sometimes i cant fight the urge to eat sweets and just start eating, especially while watching movies.

im working out and i know its bad but sometimes i cant help it. i just ate a protein bar for the first time and damn was it tasty. it was a small one with 11grams of protein. can i replace sweets with that stuff or is there no difference between them except for the amount of protein ?

Some protein bars can have a ton of sugar so be careful.

This. You want the right protein bar or else it can still be a ton of sugar. I replaced most sweets with a Quest bar, they're basically my dessert. That or a piece of fruit on certain days. Usually only an apple or handful of berries.

When I have sweet cravings I eat 2 apples, no problem there whatsoever.

Okay, as long as you appeciate you've consumed what is equal to a can of coke,

thought natural sugars are better for the body than high fructose corn syrup and everything alikep

Sugar is made from the same components on a chemical level regardless of where it comes from.

Get on that quest bar grind. Best nutrition on a protein bar. Cookies and creme and smores are great flavors! I eat 6 meals a day and have 2 quest bars throughout the day and I look forward to those times !

no sugar at all in these and they are still tasty ?

yep! they use stevia.

my favorite is to microwave the cinnamon roll bar for like 20 seconds.

edit: because of the high fiber content you should not have more than 1 quest bar per day. and you can get boxes from the quest nutrition site for $24.

Fruit is more nutritious, but calorie for calorie it wont help you lose weight.

Not to mention whole fruit has a lot of fiber, which actually slows down your body's digestion of glucose, so you don't get the crazy insulin spike (and subsequent crash) that candy causes. That also means your body has more time to use up glucose as fuel before storing it -- as fat

:)

Yep totally the same. Coke is stuffed with vitamins etc.
If you're really trying to say eating an apple equals drinking a can of coke, you have to be a troll.
Maybe the sugar content may be the same, but there are other ingredients, too

OP is asking for replacements for sweets.
So what's better? Eating a snickers bar or eating an apple?
also OP, I've been working out for 6 years now, pretty great physique, and I eat those vile things called apples on a daily basis.

"Calorie for Calorie"

I would make the fair assumption from the OP's post that they are trying to lose weight. A calorie deficit is of exclusive importance in this sense, so actually having two apples (190 calories) is actually worse than a can of coke (144 calories) for weight loss.

OP is asking for replacements for sweets.

Neither.

I'd recommend Chicken Breast/Milk/Fish/Seeds.

They'll go further in terms of satiation too.

Yeah besides being far less likely to cause weight gain because the sugar is being processed slower due to the fiber that is coming with it, you are also getting lots of vitamins and antioxidants with the apple. Apples are damn good for you and are a perfectly fine candy bar replacement.

My man.
Noone is saying fruit doesn'T have sugar or calories, but some fruit is great for satisfying those cravings in a better way than chocolate etc.

No carb diets leading people to call fruit bad for you is possibly the worst thing to come out of them. Just eat sensibly...

They are all pretty expensive for what they are.

Chicken is like $2/lb and you can get ~90g of protein from that.

Quest Bar is at best like $1.25 a bar for 21g Protein.

Price/Scoop on protein powder is cheaper than that.

Why eat an artificial protein bar when you can have some natural snacks like fruits and nuts? Cut up an apple and spread some peanut butter on them slices. Yum!

change your mindset on sweets, that's the most important thing.

anytime you want sweets, take a look in the mirror to see if you really look like what you want first

chocolate chip cookie dough and cookies and cream Quest bars are p. gross and that's all my gas station usually has

the supreme protein peanut butter bar is actually pretty tasty, and has 30g protein. Probably more fat/sugars but whatever, I only eat one before work and not before I slob out on the couch.

A can of soda has three times the sugar of an average apple, and none of the good nutrients. So fuck fruitophobia. Fruits are the perfect snack for a sweet tooth.

Anyway back to the OP. I found that when watching TV i like to snack as well. So instead of not snacking, I make a giant container of salad 1 day and eat a bowl of salad every night. Get some healthier but tasty dressing and throw some sunflower seeds on there. Salads take a long time to eat relative to other snacks, so that helps me snack a lot less.

Sugar in a can of coke - 33 g UK
Sugar in a medium apple - 19 g

Also important minerals such as Iron are more prevalent in coke than an apple.

Also as far as fruit making you fat, I have never seen a person who can eat that much fruit without upsetting their stomach. You'd have to pound them by the pound, on a daily basis.

edit: that's a big apple, but the general point stands. Fruitophobia is dumb.

This agenda is just ridiculous.
Also, 2 minutes of google research showed me that the iron claim is wrong.
Also, vitamins?
