PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4/PSP) | February 2014

I'd be happy if SS Delta even does 70k first week in Japan. SS Delta is getting almost no hype compared to what SS had.

That's because it was hyped as a Monster Hunter replacement... then people played it. I'm not some Japanese culture expert but I'm sure most of the MH vets that bought the game were disappointed. It was trying to do it's own weird thing instead of trying to be a good MH clone.

Yeah, I guess Toukiden took all of the Vita's MH audience. SS still has a long way to go to match the depth of MH, but I hope some people are sticking with it.

Why not? SS sold pretty good. Now the vita userbase almost doubled since SS, the vita image improved, the gameplay changed to reach some MH fans, graphics are much improved, and review scores are higher.

I think that 250k LTD is possible.

There looks to be a lack of interest in Delta. The trailers aren't getting a tonne of views on SCEJ's Youtube account, and it's only in the 28th spot on Amazon with a week until release.

I don't think Japan agrees. Here's some user reviews for the two games:

Soul Sacrifice: Amazon, Mk2
Toukiden: Amazon, Mk2

Hint:
They're exactly the same.

Welp my toukiden funds got spent on today's sales. Looking forward to finally checking out Dragon's Crown. And a random Lumines sale was a pleasant surprise as well

Is Neogaf working in Chrome for everyone? Edit: Nvm, working now. Weird.

Yes you can... In Asia:
Final Fantasy X-2 retail: Click Me

That is one of the reasons I cheapened out on buying the FFX games. I have to buy DW8XL and PDf. Probably Deception IV though I have to see other's perception of that game.

30 bucks each for the Asia English release. Physical release with the superior Japanese box art.

wait, wait, wait... I can buy an English subtitle Asian version? Confirm and I'll order right now.

yup. I double checked the link I posted. Click the link and it says the ff:
Release Date: March,2014
Language: Japanese (TBC)
Subtitle: English (TBC)

The back of the box says only the manual is English. :(

that's a solid score right?
hope it moves more Vita units.
this handhelds need more Japanese developers...

Japanese games are where it is at
Anytime anyone ever quotes Famitsu it's because they gave the game either a 39/40 or a 40/40. The Famitsu review is basically an official "This game is not utter shit" nicety review.

Bought P4A ( YAY MORE RISE ) and Lumines. Fucking sales. Taking up all my FFX HD Vita money.

One of these days, I will get the hang of the Lumines demo and buy the full game. Today is unfortunately not that day.

Still, you should buy the game at that sale price. It only goes on sale once a year. (Last time was on March 2013)

Yup, I'm pretty sure this is the case. Only the manual is in English for the Asian releases. There is no version of the games that are Japanese voice/English subs.

Play the demo.

People need to teach me how to play Lumines. I've never been so bad at a puzzle game before.

Here's a short YT video showing the basics. They do a pretty good job.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KXqAhUKv1TY

That's all there is to it. the Vita version of the game also has some special power-ups, but they are mostly accessory.

Edit: Basically, you need to create big squares (made of at least 4 smaller squares) of the same color before the vertical line sweeps through the screen. The pace of the game is also affected by the song playing.

Just got Prime Instant Video and it feels so useless.
No Vita app? I'll just use Remote Play...ARGH...this app can't be shown in Remote Play ;(

Most of the stuff is in the shitty German localization anyway.

I can't have PIV on my Android tablet besides on that hideous looking kindle tablet .

btw. has anyone got a VitaTV yet?
kinda tempted to get one and see if I can play Toukiden on it.

does it count towards the 2 vita activation per account?

JP Toukiden works but the US version doesn't.

And as of right now you still can't tie a non JP/Asia account to a Vita TV so the 2 portables activation limit doesn't matter (JP allows for up to 3 specifically to accommodate the Vita TV, idk about Asia PSN)

AaaaAAAArfhhhgh if I buy this my funds won't be enough for FFX/FFX-2 Vita because I just bought Left Behind....
I was in the same situation. I bit the bullet. There's little precedent for it going on sale again. You'll only be out a $10 PSN Card. You have like 3 weeks to get that same amount of money back.

No 2 year Vita birthday sale for the EU?

Come on Sony, I just signed up for PS+ for the first time ever, and I want those discounted discounts!

guyss idk what to get! Any suggestions from people who have played these games? I have $20 in my psn wallet and I want to buy a Vita game..

I'm stuck between:

KZ:Mercenary
Ragnarok Odyssey
Sly: Thieves in time
Dragon's crown

but I'm open to any other games if you can convince me otherwise :p

I really need to pick up a physical copy of Lumines. Need something to put on my shelf :P.

KZ has great multiplayer. Campaign gives you a bit more freedom with how to approach situations, but the story isn't that great. Gunplay is great though and of course, the game looks gorgeous. I'd recommend it.
Ragnarok Odyssey didn't really grab me. The game is very repetitive, with quests either consisting of killing a certain number of monsters or collecting a certain number of items. I wouldn't recommend it.
I'm actually playing through Sly right now and it's pretty fun. It retains what made the originals so enjoyable while also adding some modernity to the formula, both in presentation and in gameplay. However, the framerate isn't perfect. It's not horrid, but if you like your games running at a stable FR I wouldn't recommend it.

Haven't played Dragon's Crown or I'd give you my thoughts on that as well (though it does look pretty)!

Bought Jet Set Radio, shit guys that game looks fucking awesome on the Vita. Controls are still janky as fuck :lol

I still can't get past the tutorial because of those damn controls!

Does Sly TiT require having played the first three? Or does it at least make the experience better if I've played the first 3? I may just wait for the HD collection to come out on Vita first.

Are you referring to the ps3 version? Because the vita version is way more stable than ps3 and retains 30 fps a large majority of the time

And Sly is a great game, the best in the series to me.

And no you dont need to play the previous games. Anything important is explained well enough in the beginning anyway and introduces all returning characters well enough. The stories are all fairly self contained adventures

You could probably go into it without having played the first three. Though I'm only at the game's midway point. The experience is definitely better if you've played the first three though. I'd recommend getting the Vita collection either way; will help you get attached to the lovable characters!

Really? Because I find I get slowdown in some of the more open areas. Hm, maybe I'm just imagining things.

Edit: Also, I'm referring to the Vita version. I'm at the
ice age
level and I find the game slows down a bit. Nothing too bad, but enough that it's noticeable.

KZ it is! I was wondering about Dragon's crown but I really enjoyed KZ beta, and as long as it has an active mp community, I'll be happy with my purchase!

I dont recall egregious slowdowns, i think there is some in the tiger boss stage but I thought it ran well. Ps3 flucuates way worse because it cant maintain 60 so the drops are huge and noticeable but it doesnt seem to go below 30 from I recall.

Here is a video

http://youtu.be/n7EQMCYkze8

Not the best vid because it doesnt go to the later levels where the ps3 performance issues surface but the vita capture looks about on par with what experienced. Some dips in the open world but nothing I thought to be a real issue

Thankfully I have some kind of mental muscle memory for that game because I played it so much on the Dreamcast. But yeah, they do fight you literally every second you're playing it.

It's a shame I never owned a Dreamcast, I'm sure I would have loved the game when it came out.

Have fun with the brutal melee :P.

Yeah the game's pretty stable; I was perhaps a bit too damning with my description of it.

Edit: Just saw the video you posted. Yeah, I guess I overstated the framerate isues. Should have specified that it's only an issue in most open areas.

Is that hatsune miku game good on vita? I liked the demo on PS3, but I'd prefer it on a portable system with headphones as long as it controls ok and not too much has been lost in the conversion. Plus presumably no issues with audio lag calibration on a handheld?

The Vita version is the 'original' and the PS3 one we got was converted over from the Vita version.

I personally prefer the Vita version over the PS3 and no lag calibration.

One thing I like about hatsune's game on the vita is the good implementation of star notes. That and I don't have to adjust to the so called screen lag so I can say that it is the better game. Although the PS3 one has HD graphics.

I just picked up Flower thanks to the PSN sale. I've played it before on a friend's PS3 and enjoyed it.

I will say that I'm really disappointed in the controls for the Vita. Motion controls didn't seem responsive at all compared to the aixaxis on PS3 which is strange because some of my Vita games have very responsive motion stuff (like Tearaway). And the touch controls were better, but still kinda sucked. I know the developers were going for an "experience" with Flower, but analog stick control would have meant I could have played it on Vita.

Thankfully the game is cross buy and I can still enjoy it on PS3 and even PS4 once I get one.

You know you want it.

OMG ;_; I'm going to go cry in a corner because this will never be real
I seem to miss the persona waifu wars by 2 or 3 pages all the time lol, not sure if good or bad....
where's all the mitsuru love guys????

In other news, I finished Danganronpa in 4 days - it's been a while since I've had 8h gaming sessions, once I got to the later chapters just couldn't put my vita down, sooo good. Was really surprised at the length too, took me around 30hrs to beat main story and I haven't even gone into school mode/ done report cards and trophy hunted yet. Really regret not getting the LE, had been thinking about it but ducked out last minute :(
