PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4/PSP) | February 2014

So the current free things on the Japanese PSN store for PS4 are the Dreamclub F2P thing (has trophies), an anime mahjong demo, and the MMO from Cyberstep, Onigiri, which features some pretty awful graphics.

The streaming PV has a lot of naked girls in a bathhouse though.

That show is sooooo good. I'm surprised that isn't gif'd and used daily.
CAN I HAVE IT?! PLEASE?
Eternal gratitude awaits !!

This isn't the free to a good home thread girl.

Oh wow. Just woke up to the news of Irrational Games shutting down. Goodbye Bioshock Vita dreams.

I would say that now that Levine is in a 15 people studio there is a chance we could see Bioshock Vita someday. It may be multiplatform, it may be time exclusive (like AC: Liberation), but it could exist.

Not exactly. For one, I'd argue that the majority of the cast in MvC3 is easier to learn, even execution-wise, than any one character in ST.

It's funny that you've been bringing up ST as an example, then, because that's probably the highest damage game that people play seriously.

I think you're seriously misunderstanding what you see on the screen if that's the conclusion you're drawing from watching a BlazBlue set.

Admittedly, more actions happening does introduce greater variance, but that doesn't make the game is dependent on luck - and that doesn't have anything to do with combos, anyway.

(By the way, blockstrings existed in ST, too. They're not new.)

1)i haven't played mvc3 so i won't say anything but i find really hard to believe that a game with way more things to memorize is easier to learn than one with less.
2)The video i linked showed SF2CE, not SSF2T ;) and no matter how big the damage of a single hit in SF2CE or SSF2T is because in the blazblue video you can see combos making 1/3 of life of damage and even more without any restriction(like the use of a bar like a super).
3)i see neither variance nor strategy in the blazblue video at all, all i see in that video is continuously spamming the same 2 or 3 combos hoping to hit, i find it really boring to see.

4)it's not Street Fighter 2 Whatever Edition vs Blazblue anyway, i chose two opposite games, they could have been others.

5)just to be clear my favorite fighting game ever is The King Of Fighters 98 that certainly doesn't have a lack of combos ;) but imo normal, specials, super and combos are all important and balanced.

This is how fighting games should be to me:

Ok so I just downloaded SFxT and I'm playing it but my neutral hand position is hitting this battle tap crap. Is there seriously no way to turn this off especially, with the back touch section of the Vita?

Do I need to buy an online pass for me to enjoy that flappy bird clone or any other user created content on the vita LBP? My friend is selling his copy to me but its in another region. You know how switching user changing account in the vita is such a drag so I might not buy it if it is needed.

The PSN store sales have been pretty epic for the last couple of months. Does anyone else find that you are hesitant to buy full price Vita games on release in case they are heavily discounted quickly (like Tearaway), particularly given that software sales for Vita games aren't that high in the west?

I mean, considering how Steam works, obviously a healthy store that encourages people to keep coming back and buy stuff is a good thing, but it does foster a 'wait until it's free/on sale' mentality. Still, I suppose anything more than a few months old is going to get buried on the store pretty fast. Perhaps the increased visability of the discounted/ps+ titles helps them in the long run by extending their shelf life, effectively putting them directly in front of customers again and giving them another chance at being picked up at a reduced price.

I've picked up loads of the discounted indie titles already, my memory card is filling up nicely.

Well since the games I buy online are pretty niche (e.g. Let's Fish, upcoming PDf & MonMon, EDF!) and rarely go on a sale, I am not hesitant to buy them at launch.
Any positive impressions on sorcery saga? I heard it's roguelikey? Not prepared to drop $50 on it on a whim.
I generally had a bad impression of the game but here are some positives that I like about it.
- Quite simple story. If you're tired of saving the whole world trope here you'll only save a resto.
- Quite easy to get into for newcomers. I haven't played many roguelike games and this is one of the easiest I got into.

Got Strider though, jonesing to play that once I get off of work.

Wasn't there supposed to be a PS4 Yakuza Ishin demo on the Japanese store?
Edit: actually it seems like it's simply not up yet. I guess it'll be up sometime before Saturday

not happy that the AC4 Freedom Cry standalone version is £11.99 whilst the AC4 DLC version is £7.99. what the fuck!
You expect those extra bits for free?!

In all seriousness, isn't there an additional cost based on the size of the download? I would think the standalone version is HUGE in comparison.

Is Rayman Legends PS4 out on the EU store today?
Store update says available from the 20th. Which is weird.

No Strider demo in the EU store?
Weirdly, store update says trial available for the PS4 but not for PS4.

Yes it is, its a simple but entertaining game.

It's pretty solid. It's entertaining and funny, but the gameplay definitely leaves a lot to be desired. I recommend it as the game is for the most part pretty enjoyable thanks to the entertaining dialogue and cool art style, but just don't go in expecting particularly good gameplay.

Thanks for the replies, will think about it in the next few days. Shame that it isn't crossbuy.

Picked up TxK in the meantime.

Gunslugs seems to be right up my alley, but where am I going to find the time to play all those games?

Weirdly, store update says trial available for the PS4 but not for PS4.

PS store update:
Nice list.

I wonder if this is just in the US, but R* is having a huge sale also. I thought I was going to be able to go a week without dropping much on the store...but all those classics.. I mean Bully AND Manhunt for less than 3 bucks!?! HELL YEA. I will finally get to be able to play them, easily.

Strider is not crossbuy, is it?
No idea I just want the demo, I still have to decide if I get the game on PS4 or PC XD.
I don't want to connect the US account with the PS4 because I just want to use one account (possible HDD micro partitions or waste of space disk) at least by now.

So I bought EDF before the sale ended. I like that the game is native res and looks ok.

But the game whose main purpose is to shoot large bugs disappointed me greatly with its terrible shooting mechanics. Also the sound effects for guns are bad and can barely be heard over BGM. Then there are the Ants animations that are really really bad. Greatly disappointed.
