I thought this game only existed so they could sell you a Halo 3 Beta.

Ended up being better than Halo 3 and some of the most pure fun I had all generation.
I think the Tomb Raider reboot surprised a lot of people. Course, it didn't help that the dev was out there talking the whole 'you'll want to protect her' deal.
I'm kinda getting that vibe with The Order and RAD saying all the wrong things.
DmC is a good game but it didn't serve out crow.
That is to say the fans expected inferior combat, no lock on, 30 FPS and dumbed down mechanics which NT provided along with the game selling worse. Most people actually expected a better presentation/story than previous DMC games so even if you think DmC excelled in those areas that doesn't really count as crow eating.
I ate crow on Godhand. I thought it looked mediocre from the trailers but after playing it I ate crow.
This is probably the correct answer.Demon's Souls. A lot of people discounted it as janky and weird pre-release, only for it to go on and become one of the most important games of last gen.
Being inferior to its predecessors and selling worse than all of them qualifies as serving crow now?

Eh, it's ultimately subjective but I still legitimately think DmC was the worst game I personally played in 2013. The gameplay stripped a ton of things from the DMC formula, contributed nothing new in place of any of that, and the story/writing was stunningly awful.
Just started playing this game and goddamn is it good. I remember when people were talking so much shit about it.
I can see that if you didn't play a lot of games in 2013.
The story is fucking garbage, won't argue about it.
Everyone thought Super Smash Bros Brawl would be amazing. Much crow was served.
Agreed... I was tentatively excited for the game considering I never though it could live up the original. I was extremely pleased when it came close.Deus Ex: Human Revolution is a pretty big one. The original game is held to an impossibly high standard by the PC elite, and HR is the sequel to the almost universally reviled Invisible War. But it turned out pretty great in the end.
Uc2 multiplayer was ruined in patches.Uncharted 2 multiplayer.
Assassins Creed Brotherhood multiplayer.
Mass Effect 3 multiplayer.
The Last of Us multiplayer.
I'm seeing a trend.

There was also Batman on NES which is regarded as a classic. And Marvel vs Capcom I suppose, though it's not strictly a "superhero" game I guess.Yeah I remember playing this, it was great, but come on dude, that was a lightning strike that has yet to strike again.
True, but they don't seem to have any complaints about the graphics. The sailing, triforce hunting, easy dungeons, and small size of the islands are their targets of ire. Nowadays WW's graphics are universally praised as far as I can tell.Isn't there a sizable potion of Zelda fans who don't like Wind Waker?
Admittedly 2013 was a bit of a down year for games for me. But I also actively don't pursue games that I know look bad / wont mesh with my tastes. Colonial Marines being the exception.
Hahaha true that.
Would you guys say the PS3 itself was crow? $599USD and nogaems was a thing for a while.
Haha.Usually the argument you encounter was DMC 4 didnt sell well so a reboot was needed.
Both are shit though. The only difference being was that UC2's MP was good until they made it bad. TLOU was bad out of the gate.
Uc2 multiplayer was ruined in patches.
brotherhood apes the ship. Once people knew this you knew it would be at least decent.
Lou multiplayer isn't that good but keep fighting that good fight.
UC2's MP, TLoU's MP
Probably this one http://hellqvistper.com/images/articles/cut-scenes_powerful_yet_often_missused_examples_from_dark_souls/travel.png[IMG]
I know you're joking but it is both figuratively and literally correct. I don't think anyone could have predicted the three soul games to continue hovering in the 89-92 range on metacritic.

Super Mario 3D World. NOBODY WANTED IT. Then it became GOTY for many.
Mass Effect 3s multiplayer is definitely a good choice.
Oh I'd say Killzone 2
after that trailer debacle they really did get awfully close, all things considered
Bulletstorm.
