Not sure I can explain it, but as someone who hasn't really gotten into Smash games before, I'm still really excited to play this one. Something about it being on a handheld makes it so much more appealing to me for some reason. Can't wait till Friday.

I dunno why, but I think it would be hilarious if the Wii U version comes out and it turns out that there have been character balances changes or differences in physics that render all our play time on the 3DS version moot. I dunno, just a funny though.

Playing the 3DS demo, as good as it is, really makes me miss the C stick though.

That would be hilarious.....but it would also make absolutely no sense.

Different physics would make no sense, but it would be a great opportunity for character rebalancing.

Unfortunately though, everything we learn about the games will probably be invalidated every few months with incessant balance patches anyway. :\
 
I would suggest not suiciding when unlocking characters as there are challenges for getting KOs, might as well set damage to 2.0 and KO the cpu which takes five seconds anyway.

I'm a little doubtful that Smash will wind up being patched that much unless there's a demonstrably broken character that's actively being considered preferable over most of the others.

So, is it really true that local multiplayer VS matches don't actually count towards unlocking characters? I remember someone mentioning that in the japanese release, but don't know if it's real or not.

I don't know about that, but I know for a fact that Wifi matches count (however, you won't get the challenger approaching thing between these matches).
 
I really hope local play unlocks characters.. I don't like force-unlocking them. I'd prefer the natural progression of unlocking characters with my roommate

I didn't? Well, let me fix that! Haha, sorry, friend codes are so frustrating to handle; I wish it just worked liked the Wii U's system of alerting you when someone has added you.

It does count towards them. To actually unlock them you need to battle against CPU though.
 
So I played it yesterday for 3 hours straight and that game is awesome as shit

Tried almost everything (no online yet) and I must say Sakurai made sure it suits the 3DS well.

The stages are well picked for the 3DS and Classic and Allstar mode are good for a short burst on the go. Only played one Smash Run but it was fun too :D

This game will keep me hooked until Mario Kart 8 DLC and Smash Wii U comes out :D

I dont really think that there is a need to be...cause the 3DS version isnt packed with incredible deep content, but playing Allstar or Classic or Smash Run is fun even if you can rush through it very quickly :-)

Nintendo tried to fit the Smash formula on a handheld which many people use on the go, so it makes sense to make the modes short...
 
Is there any way to add exact funds on the eshop before the release? I have $5 sitting on there now.

Also, what's the cost on the Canadian eshop going to be, with tax?
 
The more I play it the more I realize that games like Smash Bros should not be at home on handhelds because of tiny screens with low resolution.

I love the game to death (already unlocked
Superior FoxFalco
,
Fartman Wario
and
my little darling Ness
) but still. It just...doesn't feel right on a handheld.

Put several hours into it and thanks to GERMANY, FUCK YEAH I have a long weekend where I will probably play several (10+) hours a day and I WILL get all the trophies, challenges, fighters, equipment stuffs and whatnot.
But it doesn't feel right.

That said I'm way more hyped for the Wii U version now.

Also I need ALL YOUR FRIEND-CODES because I need to defeat every single one of you!
