pretty cool. You guys are hyping me for it but the controls sound horrible to me :(

^^ Surprised to hear that for Asphalt 8 in particular. Yes, I hate the F2P aspect of it, but it's honestly one of my favorite racers regardless of console or mobile. The sense of speed is incredible and, at least running on a Metal capable device, the graphics are outstanding with not a single framerate drop on my iPad Mini 2 or iPhone 6.

Just my opinion. Part of it is missing a new Burnout on console, which this has a lot of. I still find it to be fantastic though. And you can play quite a lot of content before having to spend money.

MC5 is just okay though. I will agree there isn't a truly great first or third person shooter on iOS to compare with consoles.

Asphalt 8 is pretty much everything I dislike about console like wannabes.
It uses the newest flashiest graphic effects but the poor art design etc. still makes it look cheap (Modern Combat and Dead Trigger suffer from the same problem). And the flashy graphics, which still look cheap, are pretty much the only thing the game has going for it.

The physics don't feel fun and the rubberbanding is just hilarious. Overall, the gameplay just isn't well done and fun, which goes both for playing it with or without a controller.

The F2P aspect isn't that big of an issue for me so far.

While we are speaking of F2P games. Did Modern Combat 4 have a more normal campaign progression without super short levels? I got it for free from IGN too but didn't get around playing it because Gameloft is too lazy to add mfi support.

Usually "console experience" seems to only be in regards to graphics. Ports of actual console/PC games like Transistor, Oddworld, etc. aren't called console-like on their Store pages

Man, i'm bummed about Crashlands. Tempted to get a refund, but you can't DL it again after that right?
Yep, refunds prohibit you from buying it again later, if you don't like the controls see if you can get it on PC. Personally I don't really mind the controls but I'm playing on a 6+ so I don't really have to move my hand far like I would have to on a tablet.

Bought AirAttack 2 and so far I have to say I am not feeling it at all. Both control options don't feel so good and having your thumb covering the screen sucks, especially if what is going on is already so busy.

The enemies and the levels are not separated well enough visually for my taste and the gameplay so far doesn't feel that interesting. The bombing feels weird too because you get points for bombing everything. I know I am fighting nazis but bombing a city to the ground just doesn't feel right.

Thanks to the free to try option I also got around playing Horizon Chase for a bit and that game actually got me. I was interested before but wanted to wait for a sale or port but now after the trial I might just bite.
There are some small things that quirk me though. They put nitro on the X/square button of the controller and not on A/X like usually in racers and in some parts it feels like the car is turning automatically?

Ahaha, I agree 100% re AirAttack 2 (and Asphalt 8, for that matter...). Why am I bombing every building in the city??? What is this, Dresden? Feels so offputting but maybe we're over thinking it. ;)

But yeah Horizon Chase is the real deal. Love that game.

^^ You guys are way overthinking Air Attack 2. LOL.

It's a GAME. Just as realistic as the UFOs in the same game.

As for the controls, I don't know what to say. The relative touch option is exactly the same as every other (well made) shmup on mobile. Honestly, I hate shmups that don't have that option. You can put your finger anywhere on the screen and control the plane, allowing you to not have it where you need to be watching for bullets and enemies.

This game is actually tame in terms of the number of bullets and enemies on screen at once compared to bullet hells from Cave, for instance, which have pretty much identical controls and cost six times as much (or more) as AA2.

So I'd say if you don't like the controls then you probably wouldn't like any shumps on iOS, especially bullet hell ones.

Actually for me AA2 was TOO tame and ponderous. I prefer the Cave offerings, even at their premium price.

Yeah I realize I didn't have any issues with the AA2 controls.

Oh, I love the Cave games too and wasn't complaining about the mass chaos in those games. I like them just as much and don't mind paying for them either. I personally think AA2 was way under priced. I was just using Cave as a reference for being kind of the standard bearer for great shumps and having the same control style as AA2.

I still really like AA2 though. Things do get a lot more hectic in the last third of the game. Not Cave level of bullet hell but still a good time for me at least.

Yeah, it's funny how twisted my conception of the genre has become as a result of Cave's offerings. Didn't have the patience to get to the faster parts of AA2. It is impressive for the price, but I was still left wanting.

Also because I don't have enough on my plate I picked up Dungelot 3 and it's really really good! So polished and quite funny. I'm not very good though, anyone have any tips? I'm trying to unlock the Vampire but am dying on the fourth dungeon (I think? It's called Deadwood).

For me, separating the enemies from the background isn't well done which can be annoying in a shmup.

Well, I got my shmup fill with another purchase on Vita now but I paid like 40 times as much compared to AirAttack2 so the comparison isn't really fair. To be honest, I only got AirAttack2 because it was discounted and people said the graphics are a nice Metal showcase.

Thanks for the warning though. For iOS shmups, I will try to stick to mfi supported ones with horizontal Gameplay then.

Man I'm constantly deleting games because my 64gb phone is running out of space. I'm gunning for that 128gb option next time I upgrade!

I'm thankful that I have all of these games ready for when I'm going for my 14-hour trip with airplane. Planning on completing Dragon Quest IV on the phone come this April, unless I get it for Nintendo DS in the meantime.

Is Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 any good? Loved Theme Park back in the day.
It looks great and no IAP:s is a big plus.
Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 is legit on an iPhone 6.

You actually keep it on you library, but the catch is that you can't update it ever again, stays on the version you bought it forever...

And yes, you can repurchase it anytime. Customer service told me that once while I was trying to purchase a game I got from a promo code.
