Super Smash Bros. for 3DS |OT2| Nintendo All-Stars Battle Quarter Pounder

Probably a dumb question to ask in this thread but would you say this game is worth it? I played the full game and while it's fun, I can't seem to find myself playing this game for that long of a time compared to other games like Mario Kart or Zelda. The main selling point to me is probably playing on the same screen with friends yelling at each other. However, it is still Smash Bros on the go and the online mode doesn't seem to be that laggy from what I tried.

I wish ZSS short hop wasn't so high. It's so bad. Makes her good aerials less useful.

Also is there a way to stall her DAir? I swear I've seen a couple people do it online.

Ugh the game feels really small compared to brawl.

No target smash was a huge wtf for me.

And they ruined King Dee Dee Dee
Yeah, some of the missing modes do make it feel kinda barebones. But the roster does feel huge compared to any other Smash, so there's that.

I don't know why they would get rid of Dedede's bair and dtilt. Why. And without chaingrabs... eh. His new side B is interesting though. You can send the Gordo out at different speeds/trajectories, and it's pretty strong. They can hit it back at you though. x.x Also ftilt still seems pretty good for spacing.

Her dair makes you go down really quickly, right? If it's like Sheik's, it stalls when you already have a good bit of upward velocity from getting hit.

So anyone found any interesting bugs yet? 2 huge ones that stick out like a sore thumb I have found:

1. Bowser Jrs Smash doesn't always launch them, they just fall out of it. Easy to replicate in Home run contest.
2. Target blast seems to have a bug where smashes wont launch the bomb, twice I did the mode where forward smashes would not launch it.

When people barely win, and then quit.

-_-

Gotta find an easier opponent, can't risk lowering those stats!

To be honest I'm not sure how I feel about stats. I wish there was a For Glory 1v1 mode where stats weren't recorded so you'd be able to practice characters in a competitive setting without people switching out to Little Mac when they lose and stuff.

Baiting Mac players at the edge really does work. Holy shit. :lol

I am loving Charizard. I played one game against a Sonic player; he put on roughly 120% damage onto me before I managed to get in any hits besides one Flare Blitz. Four hits from me later, he was down one stock. Managed to take out his other stock whilst only taking 26% more damage.

He's a fucking monster.

This is an excellent game. I had some buyer's remorse initially, but now that I've gotten into this endless loop of unlocking stuff it's becoming addictive.

Not sure why the disappointment over single player content. I think it's the best offering in the series to date, especially with all the custom moves driving you to keep playing. I haven't even tried half the roster yet.

And the worst thing is - you cannot see it in the menu which characters haven't actually won yet. So I'm refraining myself from playing any multiplayer Smash Run before I got first with every character. Then I can just play for fun v.v

You can see it in fighter records.

Also, I dont buy the 10 item limit, there's no way that's true.

I don't understand why people wouldn't quit out regularly to try taking on new people. I don't play online to fight a specific random person all night, I want to test myself against a spectrum. See how different people play, fight some tough ones, some easy ones, etc.

Anyone have any long term community goals? I'm really liking Palutena. Therefore I want the best Palutena in the community. At least within SmashGAF.

2294-5068-9727 for matches.

Playing against the same person for a while helps you adapt and practice more than if you were playing against different people all the time.

It is good to get a variety. But it's also fun to play against one person long enough for both of you to have more chances to adapt. And more than that, if I'm playing someone better than me, I'll want to keep playing them as much as I can.

Don't understand the D3 complaints. Smash 4 basically made him a fundamentally sound character without the use of a interplay poor tech (chain grabbing). The new d-tilt lets him keep up pressure. New f-smash doesn't have that terrible sweet spot on it anymore. Now he has a projectile to fear and not one of mild annoyance. You can follow up from short hop newches. Great great changes.

Not really. I always thought "I'm the best whatever in the state/region/country" was like the lamest "accomplishment" lol. Not exactly a good icebreaker.

I honestly haven't messed with him much, so I only have first glance style impressions. But his aerials felt... smaller? The dtilt seemed really punishable when I looked at it, but I was probably mistaken. What was the sweet spot on the Fsmash like before?

I do like the new projectile overall. And nair does seem like what it should have been in the past, so that is good.

I actually dont mind losing to really high level players. It's a great experience. Swallowing your pride, taking the lose and learning from your mistakes will make you better. It's the only way to get better in anything competitive. Gears and Smash are the only competitive games I play really...

Anyway, I played against an incredibly talented Bowser player last night. I finally met an opponent I couldn't beat. This person simply outplayed and out zoned me every single time. He or she knew what to do in every situation. Our matches were close, but I never was able to pull through.

I don't mind the loses though. I learned so much from those matches and I can now fine tune subtle movements and timing I never thought were ever important. Those are the loses I can tolerate, the loses in which someone was legitimately more skilled. I can't stand those who hide, run away or turtle. It's infuriating to someone like me who is very aggressive and has a rush down play style. I mean, just play the damn game and stop fucking around. The Bowser I faced was equally if not more aggressive, yet very patient.

It's matches like the ones from last night that bring me back to the days when I would practice for tournaments, hours on end with people who were far more skilled. Over time I got up to their level and even surpassed a few. I want to go back to that time so much.

Long term goal is to consistently beat your Palutena forever. :P

Nah, actual long term goal for me with this game (well, the Wii U version) is to consistently win a few matches at locals, hopefully placing top 12 or so. Basically I just want to reach the point where I'm mediocre at this game and the other Smash games.

GG's for sure, Yoshi is amazing holy shit. You've picked him up quick. I don't know what happened at that last stock there! arg

I think my hand's finally starting to get a cramp....dammit...
Yoshi is safe as hell with so much options. He's super good in this game, and actually fun this time lol.

Are you suggesting that playing aggressively is the only way to play skillfully? Because if keep away gets you that frustrated, it probably makes you make mistakes. It would be pretty smart for someone to play against you that way.

Can you not save replays of With Friends games online? Didn't see any option anywhere.
You can. At the results hit A. Might need to hit it twice. Anyway, after that you should see at the bottom the Y button beside "save replay" or something.

Took me 3 or four matches to find it. Didn't manage to save my first Smash 4 battle from the midnight release. ;__;

Yeah, I feel the same way.

I'd rather jot down notes on why I lost in an attempt to improve, rather than give up and complain about this or that.

In other words: No Johns.

I want to be the best Dunck Hunt player in SmashGAF.

I dunno since there are a quite list for people who want to claim that position. I'm not arrogant enough to declare yet. :P
I suck right now because I was focusing too much on single content but I started playing online lately.

Anyone know any good characters and custom setups to use in order to beat 9.0 Classic?

It blew my mind to see All Stars gives out alternate trophies too.

A lot to do, I guess!

Charizard is a good one as well with no customs or equipment. Rock Smash destroys Master Core.
Beat 9.0 on my first try with Charizard, first day.

Nothing wrong with that. Competition helps me play better. I remember having a long rivalry with a neighbor growing up in pretty much everything we played. So many good memories.

Bring it! I need to start adding everyone's FC once I get back home.

I was hoping Heath would step up after seeing that. How do you feel about DH now that you got the game in your hands for a few days?
