They keep upping the sales projections for this album.

it could break Britney's record.

Damn.
Nooooooo I hope not. Loving the album though. Style, blank space and clean are amazing. I hate welcome to New York but the damn thing stuck in my head this morning

You'll love "You are in love". I cried.

New Romantics is a bop.

two of my favorite tracks. although you are in love cheats by channeling that jerry mcguire/secret garden. is it a sample or just a sound a-like? all i can think about when i listen to that is tom cruise telling me that i complete him lol

I just got the deluxe version from Target! $14, couldn't resist. Heard the bonus tracks beforehand and loved them.

I'm going to take a slight guess and say the title of New Romantics is a reference to the '80s UK thing. (New Romanticism)

Or doing your first line of coke.

"He's so tall, and handsome as hell. He's so bad but he does it so well."

Well said Tswift, does your lyrical genius know no bounds?

The bridge to Shake It Off blows my mind with how lyrically bad it is.

"While you've been getting down about all the liars and the dirty-dirty cheats of the world, you could've been getting down to this sick beat:

My ex-man brought his new girlfriend
She's like, 'Oh my God, I'm just gonna shake'"

Grammy's, huh?

First listen and it's all right. I don't really quite love anything, though. I don't know if this would make it into my daily rotation, but it's something along the lines of "wouldn't mind if it came on" (aside from the "ew" tracks).

Might Actually Love:
Clean

Like:
Blank Space
Style
This Love
All You Had to Do Was Stay

Cute/Meh:
Welcome to New York
Out of the Woods
Shake It Off
Wildest Dreams
I Know Places
You Are In Love
New Romantics

Ew:
I Wish You Would
Wonderland
Bad Blood
How You Get the Girl

Her sing-talking delivery gets tiresome after a while, though. For something that's receiving a lot of critical acclaim, I can say for certain that Taylor Swift is mostly not my type of music.

They had the album on most of the night at work earlier.

...it was so fucking bad. I generally love pop music, but Taylor has gone full hot garbage.

People keep talking about the "this, sick, beat" part of Shake It Off as being horrible. That's nothing compared to the last time she says "tight little skirt" in Style. It is like nails on a chalkboard for me for some reason.

That's my main criticism of her as well. Her voice is just okay. Check out Kelly Clarkson's cover of Shake It Off. It's crazy how different a song can sound just by vocal delivery.

What's your 1989 trinity?

Mine is Blank Space, Style & Clean. They're perfect pop songs

Shout out to "I Wish You Would". That one is also fantastic.

Style, Out of the Woods and Wildest Dreams. I love the production on Style and Out of the Woods. Wildest Dreams sounds like Lana Del Rey and that suits Taylor well.

That's a bit of an unfair comparison. Kelly Clarkson has one of the best voices of her generation. Swift has always been a songwriter first, singer second.

It reminds me a lot of Katy Perry's Prism, except a bit better.

But that's not a good thing.

It's not bad, it's just not as enjoyable to me as her other albums, especially after coming from the perfect blend of production and Taylor Swift that was Red.

Almost every song is catchy as hell regardless of whether it's actually good or not. There's barely any ballads though.

Best tracks:

This Love
Wildest Dreams
Wonderland
Blank Space
Clean

Taylor was just talking about it in an interview saying it's not serious I'm he least and thinks people are completely missing the point.

Taylor is the awkward teenage girl who never elected to grow up. Think of her as that when you listen to her stuff. She's Peter Pan with waifish Bayonetta legs.

god this album is near perfection. sadly don't like all the songs in the album (welcome to new york, all you had to do was stay, i wish you would and how you get a girl)

they aren't bad pop songs.. they just aren't on par imo to the other songs in this album
