People complain about Little Mac in For Glory. Lucario is the most bullshit fucking character in that mode. Can't kill anyone because of way too large blast zones, he just gets high percent and then can cover half the stage with side B or his ball. Oh want to punish him off stage? Too bad he can land anywhere with his range. What a dumb character.

Oh my jeeeeez Lucario makes me so salty. The whole notion of getting better for losing is just really dumb. Sure, it means you're on the edge the whole time you're powerful, but it also means being rewarded for doing poorly.

I know this is from a few pages back, but it echoes my hatred so much.

On another note, lol at less-than-a-month tier lists. I can understand people having a general idea of who's "the best", but a whole list is silly.

Shield stance shulk is so good for cruel smash.

Played some online, not too awful. Jigglypuff is kicking my ass though, it's hard to zone her out when it's laggy and she's constantly spamming aerials. Though Toon Link did seem effective against everyone else at least.

My god. After I figured out that advanced thunder fast roll tech my win rate as Robin jumped from 68% to 80%.

Took me a while but I can finally incorporate it in normal play.

The next step is to understand exactly when Robin's items fall off so I can grab them and aim for that 85% rate.

I love this char, he has very weak stats overall but his multitude of tools and the wide range of options he has really feels like "tactician play".

And it does remind me how much Olimar sucks in this game. Guy used to be B tier in brawl, but he is clearly D tier here.
Used to be B-tier a long, long time ago maybe. Right now he's third under Meta Knight and Ice Climbers. Unless you want to count anything beneath those two broken characters as being B-tier.

Yep, that works... against bad Little Mac players, that is.

Good Litlte Mac players will just kick your ass if you try that.

Yeah, it's a pretty telegraphed strategy, but if someone is going to let me do that to them, I'm going to take it.

I haven't seen a good Mac on For Glory yet, but I'm looking forward to getting destroyed by one at some point.

Guys I am in desperate need of tips for Shulk. Sometimes when i play as him he clicks for me in a match (against lvl 9 cpus...) but i feel like I'm not using his tools right. Any suggestions are welcomed.

I've been putting in a lot of time with Shulk - he's fast becoming my new secondary - so here are a few tips.

- Learn what the Monado Arts are and when to use them. The two most important ones, IMO, are Buster and Smash. Buster increases the damage you give and receive and decreases knockback, so use it when your opponent is at low percents and you need to rack up damage. I usually start matches in Buster. Smash increases the knockback you give and receive in exchange for less damage, so use it when your opponent is at high percents. I usually switch to Smash once my opponent is around 80%.
- Learn the order in which the Monado Arts cycle: Jump, Speed, Shield, Buster, Smash. You need to be able to switch Arts at a moment's notice throughout the match, and you don't have time to slowly cycle through until you find the one you like. It needs to be muscle memory - e.g., you need to know that four quick taps of B will activate Buster.
- A lot of Shulk's attacks are either long, sweeping arcs or long-ranged thrusts. These thrusts (forward and up smashes, back, up, and down airs,) are generally more powerful, but the hit boxes are much narrower, so make sure you're lined up with your opponent before you use them. Otherwise, use the arcing attacks (forward and neutral airs, up and forward tilts.)
- When using Air Slash (up B,) press B again after the first swing to do a second swing. It's a decent attack, and because it has such great range, it's good for preventing your opponent from edgeguarding you.
- Don't spam Vision (counter move, down B.) Save it for when you're about to get hit with a big attack. If you're in Smash mode, it can even be a KO move.

The actual way this presumably works out in For Glory is, you stand in the zone near the edge, Little Mac runs to the opposite side edge so he's safely out of projectile range, and you both wait. Little Mac is too smart to run up to you, and you're too smart to enter the center of the stage.

After 5 minutes of both players standing still, the game is decided by Sudden Death.

For those who have tried the For Glory mode, which characters give you headaches? As in, matchups that you are constantly or most of the time losing.

Playing against ZSS is one. I only have won like two times in several tries against ZSS.

Another one is Rosalina. Only won twice in more or less 10 tries against her.

Greeninja players; they are pretty cocky against slow characters and they have the speed and power to back it up. Plus their UpB is bullshit.

Luma blocking my hits gets pretty tedious after a while. Rosalina hasn't been too bad for me aside from that. Lucario, Greninja, Zero Suit Samus, and Little Mac have been giving me a lot of trouble.

I beat ZSS with Falco. My Robin struggles against her.

ZSS, Shiek, Falcon, Yoshi(occasionally), Jigglypuff, (Dark)Pit, Sonic, and Marth. I'm not well prepared to battle fast characters and sword users.

So after a little more messing around and some more wins/losses in For Glory mode, I've realized Wii Fit Trainer is pretty damn awesome. I really like her move set, even though Deep Breathing hasn't really paid off for me. But my favorite moment so far was spiking a soccer ball into an opponent Ness's face as he was coming at me with a PK Thunder 2. When I play with Mega Man, Bowser Jr., WFT, and Little Mac I manage to hold my own against good players, and usually crush mediocre to bad ones (although my fighting game weakness of not being able to deal with spammers still haunts me in Smash).

I'm actually getting a better win % with Bowser Jr. than Mega Man, mostly because he has such a wide variety of moves for zoning/spacing/level control. Also it seems a lot of people must not fight Bowser Jr. that much, because I get them unaware with some pretty simple moves. Also, I like to live dangerously and drop the Clown Car on unsuspecting people trying to set up an up smash, and if I get the angle right exploding Clown Car into aerial hammer pretty much guarantees they're not ever going to wait under me again. Actually, the up-B is great for ledge defense as well: I beat a Ness because he was trying to PK Thunder back to the ledge, but I dropped the Clown Car right in his way so he had to angle it in such a way that he couldn't make it back unless he was going to go right into the explosion.

I'm having trouble with my previous mains from Brawl. Falco and Lucario just aren't doing it for me at the moment. They're both passable, but I get knocked around a shit-ton as Lucario, and the only thing that's really been saving me (if I manage to save myself at all) is how buffed his aura damage is this game. As long as I can stay alive at 100%+ for a little while, I can kick some ass. But against Little Macs I can't do anything, just because I'm dead before I can take advantage of the power level. I also want to get good with Duck Hunt, but I can't seem to get a handle on the right strategy of using the explosive + what his kill moves are. I'm also trying out Greninja, who I really like but I also can't figure out proper kill strategies and have accidentally suicided myself by sticking to the wall at inopportune times.

If I had to rank my five favorite newcomers to play with right now, they'd probably be:

1. Bowser Jr. (Online W/L record 12-11)
2. Mega Man (Online W/L record 11-17)
3. Wii Fit Trainer
4. Duck Hunt (even though I'm terrible as him)
5. Little Mac

That would actually probably be my overall list too at the moment, although I really need to experiment more with Falco, Lucario, Luigi, Sheik, Jigglypuff and Ness (as a substitute for Lucas) to see if I can still kick ass with them like I did in Brawl.

For those trying to beat Master Core at 9.0, Mega Man's up air seems to be devastating against it. I lost to him in 9.0 so I tried spamming it in 8.5, and it would run through each of his forms in about 15 seconds. Gonna try it again on 9.0 later today.

Have you not played Melee or Brawl and unlocked all the characters?

yes, but I unlocked all characters yesterday, and wondered why it hadnt changed

I could swear I did nothing new today

maybe you had to restart the game? I'd been on sleep mode since release

I dont understand why one of my challenges isnt being unlocked. It says to Create 10 custom characters in custom. Ive created 10 custom characters and 10 custom Miis. Anyone know whats going on?

I primarily use ZSS online. Lucario has given me trouble with his aura-enhanced recovery and his ability to counter.

Counter users in general can be tricky for a rushdown character like ZSS. Shulk, especially, gave me trouble with his counter.

I have to totally agree man. I played against a Lucario player yesterday for a good number of matches and his friggin side B was so annoying. I spent most of the time trying to figure out how to punish that crap with Lucina because I KNEW it was coming. I still beat him a few times though but that was pretty frustrating.

Sheik is a big one. She's so fast and powerful, with a few solid projectiles, that my Luigi and Shulk just can't keep up. I think I've lost to every (decent) Sheik I've encountered.

Duck Hunt, too. Trick Shots and Clay Pigeons everywhere. Make it stop.

I also had a bad experience with a Yoshi earlier today. Holy egg spam, Batman!

Anyone wanna play my Lucario for a quick three matches or so (and critique)? Quote to reveal my FC:

Force Palm is *GODLY* for spacing at high percents.

ZSS gives me a lot of trouble. Good Little Macs give me trouble, but bad ones I can usually bait into suiciding at least once. I also played against one Zelda who was super good and basically shut down every strategy I had, but it's the only Zelda I've faced so I don't know if it's just that player was really good, or if Zelda's gonna be my bane.

Kirby, Dark Pit, Good Falcons who gimp me. There are probably more, hah. I'm not use to playing against more than half of these characters yet.

:/ trust me I know. lol.

Good games!

You're a beast, but I at least got lucky and took a few games off of you. That hydrant is really hard to deal with. o.o

good games! I guess the game was telling us to stop playing with that disconnect haha.

You're shiek is really good espiecially at the edge. Had a hard time getting back on stage >.<
