so it's been 3 days now and I still have not been able to play a single game online. The error code I get seems to indicate that my 3DS can't connect to my router, but that's obviously bullshit because I had to download an update for my 3DS, and then an update for Smash Bros itself before I could play single player.

New players forget they have them, and serious players (mostly) don't use them because the reward often isn't worth the risk. Sure, everyone remembers the time they countered Bowser's fully charged forward smash and won the match off of it, but people seem to forget every other time that they whiffed their counter and got blown up for it.

I'd imagine so many counters are in the game for the same reason so many characters have down-b specials that plummet them down extremely fast. It's easier to just increment on a move and slightly tweak it than it is to come up with something interesting and different. It just sucks that the developers chose two of the most useless moves to xerox on to huge portions of the cast.

Yeah I don't get it. Also just remembered Greninja has a counter as well. Just why?
 
Looking for some for fun matches, my friend code is 1349-7097-9961, first time playing "with friends" matches so I dunno what I gotta do lol, first add to friend list and then go into smash?
 
Are we sure Puff's UAir -> Rest is guaranteed at certain percents? I feel if it is possible, it's too specific to be useful, but mostly I'm finding that there isn't enough hitstun out of UAir, so you can almost always be air dodged and punished.

Looking for some wisdom from someone who knows the character, unlike myself.
 
@spinosaurus,romancedawn: hey sorry about making one of the matches go no contest if that happened :( I just wanted to quit out of the game since I noticed it was lagging and in case I was contributing to the lag. I didn't realize it would end the whole thing.

Greninja's counter has tons of knockback, but it can totally whiff even when you activate it. Best kill I've gotten with it was when I threw a fully charged shuriken at the substitute doll, which caused it to fly over the edge and spike the opponent.
 
I don't know if Shulk is bad, but it feels like you have to work a lot harder to win with him than you do with most characters. Also his voice is obnoxious.
 
So uh... pro tip for those still unlocking characters.

In the dedicated customization menu, every time you enter a Mii's customization screen (where you'd select clothes and equipment and all that) it counts as one game. So you can just select a mii, exit, select the same mii over and over again 120 times to rack up games then just suicide a 1 stock game with a cpu to trigger the challenger approachings.

I've noticed that there are a lot of Little Mac users online. If someone uses Little Mac for more then 2-3 rounds, I use Toon Link until they stop using him. It's nearly impossible for Little Mac to fight in an arena that is clogged with bombs and boomerangs, so I win most of the time.


On a separate note, is someone compiling a list of friend codes for SmashGAF? If so, mine is 4167-4587-6299 .

worst counter in the game imo. Feels slower than Marth's counter, timing it right is really difficult and worse you can apparently shield it. I never use it. The exploding custom move could be alright

Greninja's sideB is of limited use to me as well. I never try it more than two or three times in a match when the opponent is at high%

what also annoys me is that Rosalina, my second main, has two rather useless specials too (imo)
 
My battery is dead, and I was having a fun battle online =/
Freaking charger is broken or somehting it will only recharge my 3ds when it is off. and no it's not the 3ds itself as my friend's charger works just fine on my 3ds. It's so weird

Little Macs everywhere.

Also, did people find some new combo with Dorf recently?I've been spammed with the same dthrow dtilt in so many games...maybe is side b instead of dthrow. I don't play ganondorf.

Anyway, people seem to be doing the same combo moves over and over in For Glory. At first it was annoying, but now I can instantly recognize it and punish.
 
Colossal added you back but you appper offline , how does this work lol? First time I add someone on the 3ds
Profile name is Cesar colosal the room appears but says friend request is pending, don't know what does that mean
 
I thought you had to complete a Challenge Board to get the next one?

I just got Board #3, and still have stuff left on #2.
