PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4/PSP) | February 2014

Now I'm really conflicted.

March 4 - Project Diva f
March 18 - FFX / FFX-2
March 25 - Dynasty Warriors 8 XL

The Asian in me wants DW (Same effect as FIFA for Yurop). Looks like a loaded month for the vita in the west.

I'm buying FFX at launch, Dynasty Warrior's later. PDf at a sale at some point.

Found this in my spam box. I doubt many people here would be too interested, but...

The vita community thread was also closed. I was angry about it for a while, since I was a regular there.

Don't ask me why both threads are closed. I don't get it either

Closing both those threads is just bizarre and really un-GAF-like imo. I'd hate to think there was an agenda behind it all but shit, nobody locked the 3DS birthday threads so what's up with that?

Anyway, 40 hours into FFIX atm and as much as I'm loving this journey I'm looking forward to jumping into Danganronpa as soon as the credits have finished rolling.

Yep, I don't really understand it either. I mean, Y2Kev posted there to say he liked his "PSMorta" and wanted 500x games on it. And there were more posts after that. I don't understand why it needed to be closed.

I wanted to post my screens :(

SO.. no vita sale?

So I noticed there's a screen protector by Big Ben on sale for really cheap on this website I frequently use, but I have no experience with either Big Ben or screen protectors... any thoughts or recommendations VitaGAF?

I hated them with passion, and there were too many of them

Yup.

I went back in the last 24 hours and tried the challenges again, but with no luck... ended up with 3 silvers and a bronze. The combination of the pros playing and the lower numbers makes that fucking trophy just about impossible.

Then I went and tried my hand at one of the "stealth" levels with murfy touch. What a headache. I immediately quit and went back to playing Spelunky and TxK.

Bought Neo Contra at the weekend. It was on my radar back when it released on PS2, but for whatever reason, I never got hold of it. Not much to say about it other than it's great, with one of the most amazingly OTT intros of any game ever.

Now I don't know if the original was has very good IQ, or if the PS3 is doing more than a simple emulation. But man, it looks fantastic. Clean lines, like it's running in high res with a ton of AA.

Pac-Man Museum (PS3) - Here we go, a real retro collection for a dying console. Great, idea, Namco! Anyway, you get Pac-Man (not really as fun as you remember, probably won't include fast-play mod), Pac-Land (great game, played the crap out of the Atari Lynx port), Pac-Mania (another great one, loved the Tengen version for NES), Pac-Man Remix (I'm told this is the remix on the PSP, not the superior GBA Pac-Man Arrangement), Super Pac-Man (who gives a crap, this one sucked), Pac & Pal (never played it, looks like Super Pac-Man), Pac Attack (SNES game based on an obscure Japanese arcade game, in the same vein as Columns; never played it). It also includes Pac-Man Battle Royale -- which has such a great reputation that it may well be worth buying this for that game alone. Oh, and some reports say you can get Ms. Pac-Man for free if you pre-order or order before 31 March, but I'm not sure if that's true. Also, the PS3 version does not include Pac-man CE in any form, DX or non-DX or even DX+. Suckahs! Digital only. (Interested. But I need to see price, and I'd surely prefer to have this on PSV or PS4. It's kind of criminal that they're not coming out on those platforms, but also typical. Grumble!)

I'd like to see this on Vita or PS4, also.

The PlayStation.Blog post gives the following (brief) description:

Experience the roots of this iconic gaming series with a collection of Pac-Man hits from decades past. Includes nostalgia-inducing oldies and modern classics like Pac-Man Championship Edition.

So, does this also include Pac-Man Championship Edition?

Herc's Adventures (PS3/PSV/PSP) - Ok, here's a little gem. I spent about two days with this game, back in the day, and I have this really great sense of amusement about that time. It was developed by Lucasarts for PS1 and PC, back before the Hercules movie by Disney, and has nothing to do with that movie which also got a PS1 game. I've always wondered if somehow that Disney game/movie kept this from getting re-released. But now LucasArts is owned by Disney, so perhaps it's all good now? Anyway, it's got a quirky sense of humor, and you should look up some videos and give it a look. (Interested. Yes.)

I remember playing this on the PS1 many years ago as well. It was reminiscent of Zombies Ate My Neighbors on the SNES and Genesis (also by LucasArts, although that game was published by Konami).

I've noticed that we've been getting 1-2 PS1 classics just about every week for the last few weeks, after having nothing for months. It's nice that they're finally opening up the vault again. There are still several others on my wish list that haven't appeared yet, but with the recent upswing in releases, I'm starting to become hopeful. Also, I'd love it if Sony would enable these games to be playable on PS4 as well.

Am I blind or going daft? Have Sony announced the EU PS+ titles for March?

No they haven't announced them.

I think securing a PS4 title every month when the library is so small is causing issues, feels like it's getting later and later every month for them to announce the next month's lineup.

Uh. Huh. Well, the original PR for this game I thought said that Pac-Man CE DX only came with the platforms that didn't already have that game. Maybe something's changed! Would love actual PS3 version of Pac-man CE if possible... since we only have the PSP mini at the moment.

Yeah, I've tried to wean myself off of nostalgia, so I've been mostly immune ... but as I noted, getting Herc's Adventures kind of piqued my interest. I'd love to see things like Tobal #1 and other obscure games, just to have them readily available.

Probably won't get a physical release... or even localised in the first place. ・_・

I'm sure someone will. It's not like there is anything else to localize right now. I remember XSEED saying they were looking into a PS4 title. And unless it's Lily Bergamo, there isn't much left.

Cool box-art. There is a PSV version of this game, right? Too bad there's no news of any localization as I'm itching for a new SRPG.
Yes, Natural Doctrine is coming to PS4, PS3, and Vita. I still have no idea how the game plays either.

Edit: Mandatory top-of-the-page Hatsune Miku Project Diva f recommendation.
