After almost four years of development, we’re proud to finally announce the release date for Apotheon! February 3rd, 2015, for both Steam and Playstation 4. Additionally, Apotheon will be free for the month of February to Playstation Plus members!

The few short delays we’ve had getting Apotheon ready for PS4 has given us a good opportunity for further optimization and playtesting, making Apotheon a better game for everyone. We’re very excited to set it loose it upon the world on February 3rd!

edit:
You can get it from their website with a 10% discount

Too bad I only learned of the game AFTER its 33% discount ended XD.

this includes a DRM-free key

gave away the keys to the kingdom.
FYI, the keys given to Humble for those who bought the game via the official website are tied to the beta testing sub, or at least the first batch were, which means you can play the game now thanks to the release state override.

Finally. They said what the Steam price will be anywhere?

$14.99. You can still pre-order via the official website for 10% off.

The keys via their site are already playable still or were those only for the really early keys?

Edit: NVM saw you said first batch. Dang.

It may just be the first batch. I pre-ordered about a year ago so I assume I would've been among the first group of people to receive a key.

Wonderful art style. Looking forward to it. And the great thing is, it is completely free (on ps4).

It always (slightly) bothers me when people say a game on PS+ is "free".
It' not free, it's priced in the subscription fee you're paying every year. Part of the package is the multiplayer and cloud save stuff, but the downloadable games is as much a part of it as the rest of the features.

Regardless, this looks really cool. I've loved antic Greek culture and mythology ever since childhood so this should be right up my alley.

Yea right but, ps+ is kinda obligatory and subscription fee is reasonable so most of the people like me feel that way. I wouldn't think the same if i were paying, say 150 usd for a year.

Started to play this and I am impressed. It is way more ambitious than I expected. I went in expecting an action platformer with a cool artstyle but it feels more like an action RPG open worldish platformer. And it actually has a really good KBAM control scheme, something I didn't expect.

Really excited to give this a go thanks to PS+! Looks like a great game and, as I said on another thread, it reminds me of Outlast, one of my favorite indie games.

I swear I already posted in this thread..

I saw this a good while ago and then forgot about it. My mate showed me a trailer a few days ago which jogged my memory on it and I was excited for it. I didn't realise how close to lau ching it was which was a ni e surprise. Then I find out it is on PS+ this month which is jist icing on the cake! The art style is awesome.

The trailer in the OP got me excited to play this game; I had watched other trailers and had been lukewarm on it before

Its free since I otherwise would have paid full price for it. Regardless of sub.

I'd go into it not expecting Outlast. It's not nearly as platforming focused as that game was.

Looks great but the combat and jumping look kinda physics-based for the lack of a better word, and therefore really floaty and lacking any weight. Hope it turns out okay.

Will definitely try it out but that art style was already a bit straining on the eyes just in the trailer. I mean I like that style but in paintings. And yeah it looks a little jank, but hey I could definitely be wrong.

looking forward to trying it out. the only thing that bothers me from what i've seen is that the animation looks a little too QWOP-y.

very good game. I appreciate that it respects the source material, even quoting ancient Greek philosophers and poets
Gameplay is good so far, combining exploration and hack and slash.
God of War doesnt hold a candle to it
Artistic direction is unique.

There was another game (on PC and Wii, I want to say) that was inspired by that relief art style from ancient Greek and Roman amphores and column decorations etc.

edit: Nyxquest. I liked that one as well.

I'll be honest here, from the short glimpses in the trailer, the combat and movement doesn't look super great. It has a bit of that newgrounds/kongregate flash game feeling where the characters are animated by moving the individual limbs similar to a marionette (the upper body bending in ridiculous ways not intended to keep up/follow the mouselook). It's hard to describe, but unmistakable and something I've seen in a lot of 2D games that were animated that way.

edit²: reading the thread, I see others have raised similar concerns. Though we all lack the clear terminology to explain what we mean, I think we're talking about the same thing. :D

Hey guys,
I have a Steam key for this game I wanna giveaway on some kind of contest-type thread... But I guess I don't have sufficient privileges to start a thread for some reason. Would anyone be able to help me with starting the thread, and I'll get involved in it and give the key away? I'll even provide you with the text for the thread if you like :)
PM me if you're keen to help!

I just bought this on a whim after seeing the trailer in the OP. I'll be back with impressions.

(Will there be an OT? Is this the OT?)
