cant decide whether to get this on PC or android

I am actually doing both (well iOS for me). Got it on my phone last night and started playing, really enjoying it so far. It has cloud saves that are cross platform, so my plan is to pick it up on Steam in the near future, so I can continue my game when both home and out and about.

I really enjoy this one on my 6+ and consider a steam key to play it on the big screen, too. With x-platform cloud saves this could be really cool.

It gets pretty tough some hours in, stupid butterflies :D

Thanks for the OT!

tough? what difficulty are you on? i'm playing on Normal and it feels like a nice difficulty but i'd hate to get too far into it and not be able to knock it down to Easy if things get too tough.

This picks up a lot faster than Don't Starve, played only a little bit so far and I've already got a house and crops.

yeah, i enjoy this way more than DS. it's breezier and brighter, with a lot of useful quality of life improvements

Enemies one shotting me are what I consider to be tough 😉

Maybe it's the touch controls on the small screen.

I love the fact that I don't have to micro manage food, water and these things. Much more enjoyable for me.

Really loving this so far. Bought it on iOS but I'll be picking it up on Steam to play at home. Cross-platform saves are a great thing.

I'm playing on the second-hardest difficulty (Advanced or something like that) and I was routinely getting one-shot by the smallest enemies until I crafted the Wompit gear. When I went out for the resonance part there were larger versions of the base enemies that hit for about 200 or so and that's not too far away from the ship. Went out a bit further than that and ran into palette-swapped enemies who crit-one-shotted me for 550.

This game is phenomenal! I spent all evening playing it. Nice to have what I know will be one of my favorite games of this year already released. Everything is nearly flawless and I don't usually like these types of games

i'm having trouble with the Grandmammy quest - i've crafted the potted sunshroom but cant find what else i need to give her to trigger the rest of the quest. anyone else know?

What a shame this seems to be getting ignored on GAF. I've put a good few hours in so far and this game is absolutely incredible. Could definitely shape up to be my GOTY.

Yeah, been playing it for a couple of hours too, on my tablet. Super addicting, I can see myself sinking a couple of dozen hours into it on the long run.

Might even get the PC version and check out the cross-save stuff.

I went ahead and double-dipped. While it plays great on tablet, the PC controls make it that much better.

Yeah, the game had an "available now" pop-up open up for me when I launched Steam so I figured why the hell not.

Looks like their servers are fucked atm though. Can't verify my purchase right now, so I can't sync my saves to the cloud.

e: can't log in on the Steam version either

The fact that this has cross platform support is really awesome, and I wish WAY more games had that.

Being able to play on my PC or iPad at home and then continue on my Android phone on the go is really appealing to me.

Hopping in to show my support! Bought this yesterday and ended up playing nonstop til 1am and I was planning on playing Dragon's Dogma!

Game is super addictive with easy crafting and lots of hooks. you can randomly find new recipes just by gathering things (a box will pop out of it I have no idea why this is so satisfying to me). you auto use the tool that is needed on things so you aren't constantly switching items. You can teleport to your chosen home base anytime penalty free. when you craft weapons and gear they roll random stats that can vary WILDLY. this alone is enough to get me addicted. combat is fun, speedy and arcade-like and the enemies and their animations are wonderful. you can build a house with all that entails.

There is a story you follow and the game feels huge already. you find NPCs while exploring that hand out quests. the music is great but there hasn't been much variety yet so I hope for more. the game runs great on my IPhone 6 and my IPad Mini Retina 2 or whatever it's called.

I really can't say enough good about Crashlands. I had honestly never heard of it before it was listed on touch arcade and I thought... why not. if you like crafting things and/or action RPGs, you have found your next addiction. By far my favorite IOS game in recent memory and at 5 bucks it's just a steal. 11/10

A few questions:

1) In-app purchases? How bad? It sounds like it's not really intrusive but I'd like to know for sure.
2) Playable on a phone? Or do you need a tablet (in which case I'd probably just do PC)?
3) Requires an online connection? Same reason as above.
4) Touch vs. mouse/keyboard? Curious to hear people's opinions.

1) I haven't seen any in-app purchases anywhere.
2) Playable yes...though definitely more difficult. I played the first few hours on my iPhone 6 Plus
3) Only requires a connection for cloud saves.
4) Mouse and keyboard is better. Easier to dodge enemies and you have hotkeys for both your action bar and UI.

Yeah, the music is pretty forgettable so far. Still, did anyone else upgrade their Wompit? The song that played had me bursting out laughing.

Sweet, onto my Steam wishlist it goes. Thanks!

This game isn't even tracking on Steam Stats. :(

I really hope it gets much deserved attention down the road.
It's charting pretty high on the app store and somewhat high on the google play store. I wouldn't be surprised if most of the sales for this game come from mobile since they advertised a lot more on mobile gaming sites than pc sites.

Had anyone gotten the schematic for the Giantbone Skull? I got the legendary crafting mat, but haven't found the schematic.

I just picked this up on my iPad, I'm excited to try it out. I wish they'd add controller support for PC at some point, as my HTPC setup makes me super shy away from mouse/keyboard games.

What's next for Crashlands?

http://www.butterscotch-shenanigans.com/2016/01/whats-next-for-crashlands.html

Crashlands Patch Plans
Just because the game is out, doesn't mean we're done working on it! We have a schedule laid out for making sure everyone in the universe has the best Crashlands experience possible. Here's the current plan.

v1.0.5: Bug Fixes
Even though our intrepid beta testers put in over 4,000 hours of debugging, naturally, some bugs appeared after launch. Most of them are pretty minor, but a few could cause some people some serious headaches. So our first priority is taking care of all these whacky bugs to make sure we make Crashlands as enjoyable as possible for everyone. Version 1.0.5 will have these bug fixes, and it should be deployed & submitted by the middle of this week (January 27).

v1.0.10: Quality of Life
There are a number of other features that we've been looking into adding to just make life a little bit better and smooth some of the rough edges that still exist in the gameplay. We have some pretty cool ideas for these, but we'll have more details as we get closer to deploying this patch. No set date on when 1.0.10 will be deployed, but it shouldn't be too long after 1.0.5.

v1.1.0: Crashlands Creator
This will be our first MEGA PATCH. The Crashlands Creator patch will add a bunch of new toys, and will also feature player access to other player-made campaigns, which can also include weird mutators like permadeath, the removal of crafting entirely (WHAT), permanent night, one-shot deaths 100% of the time, and creatures murdering each other. These mutators won't affect the official campaign, but other players will be able to use them in the campaigns that they create.

We don't have a set date on when we will be deploying the Creator patch, but we will keep everyone apprised of its progress as we go.

The Google Play downloads number also updated to 1 thousand. A bit low, I thought it would be more popular then that.

Just got it on Android, had my eye on it for a day or two but the positive feedback here pushed me over the edge.

I don't normally spend this much for a mobile game so it better be good!

Man, you're missing out on good stuff. Have you played Wayward Souls, 80 Days, etc.?

Damn this is good. Perfect for the iPhone and iPad. Not really tempted to get it on my Mac though, quite content having it as a mobile game.

I don't really have experience with games like this...but man is this REALLY a fantastic experience across iOS! Such a great looking game on the iPad Pro. Also, very addictive!

The best part of this game for me is getting my practically non-gamer GF to play it. She mostly plays match-3s or simplistic tower defense games to waste time, but this game is like crack to her. Just guided her thru the controls for 30 minutes, and now she's hooked. First game we ever 'done' together. It's awesome :)

NervousXtian

Thought Emoji Movie was good. Take that as you will.
This is a pretty amazing game... don't compare it to don't starve.. this isn't a survival game really.. it's an action RPG.

Plays remarkably well on a phone to boot. Play this!
