Yoshi is a joy to play in this game. Everything about him is so punchy, so snappy. Cutest he's been since Yoshi's Story, as well. :-)

Yeah something about Yoshi in this game really appeals to me.

DK and Bowser are my guys for life. I want to get good at Chirazard, somewhat but I'm just not feeling him. I look at Yoshi however and he just looks so fun and with his colored eggs it looks like heaven. Bowser Jr has been really appealing to me so far as well.

Maybe I will just bite the bullet and have Yoshi and Jr as my back ups when I can't be projectile heavy guys with my biggies. But man if Ridley and Dixie get announced later I don't know what I'll do.

64: No one really. I had to do soul searching to figure out my man. I lost like every game back then in my circle of friends.

Melee: Mewtwo and Bowser. Lost like crazy because I didn't understand spacing/tilts but I loved them both.

Brawl: DK and Bowser. By this point I was determined to get good and good I did get despite chain grabs ruining a lot of my fun. For some reason I realized how much I loved Donkey Kong only after Brawl came out. If I could go back in time I would tell me 13 year old self to pick DK forever and ever.

So much love for new Yoshi yet I don't dig it at all, Melee Yoshi was like a hidden heavyweight with brutal dino headbutts.
Now he's an overgrown newt that trades in headbutts for mere kicks, kicks I tell ya!
I can't accept this, I don't care how much better he actually is now.

Though I'm indifferent to the character these days anyway so whatever I guess, at least Purple Yoshi of the Athletic Stages is selectable.

Dark Pit also got his own Victory Theme

His jingle and Shulk's as well for that matter make victory around 50% more satisfying than other characters.

How does Yoshi wreck Duck Hunt? Does the Egg Roll have priority over the can/clay pigeon/Wild Gunman?
Egg Toss completely negates all three projectiles, and Yoshi's jump armor limits their effectiveness for recovery gimping as well. Only way I've semi-reliably beaten Yoshi with DH is lucky on-stage projectile hits and good tilts.

Getting kinda tired of all these Little Macs on 1v1. I know ledge guarding and knock him into the air is main strategy against him but the people who use him know that and compensate for that weakness. His counter also pisses me off.

Plz don't tell me has become the new Fox.

Mains:

Super Smash Bros 64: I was like 5 when this game out, so none
Melee: Samus/Jigglypuff
Brawl: Pokemon Trainer (sigh)/Pit
SSB4: Hard to tell so far, but really liking Jigglypuff again in this game. Rollout is back to being a Sudden Death devastator.

I tend to play everyone as much as possible, but this game I seem to trend towards picking Bowser Jr or Medium Size Mii Brawler (with the Mech costume). My most played character is Little Mac, stat wise, but mostly because he was really easy to get some of the earlier challenges and unlockable characters. He's fun, but too overused for me.

no, you actually have to be really good to be the new Fox (besides Meta Knight is a better comparison anyway)

If this game has a message system like PSN and Xbox Live, how many angry messages would you guys received? I think I would have received a lot from little Mac players considering everyone is playing him and he so easy to kick off stage and keep him there.

Might have got 5 or so. Three people rage quit against me so far

So I thought I'd try some For Fun online matches.

Good God was the lag awful. I'm talking loading icons during the match. Worst thing is that it still records the stats despite it being a For Fun match (they said the whole point of this mode was for stats not to be recorded :/). That wasn't a match, that was a slideshow.

But it's probably best to approach with grabs. Dash attack mayyyyybe if you space it? In general I'm thinking don't full out approach most of the time. You have to get close enough to make them uncomfortable though, because you don't have a projectile. So probably run in, shield (and spot dodge if you think they'll grab), and try to play keep away and retain stage control. I'm guessing down tilt is still pretty safe? Retreating fair, ftilt, full hop fair if they jump etc. And uair seems like it's a really good move. Get them above you and try not to let them land.

Edit: That got longer and rantier than I hoped. Again, I don't really know what I'm talking about. Hopefully something in there is worth your time to try out.

Don't worry about the length, I'm up to reading SmashBoards posts haha. Knowledgeable or not, there's a few things you said that are good reminders. Like down tilt being a thing... Whoops.

This is all so different from my Brawl Marth with his double forward airs in one short hop. D:

I've never thought of dittos as being indicative of who is better with a character, just who is better at that matchup. I'd prob go some other characters against your ness to really see how it's doing.
Ah, I misunderstood. Well, it's still a rather rough Ness (pun not intended) I have here. I'm looking into Ness because I think he stands a better chance against the infinite Little Macs than Palutena and Zelda do. But he seems fun enough to not just be a counterpick. But when I took him online I got destroyed. Ah well, practice, practice, practice. It's easy to recover when it's just a CPU opponent and no lag. It's hard when there's a real person bearing down on you and a little delay. I had two SDs from input error. Such is the life of Smash. I might be up for getting the rough edges pointed out on my Ness, though. He IS fun.

My friend code is 2621-259-3722. PM me if you add me. I'm not very good at this game yet.

On the bright side, I got my first rage quit win! After having my Ness die in a hail of arrows and boomerangs from a Link, I counterpicked Palutena, only to have the Link player not show up. Instead someone else brought in a Samus. ...yeah. Two reflected fully charged Power Beams later and they just jumped off the the stage twice. Success? That really is one ugly matchup in Palutena's favor, anyway. One move that counters nearly all of Samus' arsenal. How would you even fight Palutena as Samus, anyway?

Mains:

64: Samus
Melee: Pichu
Brawl: Ganondorf

WHY DOES SMASH HATE ME

I'm going to warn you all right now, whatever I main in Smash 4 is immediately going to be bottom-tier.

I can understand Online lag, but the Local lag is both bizarre and honestly unacceptable. Interfering wireless signals? Wireless signals are everywhere.
Yeah, it is very odd. The funny thing it works great where the Wifi sucks. You would think Namco would code around interference.

I play Marth in Melee and PM... even though his Brawl/4 iterations are closer than most veterans are to their old selves, I still can't play him in the newer games. When I'm running that moveset, it's hard to fight the instinct to DD grab, JC grab, shffl, etc. Though playing on a 3DS helps me not think of those habits as much. The subtle changes from Brawl > 4 are aggravating too, especially not being able to sh double fair.

Dtilt is indeed a thing though, I suppose. Dtilt is love, dtilt is life. :D

I just unlocked the cast of Breaking Bad:

I'm fairly certain I saw the new Yoshi meteor-smashing with an aerial headbutt. Can anyone confirm this?

I've only played with Shulk like three times but he seems kinda complicated. Not sure what his neutral B is doing. lol
The colors are foggy too me, but I think:
Green is jump
Blue is speed
Yellow is defense
Purple is damage
Red is knock back

All of them have some drawback also. I usually stick to purple when opponent is at low percent, then red when they're at kill percent. Yellow occasionally if I'm barely hanging on. The other never. But I'm not a Shulk player.

Just played solo Smash Run for the first time. I have to say this mode is rather frustrating to me. Almost like Mario Kart 8-150cc-CPU-cheating-AIs-BS level of frustrating ! A bunch of enemies and random things happening during the initial 5 minutes that I have no idea what's going on. Then the final stage may or may not be an actual fight. So, if I happen to have collected a bunch of Defense or whatever earlier on, it's useless if the final stage is about rushing up the tower. Even if it does end up being a fight, it may have some obscure rule that makes the fight harder :( I must suck really hard at this game... haha

Jump (green) is good for recovery if you get fast enough at changing your stance, since you can do it mid air.

Speed (blue) is helpful when you need to do quick approaches and dash attacks or want to catch your opponent off guard.
