Lois'
"I can see 80% of your superhero shirt, but I need to see that last 20% to know for sure"
was a little silly. I've really been liking Action Comics though.

knowing "for sure" was the thing, though. She needed to see the costume even though by that point it was a foregone conclusion

but mainly its a cool story beat

Man, was the 100% ending shitty. My god.

all the trophy collecting...for that

I think my issue was more in the way JRJR drew
the shirt ripped to shreds. It would be like saying "I can't know for sure if that's a picture of Mount Rushmore, because there's a smudge over Lincoln's face."

Ok guys, I picked up Fury Max the other day at my comic shop, and I was blown away. Goddamn it was so depressing yet really compelling. Ennis and Parlov turned in one of the best Fury stories ever told, and the freedom to use him in their own universe was great.

I loved all the of the history and the message behind corporately-driven wars. And that ending...wow. I reread it like three times.

Yerp, there's a reason why I always say that it is Ennis's magnum opus. Story was so on point it's scary. Plus that handshake with the vietcong, dear lord the feels.

well, i don't think that scene would've happened if it was just Some Dude. I'd imagine finding out that Superman was your pal mild-mannered Clark Kent is pretty surprising and you'd want certainty beyond reasonable doubt so I don't think your analogy really holds

besides! The suit looks like a regular ass shirt (albeit really ugly) without the symbol

Yeah, I guess. I didn't read the book before this so all I know about Lois here is that they're not dating.

Yesssssss. Join the Kabuki LE hype train!

I had to. I'd probably do the same for sone priest black panther, pad Supergirl, and some Waid or Johns Flash. I wish Trasmet wasnt so much...though I mess with those Claremont Omnibus

Rebuying stuff i have! Doesnt count if i don't read it because I already read it!

I still need that Doom Patrol

Spock was like 15 issues too long

I enjoyed it right to the very end and wanted more after that. I would give many things to see a series where SpOck and Anna Maria are together.

Personally I would have been happier if peter never came back. I had the biggest eyeroll during that page where he was finally back.Look at the shit we got after he came back, So amazing right...

I have never been a fan of Peter. But if it makes you feel better to assume I am saying this only because of current peter then go right ahead.

I am sorry I offended your fav but not everyone is going to like every character.

I thought you dug Spider-Verse or am I imagining things?

I gotta agree with Messi here. I Love Peter, but with the current state of creative, I would have been happier leaving SpOck and Miles as the Spider-Men. It's less about the character and more about what the creative was doing with that character.

Hey Birdie, real talk, how bad is Shadowman? Does it just drop off when Milligan comes on or is it bad throughout?

It's pretty bad throughout. But Dr. Mirage is worth a read, so by default Shadowman is probably worth a read for context.

Really, honest truth, I don't think the comic is really that bad but the use of the WORST EVER fonts for demons talking sucks me out of EVERY PAGE.

It sounds dumb and petty and little but GOD that stuff bothers me.

Yeah but it wasn't because of Peter. I enjoyed seeing other spider characters Spock included interact. Peter was fine in SpiderVerse but I find him so very boring vs other spider characters.

Oh, I didn't mean to say that it was because of Peter. It was just you described it as being shit since Peter came back. I don't think many would say ASM has been great since it rebooted, but I wouldn't say it's been outright awful either. Just uninspired. Slott seemed out of ideas.

No reason to get pissed, but you said multiple times that SpOck was the first Spider-Man book you ever read, so its not like you had a real exposure when you read a couple of issues from the worst run of the last 15 years:

Same with Catwoman, would I go and only read Nocentis Run and were always very vocal what a shitty character she is, I am very sure at some point you would also say something like "maybe read something good of the character before you judge?"

I loved Dr. Mirage. I only read the small snippet where they introduced her in Shadowman and it was kinda bleh.

Hmm I think I'll have to check it out for myself if it's not that bad except for the font thing. I can totally understand that kind of thing though, it doesn't sound silly to me; but it isn't something that'll bother me in the long run, I don't think.

Got the first Ant-Man trade today. I really like the Panini Marvel trades, I'm a confessed trade peasant. Batman RIP had to come back in stock just after I'd ordered it. :|

Out of ideas in regards to Peter absolutely. To me the most interesting thing he has done with Spider-man recently was SpOck and then Spider-Verse but that was carried by all of the characters and it being nice to see them for a little bit. The story was meh. Amazing has been terrible. Then Slott goes and writes this wonderful Silver Surfer that shows what he can do and what he can create. He needs to step off Spider-Man, but he won't as it is his dream job and I wouldnt leave my dream job if I got it.

For me I find the people around Peter to be way more interesting than Peter. I see him as a launching pad for other great characters. I feel the same about Batman, I love his rogues gallery and his bat family way more than him. I dont think I have ever bought a book outside of snyders batman just wanting to read about Batman. I buy it because oh Batgirl is in this with Batman.

I am not trying to be mean. If you like Peter then more power to you. He has stuck around for a long time and will continue to do so.

I know that. Everyone's allowed an opinion and I agree with a lot of what you said to be honest. If Slott wrote Spidey as well as he writes Silver Surfer it would be a great book.

First book since I came back to reading comics. I have read a fair few peter books before and after.

I took a break around the time that Amazing was publishing 3 times a month and came back mid superior. I believe the last thing I read was Gauntlet.

I get where Messi is coming from, but Peter Parker as Spider-Man IS Marvel, he is the closest thing they have to a mascot. You can't have Marvel without Peter, IMO. It would be like Disney without Mickey. Superior was never going to be forever.

The stuff after would have been better if Slott had stepped aside, as he should have. Not that he's terrible, he's just had a long run and it's time for someone else. They will have to carry him out of the Spider-Office in a pine box at this rate.

They just need to give him own book.
He can stay and do his own thing, I am asking myself why they just dont start another Mainbook, it would sell like hotcakes.

Absolutely 100%. I love the fact that people like Peter. I want everyone to enjoy the characters on offer. The rest of the spider people I enjoy don't exist if Peter doesn't.

Maybe he could continue this Renew Your Vows stuff.

Yeah but this is why I hate being loyal to a single character or label. A character will only ever be as good as the person writing him. Each writer establishes the direction they want to take a character in while sort of keeping in line with a legacy the character is known for; but that doesn't always mean it's something I'll like or agree with. That Peter is the mascot of Marvel, as a person who loves to read good comics, is irrelevant to me. He's the Spider-Man I've known all my life, but that doesn't change that Slott has run out of ideas and he's become boring. This is also why it's been so easy for me to turn my back on all these characters (to varying degrees) and explore new labels and characters. I find it more rewarding to follow the creative than it is to stay loyal to a single character.

Just my opinion.

I think we're getting towards that though. Miles is getting his own book in the main Marvel U, and there's also Spidey! from Robbie Thompson and Nick Bradshaw, which I'm definitely going to check out even if it's an all-ages title.

I don't want to go back to the bad old days of Sensational, Spectacular and a bunch of others though. It was really annoying. I'd be all for a return to the Brand New Day format with rotating teams and the book being almost-weekly, so I could dip in and out.

Battleworld is the definition of Too Good to Last. Nearly all the Secret Wars tie-ins I've read have been good. I'd love a Thors ongoing, personally.

Absolutely, but there's something to be said for tradition as well. Personally, I was a big fan of JMS' run, because Peter grew as a character, Aunt May found out about him (one of my all-time favourite issues of ANYTHING), he got a normal job and helped people instead of being Cherry Stark Zero like he is in Slott's run, and he and Mary Jane had a relatively normal relationship until Joe stuck his oar in and we went back to will they, won't they nonsense that nobody who is still reading Spider-Man comics in 2015 really cares about.
