Seeing that name pop up this morning was a bit or a surprise honestly.
Really?

I thought there were rumours about young 'guests' of his going back years. Maybe I'm thinking of someone else.

None of the accused have surprised me yet. In fact, if they're over 60 and have worked for the BBC, they can all go in the 'not shocked' pile. Except Russ Abbott. I wouldn't see that one coming.

The one thing I've always wondered about those who have been convicted or shown to be guilty is, were they just paedophiles who became famous and used the power that comes with fame to sexually abuse young people, or did they just become famous and then turned to abusing young people simply because... they could?

There were rumours swirling around Richard as he never married, some that he was gay and ashamed/trying to hide it, I believed that really so didn't even think of linking him to children. Just thought he was probably gay and wanted to keep that private, who knows.

I think the latter. Fame brought the teeny-boppers and they took advantage of it.

It's grim either way.

I can understand the fact that famous and powerful men might be tempted to fuck teenaged fans. It's very objectionable, but I can wrap my mind around it. But a nation-wide prostitution ring in children's homes, in a country like the United Kingdom, that's just insane. At the same time, it's also very Dickensian, so there's that.

Given the oft reported Elm Lodge list it's no great surprise that investigations are happening.

Innocent until proven guilty of course, but that he would be the next example of an investigation is no surprise at all.

sadly i suspect it's common around the world, just Britain has begun to discover a lot of it. as we've seen with the UK cases, the rich and powerful are very good at covering their tracks.

This is quite surreal to good job to anyone involved in exposing these bastards don't let these sons of bitches get away with it. Even if some of them are dead at least the truth coming out will set the record straight about these horrible people.

I... huh... holy shit @ alll this scandal. Absolutely outrageous, insane and sad. Doubly so, if institutions like the BBC were also complicit in hiding this.

Oh Cliff,
Sometimes it must be hard not to feel as if,
You really are a cliff
When fascists keep trying to push you over it,
Are they the lemmings or are you Cliff,
Or are you Cliff,
Or are you Cliff.

RIP

Man, you have to feel sorry for the poor sods who have to edit all the "best of Top of the Tops" type shows (themselves a workaround to remove Saville) to constantly remove more and more people.

It must have been hard to be an abuse victim with an abuser who nobody would believe is an abuser if you told people about. The abused, "I was abused by A." Average everday citizen "Fuck outta here with that bullshit!". Really sad.

Cliff was too easy.

Who wants to guess the next one?

I'd like to put money on the cast of the Tweenies and this guy:

Sometimes when I'm skipping through channels I come across this lad and I'm slightly concerned.

Bruce Forsyth

Absolutely.

I don't think the game of shouting names trying to guess who will be the next one is a good game unless you have a little bit of evidence to back your claims. Not to mention it is not funny at all.

Not Mr Tumble! For a kids show host he is actually pretty good, plays slapstick comedy very well (He was a favourite of my nephew-in-law).

What, United Kingdom is a fairytale land of happyness and wonder? I don't understand.

Holy Fucking Shit at this article...
Weird thing is that isn't the first time I've read the rumour about why the lady mentioned was shot.

It's so messed up that rumours like that are even remotely plausible.

Of course not, but the underbelly is seedier than many expected.

Personally, I think there is something about all this that is awfully 'British'. Public schools and old boys networks and all that.

Cadres within the UK establishment appeared to have used institutions that cared for children as all you can eat brothels. While the 70s entertainers getting collared acts as a distraction, those who were and in some cases still are in power remain untouched. Sickening.
