What's the best way to get the three custom outfit challenge? I want to unlock a new board of challenges.

I get a bunch of custom outfits whenever I play Smash Run, so try that.

Ok, so I've filled up the first wall of challenges except for two - collect three types of custom equipment and unlock the hidden character ???. I also have three golden hammers - I assume I should keep these for the really hard challenges and not use them for the first set of challenges.

How do you unlock custom equipment? I figure I'll unlock most of the characters just playing VS stock matches.

Also, can you really not have shield on both L and R, and grab on Y? That's kinda annoying.

You get 3 hammers per challenge wall now.

Do they carry over for each wall? I might just play Smash Run more for the custom equipment/outfits one, unless they don't carry over in which case I can use the golden hammers now.

I'm trying to "100%" this game as much as possible before the Wii U version comes out, and my twisted definition of 100% means that I want to complete the hardest challenges with all the characters. So I'd want to finish Classic on 9.0 with all characters, and All-Star on Hard, etc.

I was going about getting 600m on Home Run Contest with everyone and noticed that the hardest Home Run challenge is actually 1000m. I swear that 1000m is impossible for some characters. I've only managed it with Ganondorf so far. Anyone managed 1000m+ (ofr whatever it is in ft for America), and with which characters?

OMFG. Shulk's counter is too OP.

If level 9 Shulk is playing against heavy hitters like Ike or Bowser, you're gone in at least 4 counters. Nevermind the Monado buffs. I've never seen a level 9 3-stock me like that. :cries: When I was Bowser, EVERY SINGLE one of my moves was met with counter. Only thing I could do to win was Side-B Bowsercide.

Aaaaaah been busy all weekend. Literally got to play for like half an hour on Friday. Now I discover I have Sunday off work, and a fully charged 3DS.

I'm gonna wreck it.

Got a Martial Arts Uniform in classic.

Died against Metal Dark Pit.

Game picks the outfit for me to lose.

This is the second time this has happened.

I'm never getting this challenge done.

Fuck this game.

Yeah, I'm stuck on the "get three outfits" challenge, too. Once it's completed, I'll finally have the second board open, and unlock Flat Land 2 in the process.

I just want to say I rrreeeeaaallly hate the INSULT from Sakurai of FORCING you to drop the intensity if you continue. There are far too many bullshit ways of accidentally dying because you can't see shit for the difficulty level to certainly be the reason you lost every single time. Go ahead and drop my points, lose some items, whatever, but I chose the difficulty level for a reason and I'd like to keep it.

Umm, but Sheik is playing pretend ninja.

Goood morniiing my fellow smash bros.

I feel relatively comfortable with Lucina now. I'm by no means good, but I'm holding my own (and winning!) a fair share of For Fun matches with her so I don't totally suck, and I don't see myself getting competative so this is fine for me.

Anyway, the problem is is that she's the only character I'm good with. As soon as I switch to someone else, I get bodied by everyone. As someone who enjoys Lucina, who would be another character to have a bash at? I feel like I want to learn Robin (FE:A <3) but I just cannot wrap my head around his play style. I did main Sonic in Brawl, but I was about 12 years old then so I had no idea what I was doing, lol. Might give him another go.

I love Lucina's play style so my other picks might suit you.

Zero Suit Samus and (Dark) Pit are who I use most. Link, Greninja and Bowser also a little bit.

I'm playing through classic as Bowser for the fifth time because I keep dying trying to get Bowser Jr :p

That's the whole point of the Intensity system. Risk/reward.

So will the Wii U version have different unlocks? Re unlocking pretty much all the same stuff the same way might kind of suck.

I know the stages are different but are the trophies exactly the same?

The risk/reward can be with the points and items and gold. I don't remember Kid Icarus forcing me to downgrade. It just suggests it, and if you fail too much you lose the resources required to keep attempting at that level. It actually lets you have some dignity of tenacity at trying the same challenge. 1000x superior to this.

It 100% did.

Do I need to go test this right now? I'm nearly certain you can go back to the main menu and have a go at the level at whatever intensity you want. Maybe it is only for levels you have already beat, because replays of levels are where I messed with it more. But if you're right and it forces the downgrade on you, I don't understand how that is risk/reward. It's just insulting bullshit.

Kid Icarus also did it.

You can go back to the main menu and play classic at whatever intensity you want as well. The entire classic mode works the same as a single stage in KI.

Damn, Mii is such a FUN character to play as!

Mii Brawler is insane. Such a shame we can't use them online, but it makes sense as to why.

So question for the day SmashGAF, now that we've had two days with the game (or more if you imported the game back when it came out in Japan), which one of the newcomers did you expect to like the most and which one did you actually end up with? Hell going the extra mile how would you rank them all then vs. now?

I was expecting to main Wii Fit Trainer since I loved her acrobatic moves but out of all the newcomers I think I ended up liking Mii Brawler and Greninja the most. I'm actually kind of surprised how fun the former is. Truth be told I'm not really playing a lot of the newcomers as much as I was expecting due to how some other characters got buffed so much to the point that they're basically newcomers in and of themselves.

Found some miis online

The Mii is great. Already loved Villager from the Demo. I argued for Dark Pit, so it's disappointing that they didn't take the opportunity to use more of the 100+ Uprising weapons to create a unique moveset for him.

STILL NEED TO UNLOCK DUCK HUNT :(

Off-topic but thanks to taking over 3 years to register my 3DS along with this game, I can get a free game from Club Nintendo. Any suggestions between these?

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate
Kirby: Triple Deluxe
Yoshi's New Island (I can already guess lol)
Mario Party: Island Tour
Mario Golf: World Tour
Pokemon: Art Academy

I have the original 3DS not an XL so I'm not sure if that makes a difference or not with games like Monster Hunter. Didn't put ALBW down because I already have it.

Weird. Been playing at my own pace without trying to get all the characters and I ended up unlocking the last three in Smash within a couple of round of one another. We really need the criteria for unlocking the character to be officially revealed because most of it seems pretty random apart from Wario and 100 Mii Smash.

By actually being one fully trained in the secret arts of the order in their protection.

I'm not, like, involved in this Greninja and Sheik weird ninja war, but nowhere in Zelda does it ever imply Sheik is anything more than in disguise. In OoT Sheik is simply Zelda in disguise, no further implications or background is given.

So for the sake of argument, based on information we actually have, Sheik is a pretend Ninja.
