What are your hopes for Battlefield 5?

So we are near 2016 and Battlefield 5 will probably be unveiled by March or April. What are your hopes for the game?

I for one would like a kinda Bad Company approach in terns of gameplay. I would like to see Maps that are weill designed for specific modes.

When Bad Company 1 came out i started to love Battlefield (Dont hate me xD). It was the first Battlefield game i fully enjoyed and it was the first successful and well designed Console game. Destruction that changed the MP completly. A really great and charming Campaign with great characters.

And there was of course this new game Mode Rush. After BC2 this mode IMO got the middlefinger with Battlefield 3 and 4. Maps werent designed anymore for this mode and mosty everything was just thrown in to make the Rush Fans happy.

I would love to see Rush as well established part of the game. Maps should be playable for both fanbases of Rush and for example Conquest.

The next thing that worries me a bit is the Setting. What can they do now? I for one would be very tired with another 0815 modern/current military game.

I would love a revisit to Vietnam or WW2.

So what about you guys?? :)

I guess a better game visually and technically than BF4 at the moment. I think that BF4 is at the great place right now and another modern Battlefield game should not come next year. BF4 is an amazing success with 100k concurrent users across all platforms most of the time, even today. Maybe Fall 2017 when BF4 starts showing some aging and declines.

They could have a WW2 or futuristic one before the BF5 comes out.

Also no campaign, better 4-8 person co-op scenarios without a real story Spec-Ops style.

Highter TTK, slower movement, but retain the agility of bf4, no prone, no spawn beacons, less useless weapons and attachments, a more stable frame rate. (If its 20v20 like battlefront, i don't care, if that is what it takes for locked 60fps)
More focus on rush mode.

TLDR: BC3

Contemporary setting. I've grown tired of the futuristic one.
A Battlefield in Modern Warfare 1 setting, please. An actual AK-47, MP5, and M4A16/A4. Not futuristic variants bullshit.

Pretty much this.

A campaign that makes sense. Also let me make the choices instead of "Your the Captain Rucker but im gonna make the decisions for you." A voicable protag too please.

A higher TTK and less reliance on an abundance of weapons and bullshit. I hate not having the right gun when I'm in an encounter.

A heavier focus on Rush. More BC2-esque. Have it WORK.

Maybe WWII again, or even more Vietnam?

Higher ttk, less grinding, no fucking vehicle customization, more destruction, half decent rush maps, no modern or near future setting. The chances of getting any of these is about 0.

Bad Company 3, a real 1942 sequel/remake, a real 2142 sequel/remake. Significantly less focus on upgrades and unlocking shit through leveling up.

Anything else = not interested.

Also, NO BATTLELOG. Stop fuckin' making me need to have Chrome open to do shit.

Not getting my hopes up. Expecting Bf4 but worse. Why worse? Because for some reason I don't think they'll include the year of patch work that made bf4 great. Hope I'm wrong.

I don't think it'll be 2143 either for some reason. I don't really want that either. I'd rather have this game stay in modern, but set it in America. China invasion. It'll probably be Russia or India though. Hell maybe both.

Um. I'm also expecting a major hit somewhere. Probably the destruction. They'll bump the graphics up to near Battlefront levels in exchange. We'll see though.

A campaign and a much better one at that... yes i said it, i still want one knowing that 3 and 4 were bad to mediocre. As a setting i would like to see world war 2 or Vietnam.

  • No single player component, at all. DICE have proven they simply cannot make them.
  • Bring back more classes, I want medic and engineer to be their own thing again.
  • Nerf snipers, heavily. Make them difficult to use, so people have to compensate for bullet drop/gun shake.
  • Bring back BF3's destructibility, rather than the gimmicks seen in BF4.
  • Make the PC version feel like a flippin' PC game, and not just BF3/4 on different hardware.
  • Unrealistic, but PS4/PC cross platform play would be fun.

1) Dice LA works on it. They have done an amazing job of turning a buggy/laggy game into one of the current best fps.

2) Dice LA takes all the good fixed things from BF4 and puts them into BF5 and continues to improve it.

3) Battlefront engine. It looks amazing and runs at 60fps on consoles. Do that for BF5. Should be easier without having to worry about last-gen.

4) No story to focus on bigger/better multiplayer. People will probably disagree, but BF3/4 had terrible single-player campaigns. I'd rather they focus their resources on the multiplayer. This however changes if it's Bad Company 3...

5) All future dlc maps/modes to be free. A big problem in multiplayer games is fragmentation of the community. I'm not saying no to paid dlc, but to keep the community healthy, all maps and modes should be free. They can make their $$$ from guns/camos etc.

People wanting bad company 3 baffle me.

Give me the regular bf game but take out like 1/4 of the features

Also yea the gun shop in hardline is great.

Prioritize Conquest because that is what Battlefield is.

World War 2 setting is what I really want. Enough with the modern shit. Don't fall into the trap of wall running and all of that bullshit, either. Leave that to the arena shooters.

Bigger maps. The maps for BF4 are great if you play on 48 player servers. Make the maps more like BF2. Flags further apart, more vehicles on the map to get around, etc...

Biggest thing...Don't revert back to Bad Company. Battlefield is not 32 players on linear maps with 3 flags. Battlefield has prone. The only part I would be happy with is implementing the Bad Company destruction.

Bad Company 3 first.

Since that wont happen: WWII, or Cold War era. Be brave and do something different by doing something old. No big shooter has gone back, and it's just time to go back.

No sci fi junk. No thruster suits or exo movements, or jetpacks, or freedom to jump around all over the map. Just a traditional, grounded experience.

Separate maps for Rush and Conquest. One map doesn't fit all. I'd rather play 4 Rush maps and 4 CQ maps at launch, rather than 8 maps that play both modes.

More distinct and exclusive classes. I dislike that the Engineer had very capable weapons in BF4.
Bad Company 2 had it pretty right. Engineers were destructive against vehicles, but were stuck with silenced SMGs and sucked at infantry.

Don't shoehorn classes into each other. Give us more classes.

Bad Company 3 worthy destruction

This.

I think those great BF4 changes are already in effect in Frostbite, and benefitting Battlefront.

BF4 is my favorite shooter of all time so I'd like to see them further refine that formula. I think being next-gen only will allow them to do a lot more with destructability and I expect that to play a large part in the next game.

I'm fully expecting the next game from DICE to be Battlefield, there have already been two non-mainline games released since BF4 came out.

When Bad Company 1 came out i started to love Battlefield (Dont hate me xD). It was the first Battlefield game i fully enjoyed and it was the first successful and well designed Console game.

Battlefield 2: Modern Combat on the PS2/Xbox was a far better designed console Battlefield than BC1.

For BF5, I would really appreciate it if DICE actually went back to their roots instead of pumping out more Battlefield/Bad Company/CoD hybrid nonsense. You know, give us a proper successor to BF2 or 1942.

More destructability.
Maps designed for 64 players, not 48.
Prone.
Do not simplify it further.

And I wouldn't mind if it went back to WW2 or forward to 2143.

But pretty much don't become Bad Company. And fuck Battelog.

Like 1943 and BF2 combined.

Huge maps that are actually interesting.

Fuck Battlelog. Make a normal server browser please. It has always been a bullshit idea.

Forget SP and focus on a good MP.

A stable release would be nice. Test your own shit.

- A nice SP campaign.

- Better experience for people who want a consistent multiplayer experience: Working matchmaking for solo players on official servers. I don't want to be forced to play on custom servers with custom rules and shitty admins. I think this would greatly improve the health of the game if they can strike a good balance here. Because right now, matchmaking does not work in BF4. You always get on empty servers.

But they don't do that. If they remove the SP campaign, BF5 would have the same MP content as BF4, and not twice as much as it should have. Why don't people realize this?

1. Make it play more like BC2 (Sniping, TTK, movement speed, destruction, whatever)
2. Conquest mode greatest hits maps (BF2 forward)
3. Rush mode greatest hits maps (BC2 forward. Arica Harbour, for example)
4. Free maps. Figure out the business model to sustain this. No premium.
5. Great netcode, great party system
6. $30-$40
7. If including campaign, make it BC3 and charge $60
