1. Dark Souls 3 : FROM and Miyazaki, coming back to one of my favorite game series right after the absolute glory that was Bloodborne. Yes. Please.

2. Uncharted 4 : I'd have rated any other Uncharted game a bit lower, but this is the last one, and it's a Druckmann/Straley game.

3. Eitr : It just looks amazing.

4. The Banner Saga 2 : The feels.

5. Dishonored 2 : Not many games like Dishonored, and the announcement trailer for the sequel was fantastic.

6. No Man's Sky : The concept is great and I'm really curious to see how much I can lose myself in this.

7. Firewatch : I don't know much about the game, but it intrigues me a lot.

8. Darkest Dungeon : I haven't played it yet, but I've heard so many good things about the early access version.

9. Hollow Knight : I rarely do crowdfunding, but this looked fantastic. And fun.

10. Mafia III : I didn't quite like the second game as much as the first, but the 70's setting is really all I need.

Runner-Ups - Horizon Zero Dawn, Ghost of a Tale and Night in the Woods.

Alright, here we go:

1) The Legend of Zelda for Wii U: This was a hard pick, since this year there isn't that one game that has me dead focused on getting, but instead multiple. That said, it's Zelda, I've been into this series since I started gaming and each mainline console game has been really special to me. Even the divisive Skyward Sword I loved (and liked more than TP, but lets not get into that). Hopes are high for this release, since they put expectations high after showing a beautiful trailer and all their teases. Let’s hope this is one for the ages.

2) Persona 5: Man, it's already been almost 3 years since I lost myself in Persona 4. Feels like yesterday. P4 was definitely an experience I won't forget, a fantastic game that had me enthralled the whole way through. It wasn't without its faults, but knowing that what it lacked is what Atlus is so good at doing on different games (like combat & dungeons) has me even more excited than before.

3) NiER: Automata: This was my surprise showing from E3, even more than FFVII Remake or TLG. Another nier game? And a collaboration with platinum? It's ridiculous and its what has me so excited for it. The trailer showing gameplay shot up my excitement even higher, the combat looks ace which if I had to make a complaint about the first game it would be it. Can't wait for it.

4) Dragon Quest VII for 3DS: This is the one dragon quest game that I’ve always wanted to play, but never got my hands on. You have no idea how glad I was when they finally announced they were bringing over the 3DS version. Seeing how so many claim it’s their favorite game in one of my favorite franchises, expectations are high and I don’t doubt that it’ll be great. While it’s here as my 4th pick it can easily bounce up to my favorite game this year if it’s as great as one of my all time favs, Dragon Quest VIII(which I don’t want to put on this list since I already played it).

5) Final Fantasy XV: If you’d ask me like a year and a half ago this question, it would be FFXV, no if ands or buts. But a lot has changed on my perspective of the game, and of course expectations and excitement has been tempered. This isn’t to say I’m not excited for it, since it’s here in my top 5, but I’m a lot more skeptical now. They have made some positive changes though recently and there’s still the amazing soundtrack to look forward to as well. It’s a mainline FF game so I’m in there day one, and while they’ve reduced expectations I’m still excited on what’s to come. They still have some ways to go and I hope I feel more confident leading up to the release.

6) Ace Attorney 6: Six as my sixth pick eh? This has been a wonderful series, with every game being worth it. Coming off of Duel Destinies, I’m really excited to see what they have in store for us. Wish Dai Ace Attorney could be on this list though. ;_;

7) Kingdom Hearts II.8: Have not played DDD yet hoping that something like this would come, that and an Aqua short story should be ace. I just hope (and doubt) that they’ll fix some things about the game that I’ve read a lot of people complain about.

8) Yakuza 0: Finally we get a Yakuza game for PS4! This looks as great as the previous games, can’t wait for it.

9) Ni-Oh: Team Ninja may have had a disappointing output recently, but it doesn’t change the fact that they’re still talented. This game looks incredible, a lot like Onimusha which I loved. I’m excited, and hope that they can make this great.

10) Deus Ex Mankind: The last Deus Ex game was great, and I’m hopeful they’ll make a compelling sequel.

Tough list to draft up (and holy shit is it Japanese Centric), but if even half these games come out next year I’m a happy camper. There’s one game that would be in the top 3 but I decided against it, which is Dragon Quest XI. It’s just because we haven’t gotten a western announcement and I doubt it’ll get here by next year.

1. FINAL FANTASY XV : This one has been a long time coming. This has been a game I have been long anticipating and it is coming out next year. The production values are still there and the gameplay plays great with improvements being heaped upon it as it goes. The characters and story have long pulled me in. I actually think a lot of people are underselling it as of now but come March I think we will all be changing our tune.

2. KINGDOM HEARTS HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue : The final pieces of the Kingdom Hearts puzzle. I want to know more about the Keyblade War and how it all got started. I am also excited to play "A Fragmentary Passage" as it should be awesome to see Aqua again and get a feel for what KINGDOM HEARTS III could play like.

3. Bravely Second End Layer : I actually have been watching a lot of Japanese trailers for this game and it just has me really excited for it. I enjoyed the first game a lot and think the second game will be a big improvement over the first.

4. Horizon Zero Dawn : I have always been a big Guerrilla Games fan and probably always will. I love the Killzone games. So no surprise when one of my favorite western developers decided to make a game in my favorite genre--RPG--I would go crazy for it. I want to see more but so far I am pretty stoked for the game.

5. Gravity Rush 2 : Behind P4G, Gravity Rush was my favorite game on the Vita. So when I saw they were making a sequel on PS4 I jumped for joy. I am so happy they are finally making a sequel to the game.

6. Uncharted 4 A Thief's End : Uncharted is not a game series I regularly return to, usually playing a game once and never returning to it. This will probably happen with Uncharted 4, but I will enjoy every second I will play of the game.

7. Star Ocean V Integrity and Faithlessness : This actually just looks really cool. I saw a lot of it during TGS streams and it strikes me as a game I can really get behind. The visuals are beautiful and the combat looks really visceral.

8. World of Final Fantasy : This didn't really get on my hype list until TGS. After watching the TGS trailer I was convinced that this game was gonna be something special.

9. Persona 5 : Played many, many hours of Persona 4. While I am super excited for the game, my own hype has me worried that my expectations are unwieldy and are not really in check for this game. I am still very much stoked for the game. Plus I am still worried that the game is going to get moved out of 2016.

10. Deus Ex Mankind Divided : While I wasn't a big fan of the first game, this sequel seems to be correcting all the problems I had with the first game and that has me excited to see and play more.

5. Street Fighter V

7. Salt and Sanctuary
8. NieR: Automata
9. Dragon Quest XI
10. Ni no Kuni 2

I went about it "What do I want to play NOW?" and I just like my RPGs D: Only 1 game that doesn't qualify as that (Street Fighter). Been a huge Fighting Games player since Tekken 1 and Street Fighter 2, so I'm looking forward to play the new installment. Not AS hyped about it tho. Dunno why. Persona 5 takes the cake followed by my beloved Soul series. Not even hyped about FF15, but go damn it's been 7 years since the last one and I love the series as a whole. Backed Numenera, and I'm a huge cRPG fan, so I hope it will live up to its predecessor.
I have no clue whatsoever about the new Mass Effect, but enjoyed the original trilogy much.
Salt and Sanctuary is a very souls-esque 2d RPG combat plattformer with a great artstyle. Only indie game on my list.
Even tho NieR is one of my favorite games of all time, I'm cautious about Automata. I don't really care about the battlesystem much and have to see if they nail the characters and the world, which is far more important. I have no clue DQ XI actually came to PS4, but seeing a trailer about it makes me wanna play it. I will play Ni No Kuni 1 this christmas, so I have to see how much I like it, but I'm interested.

No one will read this text anyway. Ha.

Is there some reason that people believe Cyberpunk 2077 is coming out next year?

Cause it's not. It's probably not coming out until 2018 at the absolute earliest.

Some statement made by someone from CDPR.

I agree, its not coming out next year another one the isn't: Kingdom Hearts 3.

1. Street Fighter V: My favorites series of all time no contest here.
2. Mass Effect Andromeda: The Mass Effect series made me stop caring for most RPGs. Is that good.
3. Nier Automata: Absolutely loved the First Nier story and can't wait for this. Platinum will improve the combat by a mile.
4. Zelda Wii U/NX: Legendary series that need no introduction. Last Zeldas I played were Wind Waker and Minish Cap but still excited for this.
5.The Last Guardian: Not a big fan of Ueda's games but I love the art style and hopefully this will deliver.
6. Guilty Gear: Revelator: A great update to my favorite fighting series after Street Fighter. Incredible visuals and deep gameplay.
7. King of Fighters XIV: Game still looks rough graphically but somewhat looks more promising than Playmore's previous entries.
8. Gravity Rush 2: Another PS4 exclusive with beautiful art-style and intriguing world. Hopefully they will improve the control scheme in this entry.
9. Final Fantasy XV: I have almost 0 faith in SE these days but still eager to see how this game will turn out.
10. Tekken 7: Another game I have low expectation but still love the franchise.

  1. Nier Automata: I absolutely adored the first game and can't wait to see what Yoko Taro does with this one.
  2. Zero Time Dilemma: The finale to one of my favorite VNs.
  3. Persona 5: Atlus has done so much to evolve P5 over the other games that I can't help but be excited for it.
  4. Dark Souls 3: Looks to be taking the best of all the souls games (+ Bloodborne).
  5. Night in the Woods: The supplemental games showed just how charming this game is going to be.
  6. Firewatch: It's as funny as it is mysterious.
  7. Horizon: Zero Dawn: Robot dinosaur post-post apocalypse, how could I not be interested?
  8. Nioh: Samurai Souls starring Geralt of Rivia. What's been shown thus far looks really good.
  9. Mirror's Edge: Catalyst: If this is just more Mirror's Edge then I'm all for it.

1. Uncharted 4 : My favorite developer's first brand new game on the PS4 after getting experience with The Last of Us Remastered. I enjoy the hell out of every Uncharted game I have played, and I don't expect anything less from this entry.
2. Persona 5 : I was waaaay late on P4G, but I made my way through it obsessively once I got my hands on it. I thought I had lost my appetite for JRPGs but it turns out I just hadn't played a compelling one in too long.
3. Horizon: Zero Dawn : This is a game that was just as huge of an announcement as TLG/FFVIIR/Shenmue at E3 for me because an RPG from Guerilla seemed just as fantastical as any of those. It's for real and it looks amazing.
4. Deus Ex: Mankind Divided : Human Revolution stunned me with how well blended an RPG/FPS could be. The multiple ways to approach different scenarios were always fun to explore. Just more of it on a new platform sounds good to me.
5. Abzu : What if this really is as good as Journey!? I am dying to see more.
6. Firewatch : They couldn't have picked a better environment to appeal to me, and when they name Bioshock 2 and other games while pitching the concept, I feel like they are going DIRECTLY down the path I want them to.
7. Final Fantasy XV : I'm more jazzed about FFVII but I doubt it makes 2016. I've been loving what I've seen since the re-reveal, and I have no issue with the character designs and other general style that seems to be putting others off.
8. Street Fighter V : I wasn't initially blown away by this, but announcments like the whole 'we're not doing 7 versions of this' and seeing comparisons from the prior games and recognizing just how much better this is going to be presented really makes me excited for it.
9. No Man's Sky : This has quite a compelling concept, and I don't doubt it will deliver. It's lower on my list because I don't tend as strongly toward the free-form-exploration / less narrative game types but I will not miss out on it and it may impress me even more than I think it will.
10. Ratchet & Clank : I LOVE the series and have played most every entry save for Secret Agent Clank, Into the Nexus, and Full Frontal Assault. While I have enjoyed most of the main entries, I have always felt a little like I just want them to keep things more like UYA. I don't know whether this is going to do that, but it has a good shot at being my favorite in the series since it (UYA, that is).

1. No Man's Sky : Everything about this game intrigues me, I just want to explore it and find out its secrets.

2. Final Fantasy XV : Been waitin' a long time for this. Not just the fact that it was once Versus XIII, but finally having a new single player mainline FF entry feels good as it's one of my favorite game series.

3. Dark Souls III : I do love me some Souls games. Can't wait to delve deep into both the combat system and the lore.

4. Mass Effect Andromeda : Fuckin Mass Effect. I love that shit.

5. Doom : Big fan of the original two, not too big on 3, but I've loved what I've played in the Alpha so far and that's just the multiplayer.

6. Hitman : It's unfortunate that Absolution wasn't a true sequel to Blood Money in terms of gameplay and level design. Luckily, this new one is, and those are the things I loved most about the Hitman games.

7. Persona 5 : I only recently played Persona 4 but I really liked it a lot and I'm looking forward to playing a new one.

8. Deus Ex Mankind Divided : I have mixed feelings about the last Deus Ex game, I still enjoyed it overall but I'm hoping for this new one to be a lot better.

9. Uncharted 4 : I've enjoyed the Uncharted games over the years but I'm kind of tired of the formula at this point. UC4 does look to add some new things though so I'm excited to see what Naughty Dog has been up to.

10. EA Sports UFC 2 : I'm a fan of UFC and it's fun playing this over at my friend's house against each other. The new one looks to have some great improvements over the first attempt from EA so I'm excited.

It's always fun making these lists here and I like thinking about future games for a while. I do feel like I miss a lot of games that I am still excited for though. A lot of indie games usually surprise me too because I just might not have heard or seen anything about them until after they come out. I guess I'm just saying that I'm definitely excited for and will be playing and enjoying a lot more games than just these ten that I listed, and there's a good chance some of these might not live up to my expectations. All in all though, I'm glad I was able to list this many games that I'm really excited for and I hope I enjoy them all and find many more to enjoy throughout the next year too.

1. The Legend of Zelda U

3. Persona 5

5. The Last Guardian

7. Uncharted 4
8. Mass Effect Andromeda
9. Deus Ex Mankind Divided
10. Final Fantasy XV

1. SMTIV Final : While the dungeons in the first game left a lot to be desired compared to III and especially SJ, the game overall was solid as fuck and I'm eager to jump in for a sequel. Plus, the fact this is a new game and not the typical Atlus director's cut cash grab deserves to be supported with all of my money.

2. Dragon Quest XI : SE may fuck it up, but I love this series. Will be grabbing 3DS version and PS4/NX version. It will take some hideous pre-release reveals to put me off of this and I generally expect SE to exceed my expectations in sucking the last few years.

3. Persona 5 : I may come off a bit negative in Persona threads but I really do like the games and can't wait to get into this one. What I've seen so far looks snazzy as hell, but I don't actively follow news on games I'm definitely buying.

4. Zelda Wii U : Not much to say here. Zelda got me into gaming and I still love it.

5. #FE : Game looks awesome and has from concept to initial reveal. Atlus is my most trusted company in the industry and I have confidence this isn't the title where they drop the ball. Will also send out the Wii U on a happy note.

6. Zero Escape 3 : End of VLR was a bit disappointing but I'm still on board 99%!

7. Deus Ex Mankind Divided : Really like what I've played of HR. It grabbed me in ways few other games have and might be the only time I've felt inclined to actually RP in a non-social setting. So pretty excited for the next one.

8. Tales of Berseria : Nothing in particular I'm looking forward to here but I like Tales and have a good idea of the quality I expect from it. Makes the yearly installment something I look forward to more than hyped projects.

9. Rise of the Tomb Raider PS4 : Tomb Raider was another one of the first games I really got into. It hasn't kept its appeal the way Zelda has and I didn't love the reboot, but I liked it enough and am looking forward to the sequel.

10. Horizon : Looked interesting. Will probably get bumped from this list though, now that I think about how interesting 2016 will be.

9. Tom Clancy’s The Division
10. Final Fantasy Explorers

1. Divinity Original Sin 2: I'll be pretty surprised if this releases in 2016, but when you take one of the decade's best RPGs as your foundation and add even more ambitious cooperative play, I'm not about to leave you in the honorable mentions.

2. XCOM 2: I'm still losing sleep to the first reboot and its best mod.

3. Stellaris: I can't wait to see what the grand strategy wizards do with a space 4X.

4. Torment: Tides of Numenera: I am skeptical that this game will live up to its pedigree, but I badly want to see what InXile have done with their Torment successor.

5. Dark Souls 3: I love the Souls games, but playing so much DkS2 and Bloodborne in successive years has left me a bit burned out.

6. Zelda Wii U: Zelda is my favorite series, and a new entry is always going to rate, but it's been such a long time since I loved a console Zelda without reservation, and EAD has not convinced me that they can build an expansive overworld that is actually fun to explore.

7. Cosmic Star Heroine

8. Street Fighter 5

9. Yooka-Laylee

10. Firewatch

Honorable mentions: Dragon Quest 11 (no way it makes it west in 2016, is there?), The Last Guardian, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided.

1 - Final Fantasy XV
A no brainer, this game has been coming for ages so I can't really pretend I am not uber excited about it finally coming next year.

2 - Persona 5
The fact that both XV and this are coming in the same year is enough to call 2016 a huge game for JRPGs. I am super stoked about Persona and I can't wait to play all of it.

3 - Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8: Final Chapter Prologue
Kingdom Hearts is my favorite franchise ever so I get obviously excited about each and every game. If everything goes as planned, KHIII may be my most anticipated game for 2017.

4 - Rise of the Tomb Raider PS4
We are getting it a full year later, but I promise I shall not forget about her. Not even close.

5 - Uncharted 4
This game will up the generation stakes a bit higher and that is always a good thing. Really looking forward to it.

6 - Ikenie to Yuki no Setsuna
Tokyo RPG Factory's first title is looking more and more promising as they show us more content of it. I feel like it could very well become a dark horse next year and come out outstanding, really looking forward to it.

7 - Danganronpa V3
This series coming to PS4 is probably a huge enough step for me to be super excited about a new entry, I also need my puhuhuhuhu fix.

8 - Street Fighter V
I've never played Street Fighter games thoroughly before and I plan to start with V, so I really hope it is as good as it seems to be shaping up to be.

9 - Mirror's Edge Catalyst
The delay was a bit of a bummer, but May got more exciting now that Faith is coming right before summer kicks off.

10 - Gravity Rush 2
I still need to play the first one, which I will enjoy on PS4 next year too, but Kat is definitely a force of nature I'm looking forward to getting to know.

Final Fantasy XII HD Remaster would've taken spot #2 if SE had announced it already, quite a shame. Also, I don't think The Last Guardian will be out in 2016, which is why it's out of my list.

1. Uncharted 4- A Thief's End: What can I say? I love the Uncharted games, and everything we've seen of A Thief's End so far excites me. Naughty Dog always delivers great experiences and I definitely believe Uncharted 4 will be a bona fide GOTY contender and send-off for the series.

2. Firewatch : I love the atmosphere that Campo Santo has created for this game. The beautiful art style, voice acting, and the sense of mystery surrounding these characters make this a must-have for me.

3. Horizon- Zero Dawn : I'm not a fan of the Killzone series, but I'm confident that Guerilla can deliver a really unique and innovative game here. The demo we saw at E3 easily won me over. Hopefully Guerilla can live up to their ambitions with Horizon, and I'm eager to see more of the game.

4. Persona 5 : It's Persona. No explanation needed!

5. Cuphead : The boss battles look challenging and fun, and I am really digging the visual style. Hadn't even heard of this one until E3, but it looks really special.

6. Quantum Break : Pretty much the reason why I bought an Xbox One, and everything we've seen of the game so far has impressed me. Remedy sure likes to take their time, but it looks like all that work is going to pay off.

7. The Last Guardian : I'm interested in it just based on the fact that it actually exists.

8. Abzu : This game looks beautiful. I LOVED Journey, and I'm sure Abzu will also deliver a unique, unforgettable experience.

9. Mirror's Edge Catalyst : I found Mirror's Edge to be a pretty average game that had a ton of potential. Hopefully Catalyst can reach the high ambitions that I thought the original game didn't meet.

10. Dishonored 2 : This game would probably be higher on my list if we had heard or seen something substantial about it since E3, but they've been pretty quiet. Hopefully it does make it out by the end of the year. Dishonored was one of my favorite games last gen and I'm excited to see the improvements to the formula.

  1. Persona 5: I been waiting for a new Persona games since the 4th and not some spin-off like the fighting or dancing game :p
  2. Gravity Rush 2: I loved the first one. One of the most unique gameplay I played in years and excited to see the Kat's new power as well the vibrant visuals with the power of PS4 ;p
  3. Star Ocean 5: Integrity and Faithlessness: One of top 5 JRPG series. 6-party member and seamless battle made me excited for this game. Also, can't wait to see the Witch backstory.
  4. Genei Ibun Roku ♯FE: Not too keen about the idol but I do love the visuals in-game. Really excited to see how the fire emblem characters play their role.
  5. Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth: Never played any Digimon games but this is one of my favorite anime from my childhood.
  6. Moero Crystal: (SCEJA release) Moero Chronicles is one of my favorite dungeon crawler and super happy that Crystal is getting an English subs.
  7. Fire Emblem Fates: More waifus :3
  8. Final Fantasy XV: Been waiting for this since they first showed Versus XIII.
  9. Horizon: Zero Dawn: Visuals look amazing. Love the robot dinosaurs.
  10. The Last Guardian: I love Sotc and Ico, so I'm excited for another adventure.

Honorable Mention:
  • Odin Sphere: Leifthrasir
  • Nights of Azure

Shpeshal Nick

1. Quantum Break: Game looks simply astonishing and Remedy have a 100% strike rate
2. Crackdown 3: Literally the most underrated game of last gen. Fun printed on a disc. Throw in destruction? Hooooo boy
3. Horizon Zero Dawn: Had a really good E3 showing and as a lover of Tomb Raider, Tomb Raider with Dino mechs looks too good
4. Zelda U: No explanation needed. It's Zelda
5. Scalebound: It's platinum so you know it's going to be awesome. That blending of action and RPG elements looks right u my alley and you can command a dragon for fuck's sake.
6. Gears 4: I was in the minority that thought Gears 4 looked great at E3 and I love the franchise so I'm excited for this entry.
7. Street Fighter V: Been a Street Fighter fan since I was 12. I own almost every single entry this series have ever spawned including cross overs. I'm in.
8. Ratchet and Clank: Never touched this series on PS2, but the PS3 games made me a believer. Can't wait for this one.
9. StarFox Zero: Loved Lylat Wars on 64 and this is by Platinum.
10. Mirror's Edge Catalyst: The first game was one of the true underrated gems of last gen.

So many great games coming out next year. Really wanted to squeeze ReCore and Halo Wars 2 in. But ReCore is very Whisky at the minute in terms of its release.

Well 4 of the top 8 from last year's list is eligible for this year's ballot. Including 1 and 2 lol. Anyway...

1. Star Fox Zero: I have been waiting for this since 1997
2. Street Fighter V: I suck at fighting games but it is SF and the chance to not have to pay for characters is enticing. I only have to buy one copy of Street Fighter this time.
3. Mass Effect: Andromeda: Mass Effect was my favorite new IP last gen and it brought me back into PC gaming. I can't wait to play the newest chapter in the series.
4. Fire Emblem Fates: Collector's Edition had been pre-ordered. I cannot wait.
5. The Legend of Zelda U: This game is the biggest unknown of 2016 and that is pretty cool if it works out.
6. Uncharted 4: This series has been a fun ride. It will be sad to see it end but hopefully satisfying.
7. Horizon: Zero Dawn: I was blown away by it at E3. I cannot wait to dive deep into it.
8. Final Fantasy XV: It feels like such a long time between XII and XV with only one MMO in between. Hopefully the delay isn't much longer.
9. Fire Emblem x SMT: I have no idea what to expect. I just expect craziness.
10. The Last Guardian:I do not believe this game is coming out next year.

5. The Last Guardian

6. Mirrors Edge Catalyst

7. Firewatch

8. No Man's Sky

9. Mass Effect Andromeda

10. Twilight Princess HD

1. The Legend of Zelda U: Because it's my favorite game series ever and next year it will be five long years since the last console entry.
2. Dark Souls 3: After the disappointing Dark Souls 2, Dark Souls 3 look like a return to form for this unique series.
3. Final Fantasy XV: I've always been an FF fan but IX was the last entry I really loved. XV seems to change many things and I'm curious to see how the game turns out.
4. Fire Emblem: Fates: Loved Awakening and my 3DS desperately needs some new games.

1. Uncharted 4: Naughty Dog are, in my opinion, the only console developers who can match a brilliant script with brilliant gameplay. They 'get' it. Their last two games (UC3 and TLoU) were A+ products. UC4's single-player looks phenomenal, and the multiplayer looks like it has a whole bunch of cool stuff. Their games don't babysit you and treat you like a pre-schooler, their loading times are always tolerable and better than most, the music in their games is in a class of its own, they don't have a history of releasing unplayable games, the list goes on. It would take an anvil of bad choices to make UC4 not worth the wait.

2. Horizon: The premise of the game has me really really interested in playing it. The 'vertical slice' that they showed was fantastic. They nailed the look of a world that is overrun by tribalism and machinery. The gameplay looks fresh, the graphics are only matched by one other game (UC4), and the sound design is bold and beautiful.

3. Firewatch: Gorgeous artstyle, clever dialogue, and an element of mystery. I googled the game a bunch last week (just trying to find more news and potential hints behind the mystery), and the more I read the more excited I became.

4. Street Fighter V: Amazing character designs and awesome gameplay impressions from the beta. I played and finished MKX, and while the game was great, it didn't fully scratch my fighting game itch. SFV seems like it's going to be the itch scratcher.

5. No Man's Sky: If this turns out good, then it will more than likely be my most played game of 2016. They had me at space exploration, and they doubly had me when they announced the presence of a wanted system. GTA in space = Sold.

6. The Witness: I've been waiting to play this game for over 2 years now. Braid was a phenomenal product -- a beautifully twisted game. I love exploring and unraveling a mystery, and the puzzles of the game hint at a much bigger 'happening' in the game. I'm in.

7. The Last Guardian: It seems like a game that's going to tell a story through gameplay. It's like a big-budget version of Brothers with a strong emphasis on sound. Tight gameplay, fantastic music, and no open-world fluff. That's why I want to play TLG.

8. Persona 5: To be brutally honest, I'm sold on P5 strictly due to the artstyle. It just looks different in an awesome way. The gameplay looks like it has cool mechanics and even cooler locations, so I'm there on day one.

9. World of Final Fantasy: A cute artstyle wrapped around a seemingly retro themed game. The trailer they showed had a ton of charm and a sort of whimsical vibe throughout. It seems like a game that will have some tricks up its sleeve due to its throwback nature.

10. Dragon Quest Builders: I want to get familiar with the Dragon Quest universe, so I'm excited to play Builders. A 'themed' version of Minecraft with a lot of lore sounds like a great time.

There are a few other games that I would buy and play without a question, but I'm just not 100% confident that they're going to come out in 2016. GTSport, FFXV, and Dead Island 2, to name a few.

1. Persona 5 : Everything that has been shown from the game so far has either met or exceeded expectations when envisioning a current generation Persona. Can't wait to see how the Persona team builds off of P3 and P4 - two games that I consider to be among the best JRPGs of all time.

2. Horizon Zero Dawn : The reveal of this game at E3 blew me away. Love the concept and art style - can't wait to see more!

3. Dark Souls 3 : Admittedly I am suffering from a little "Souls fatigue" after DS2 and Bloodborne, but I have no doubts that Miyazaki can deliver again.

4. Zelda Wii U : A new Zelda game is always going to bring a lot of anticipation, but the focus on the open world design has me very intrigued (despite the onslaught of recent open world games).

5. Uncharted 4 : Everything I've read about this game seems to indicate that Naughty Dog is really taking care that this game lives up to expectations. Plus, dialogue options!

6. Gravity Rush 2 : Gravity Rush was easily one of my favorite experiences with the Vita and I could not be happier that the series will have new life on PS4.

7. Twilight Princess HD : I never had a chance to play this at release and this game looks to be the perfect appetizer while waiting for Zelda Wii U.

8. The Last Guardian : It still does not feel real that this game is actually coming. The E3 re-reveal alone had me emotional - the real thing will wreck me and I can't wait for it.

9. Star Fox Zero : I think this game is going to be a sleeper hit (critically) for next year, especially considering Platinum's ability to make great set pieces and the use of the gamepad.

10. Pokken Tournament : Despite knowing next to nothing about Pokemon, this game has a grip on me. It has so much style and I love that the Tekken influence is already evident.

1) Street Fighter V: I love fighting games, and this is going to be a big one.
2) The Last Guardian: when the trailer for this came on, my wife pulled the car over and we watched it together on my phone. Hype.
3) Persona 5: I still haven't finished P4G, but I have loved what I have played.
4) Dark Souls III: I still have to play DSII and the BB expansion, but I enjoy this series.
5) Odin Sphere Leifthrasir: the best story ever with good combat? I'm in!
6) Final Fantasy XV: hopefully this stores the series; I'll wait for reviews.
7) King of Fighter XIV: hopefully they make the game decent before release. I have my eye on this, which is a compliment in-of-itself.
8) Tekken 7: I'm unsure as to whether I'll get this, because we might get a new BlazBlue and Guilty Gear along with Street Fighter V next year. That would be a lot to focus on. I'm open to the game, though.
9) Valkyria: Azure Revolution: I have to a lot more to be convinced of a purchase, but I find the world interesting.
10) Killer Instinct Season 3: this is assuming that KI comes out on PC at some point next year. I will definitely pick this game up. I put it at #10 because its status is uncertain in my mind.

Special mention to wondering how Scalebound will turn out.

Season 3 is confirmed coming to PC and Xbox in March next year. Cross buy and cross play confirmed too.

1. Zelda U - Possibly my absolute favourite game series and I am really loving the art style they have used here. Will buy a console for this(well, will buy other games too of course, but this will be the main reason).

2. Deus Ex: Mankind Divided - I enjoyed playing HR and this one is looking to be as good or even better.

3. Dishonored 2 - The first game surprised me how good of a stealth game it was. And I do love playing stealth games. I did feel it was a bit rough around it´s edges and I think there is room for improvement. Here is hoping for an even better game.

4. XCOM 2

5. Rise of the Tomb Raider (PC) - Tomb Raider is the only game I have played in 3D and it looked great. It was a fun game and I can´t wait to play this one in 3D as well.

6. Mirror's Edge Catalyst

7. Hitman

8. Doom

EDIT:
Would like to add Telltale Walking Dead Season 3 to the list, but don´t think it´s confirmed for 2016, right?

7. Halo Wars 2
8. No Man’s Sky

My top five are almost interchangeable, there is just too much I'm looking forward to that offer incredibly varying experiences, how can you quantify it.

But I will.

1. Uncharted 4
2. TLG
3. GT Sport
4. Horizon Zero Dawn
5. Final Fantasy 15
6. Dark Souls 3
7. Mirrors edge
8. Quantum break
9. Dragon quest XI
10. Persona 5

I think every game will make it for 2016 except for DQ. Lots of other games I could add like Recore, SFV, Deus Ex, Rime and manyyyy moooree.

1) Uncharted 4: SinglePlayer looks incredible and Multiplayer looks like something I could actually get drawn into, the last game having done so being Battlefield 4

2) Dreams: Hand me those tools right now. Right now. I'll be sculpting for days on end

3) Hitman: I loved Absolution unlike many people, but Blood Money style gameplay is always welcome to return

4) Deus Ex Mankind Divided: Love the Sci-fi aesthetic, and it's probably the closest I'll get to Prey 2 style gameplay?

5) Um...lemme think about another one. This list is either reminding me that there aren't that many games coming out in 2016 I want or I have terrible memory

1. Fire Emblem: Fates
2. The Legend of Zelda Wii U
3. Ratchet & Clank
4. Uncharted 4

  1. Quantum Break : I loved Alan Wake and can't wait for more from this studio. They're bound to come up with some really creative stuff with the time mechanics.
  2. Mass Effect Andromeda : Long time fan of the franchise and a fresh start is exactly what it needs to move forward
  3. Crackdown 3 : The destruction gameplay looks so fresh. I haven't experienced anything like that in a video game before, so I'm looking forward to it. It's been a while since there was a serious jump in what new hardware can enable for gameplay.
  4. Cuphead : The art style with the Contra-like couch co-op gameplay make for an incredible combo. Can't wait!
  5. Doom : The alpha was pretty fun and it at least looks like it took some design inspiration from the classic
  6. Gears of War 4 : Really curious about how they're going to evolve this franchise for the new console generation
  7. Deus Ex: Mankind Divided : DE:HR was excellent, so I have no reason to doubt the sequel's quality
  8. Dishonored 2 : I'm hoping the delve a bit more into the lore. It felt like there was a lot there in the first game waiting to be uncovered.
  9. Far Cry Primal : Screw the naysayers. I like the FC formula and I look forward to playing with it in a very different setting.
  10. Mighty No. 9 : I helped fund this game ages ago and the gameplay videos look like it's going to deliver. We'll see.

#1 Persona 5

#2 Genei Ibun Roku #FE (or SMT X FE)
Fell in love with this one at first sight and my hype just grows larger by the day, with each new piece of info they release. It's a audacious take on both franchises, and even though i relate to people who got "offended" by how different it was from their pipe dream, i can't help but love everything they show from it. I'm sure it's gonna be great, and even the most devoted fans from both franchises will enjoy it.

#3 Danganronpa V3
After DG 2 you can literally throw anything at me with the Danganronpa label written on it and i'll pay you. And i'm being dead serious here.

(Going a bit OT here but boy you guys have no idea how fierce was the battle in my mind when i had to choose between this or Ace Attorney 6 :p)

#4 SMT IV Final

After spending hours dredging the devasted world of Nocturne, i can rest assure say that SMT turned out to be one of my favorite franchises, and although i haven't beat SMTIV yet I can't wait to put my hands on this one. Being that most stuff that irked me on the past iteration seems to be fixed, i'm sure i'll have a great time with this one.

#5 Dragon Quest VIII

DQ8 is one of the few JRPGs from the 6 Gen that i played back at the date, and not years after the release, but at the time I was too young to enjoy it to the fullest and ended up quitting when things slowed down. Now, 10 years later, i'll rectify this grave mistake and give it another shot, and hopefully enjoy it as much as other people do.

#6 Ratchet & Clank
R&C is by far my favorite franchise from Sony, and one of the reasons i bought my PS4 in the first place. Honestly, the idea of a remake didn't sound any good when they first announced it, but now, after all the gameplay bits showed, I'll be in line for this day one. Gonna be great.

#7 Star Fox Zero
Have just beaten Bayonetta, it's clear to me why people want their favorite franchises to be taken care of by Platinum. These guys are the best on what they do, and i have no doubt in my heart that they'll do a sublime job with this one. Also, I'm glad they took their time to iron the kinks and delayed the game, the difference between the E3 trailer and the Direct one is abysmal, most of the jarring issues presents on the former were fixed, and it will surely just get better and better.

#8 Cuphead
I have a soft place in my heart for games with peculiar art styles, that depart from the norm we have in games today, where everything is mature, dark and edgy, or just brownish all the way. Cuphead not only does something completely new, it does it in a magnificent way. I haven't even played it yet, but the 40's cartoons art style already made fell in love with it, and from the impressions I've heard the mechanics are also neat and responsive. Should be a unique experience all around, and one that hopefully will inspire developers to try new things on their games.

#9 Street Fighter 5
I'm new to the fighting genre, tried a few times to get the grasp of it but the barrier to entry is so high i ended giving up. But, with SFV on the corner, and after all the hype prefacing it's release, this dream is reborn and i'm ready to give the genre another take. Hopefully things will end up better this time around.

#10 Firewatch
Honestly, I don't have much to say about this one, aside from the fact it's one of the most intriguing concepts I've seen for a game. If you still haven't, watch this piece from it and see what's all the hype about.

HONORABLE MENTIONS:

Ni-oh, Horizon: Zero Down, Ace Attorney 6, Nier Automata, Unravel.

Man, next year could be really good! If even half of those games deliver we will have had two amazing years for gaming in a row.

Edit: I totally forgot about cuphead! Had to do some editing for my list.

1. Persona 5 : Most anticipated game by far
2. Mirror's Edge Catalyst : Loved the first one. Trust DICE, fear EA. Please be good
3. Zelda Wii U : It's a home console Zelda
4. Nier: Automata : Nier was one of the greatest surprises of last gen and the best soundtrack of last gen. Very high hopes.
5.Star Fox Zero :I'm curious because of the dev team.
6. Street Fighter V : The king has returned. Or rather will return
7. Dishonored 2 : The gameplay of the first game to me was incredibly freeing and creative. Did not care for the character design or story. If it plays well again then that is good enough for me.
8. Doom : Nostalgia is big on this one. I don't have that much faith in it but eh, why not.
9. Gears of War 4 :I'm over the franchise and yet I'd still like to give it a try
10 Shin Megami Tensei x Fire Emblem : I still don't get it but I 'm quite curious.

Feel guilty that nearly all the titles are sequels of established franchises or related to established IPs. But as usual brand new titles will come out that I enjoy. They just don't necessarily make it onto the most anticipated release list. I don't believe that The Last Guardian will release in 2016. If so though then it would be in the top 2 on this list. Don't think it'll be ready though.

4.) Tekken 7

8.) Final Fantasy XV

Honorable Mention: Horizon: Zero Dawn

1. Zelda Wii U : When they said that they discovered something and needed more time to finish the game, my heart stopped. This is my most anticipated Zelda since Ocarina of Time...they know exactly where they want to take the franchise, and the open world mechanic is going to solidify this franchise in gaming history once again.

2. Dragon Quest 7 Remake : I've never played DQ7 but have played basically every other one. Have always wanted to make my way through.

3. Fire Emblem Fates
: loved the last FE, this one can only be better.

4. Final Fantasy XV : This would be way higher on the list but I am very suspicious of Square-Enix's abilities in the modern era.

5. Overwatch
: I am interested to try this out.

1. The Legend of Zelda Wii U
2. Star Fox Zero
3. Uncharted 4

5. The Last Guardian

Something along those lines. Horizon Zero Dawn should probably be on there as well as Cuphead, but oh well.
