How will Square Enix handle all the big releases in the coming years?

To clarify the thread title:

Square has really some pretty big games coming up, with none of them having a release date, but probably all of them will be released until 2018.

Final fantasy 15
FF7 Remake
Kingdom Hearts 3
Dragon Quest XI

Since FF7RE is going to be Multi-part it's very probable that it will soak up all the hype in the coming yearS. FF15 is already fighting this, with hype slowing down since the announcement of FF7RE. The other titles could encounter the same problem since probably all of them will release close to one part of FF7RE.

All of these Games are too big to be launched simultaneously and even launching them in the same year would slow down the momentum. Not forgetting that FF7 will have multiple launches.

Let's not forget that all of them are JRPGs. So, it's not like you can play two of them at the same Time.

Yes i know, we know next to nothing about DQXI release or KH3, but since they're going to release them both on PS4 i expect them to release them until 2018.

So basically what im saying is. How can Square handle the release of these 4-6 Games in the coming 3 Years ? Which of these titles will get most attention and thus higher budget.

Final Fantasy VII Remakes announcement has nothing to do with the deflating hype of Final Fantast XV in my opinion.

They will release them one at a time every year.

FFXV, Nier 2, Dragon Quest Heroes 2, Dragon Quest Builders, KH II.8 HD, RPG Project and Star Ocean will be their JP titles for next year while Hitman and Deus Ex will be their western titles.

2017 will have FFVII Remake Part I, Dragon Quest XI and KH3 will be the big games for that year.

2018-2020 will have different FFVII Remake Parts release and another big game joining that.

As long as they don't release relatively next to each other the only question is how they are going to pay for all the marketing and I think the first thing that comes to mind to that is co-marketing.

They might made the wrong choice by aligning themselves with Sony so much because Sony can't foot that bill either while simultaneously assist with co-marketing on all these other titles that come out and their own.

Depending on how the NX works out time-wise I can see that being associated with Nintendo so they share that burden and the situation looks better again.

GerAlt-Right. Ciriously.
They will look at the release date for the years biggest game and make sure that their game is released on that date.

SE released ff12 and kh2 within 3 months of each other.

They released tomb raider and just cause within a month.

They dont seen worried about it.

They most definitely can handle marketing more than one game in a single year. I'd say we'll see this:

FFXV in 2016
DQXI in 2016/2017
KHIII in 2017
FFVIIR: Chunk 1 in 2017

They now have an engine that works and constant cash flow from mobile and two successful MMOs. They should be able to produce more. It will still take 3-4 years though.

Dragon Quest Builders: January 2016 (Japan, confirmed), ???? (west, if at all lmoa)

Bravely Second: February 2016 (Europe), March 2016 (NA)

Star Ocean: March 2016 (Japan; confirmed), Early Summer 2016 (west)

Dragon Quest Heroes 2: April/May 2016 (Japan), Late Summer 2016 (west)

World of Final Fantasy: June 2016

Nier: Automata: September 2016

Dragon Quest XI: November 2016

Final Fantasy XV: December 2016

Kingdom Hearts III: Spring 2017

Final Fantasy VII (Part 1): Holiday 2017

Of course that's all assuming nothing gets delayed. This is all just gut feeling and speculation on my part. Not sure on when the VII and VIII remakes will come out in west. Probably no later than October for VIII?

Add in Dragon Quest Heroes 2 & Builders for July & August 2016 releases and you're set :).

Ah, yeah, knew I forgot something. Thanks!

By releasing them all on the same day so I can empty my bank account into those games, some food/water, and locking myself in my house for two years.

It's an honour to be avatar quoted for the first time.

I wasn't sure whether to count Hitman and Do Sex since they're western rather than JP, but you know what, sure, we already know the former's March and the latter's August, so even taking them into account we'd have a healthy distribution that way.

Setsuna's Feb in Japan... if it gets a western release it'll probably be a late holiday 3DS swan song? Seems like a wintery type of game.

Glad I could help :D!

And the VII and VIII 3DS ports/remakes are likely going to be summer games for Nintendo (So, VII coming out June 2016 and VIII coming out September or August 2016)

For JP only. We haven't gotten West localisation let alone release date

Western localization for that is likely going to be sometime in 2017 (early at least).

Too much is coming out next year from Square and to better space out releases alongside ensuring 2017 has a LOT of games, it would be wise to push DQXI another year for the west.

Could happen next year in the west but who knows :l.

Yeah, that makes a lot of sense actually. Give them a 2-3 month gap so people have time to play. Early for VII and late for VIII seems pretty much perfect.

I personally feel like XI has a good chance of coming out next year since it's the 30th anniversary and a major title for Japanese players. Plus we already know it's coming to NX and not to turn this into one of those threads, but all the rumours seem to be pointing to a 2016 launch for it. DQXI as a launch title would be a huge get in at least Japan.

In the west there's a possibility they might want to delay it to avoid getting crushed by other holiday releases, though, esp XV and KHIII. In Japan it'll be fine though, for sure.

I don't really believe they will release all those games until 2018.

Maybe some of them will be pushed to the next gen.

I'm buying more Square Enix games next year than I've bought cumulatively over the years.

They're nuts.

Edit: I might be exaggerating a bit but not much.

Yeah, I expect it will release in 2017. Next year we get FFXV, World of FF, Star Ocean, possible Setsuna.

DQXI will likely release before KH3 in the west anyway (amusing KH3 is releasing March/April 2017), so it would be best for DQXI to get its western release around January/February 2017).

I never doubted XI releasing next year in Japan; it is bound to happen and the DQ teams get jobs done fast (notice how so many DQ games release in Japan for example XD!).

Its the games western localization that has people thinking its a 2017 game for NA/EU markets.

Also noteworthy is that KH3 and FFXV are likely going to be worldwide releases, not release in JP first and come out in NA/EU second. At least FFXV is confirmed to be a worldwide release when it comes out next year, so KH3 is likely going to be the same.

West will be a year after Japan. My guesses are:

DQXI Japan: Summer 2016
FFXV: Holiday 2016/Q1 2017
DQXI West: Summer 2017
KH3: Holiday 2017-Spring 2018

FFVIIR I have no idea now that it's getting split up.

I'm sure with a little PR spin, we could convince ourselves that all of their future releases would be better released in parts, too.

But the real answer is they're not coming all at once in 2016, these will be spread out over the next three years.

No way KH3 will be a late 2017 release when FFVII Remake Part I is coming out in 2017. KH3 could be a summer 2017 game, Dragon Quest XI could be a February/March 2017 game and FFVII Remake Part I could be a Fall 2017 game.

They'll probably just make sure they come out in separate quarters. I know some developers make it seem like you just HAVE to focus on a single title for excessively long periods of time to maximize monetization but uhm...nah. Realistically, most of your sales are likely done after 3-4 months and your next title isn't going to ruin the sales of your last one too bad. Anyone still holding out 4 months later is probably either not getting it or holding out for a sale.

Star Ocean 5 coming out in Q2 2016 shouldn't hurt DQ XI in (maybe) Q3 2016 which won't hurt FF XV in Q4 2016.

Edit:

Woah... Unexpected but cool :)

And also totally not true, lol. See, this is how rumors get started.

My guesses:

Nier: Automata - August 2016
FFXV - September 2016
DQXI - Late 2016 (JP)
KHIII - Spring 2017 (Maybe a bit later if they're going to wait until 2017 for its full marketing push because FFXV will be their marketing focus in 2016)
FFVIIR Part 1 - Late 2017
