Have you ever forgotten you owned a game?

I was reading through the SSB3DS trophy thread and one of the posters mentioned that a trophy spoiled something about Pikmin 3. Then I realized that I own Pikmin 3 because of the MK8 deal and I never even started it. And let's not talk about my steam games...

Has this ever happened to you?

Yup, sometimes when I go to buy games on Amazon I'm shocked when it says "You ordered this game on XX would you like to view the order?"

I can only name 10 out of my 50 steam games.

And I recently discovered that I have a copy of Heart of Darkness. Didn't know that.

Between Steam sales, Humble Bundles, Kickstarter, PS+ and random code giveaways half my library is a mystery to me.

One of my friends started playing The Sims 3 and I wanted to play too, then I went on my Humble Bundle account and saw I had an unredeemed key for it that I got in the Humble Origin Bundle.

I've definitely double-dipped accidentally, but it's mostly on Indie stuff for Vita and steam/Humble Bundle sales I've gotten and never gotten around to playing.

Only 50?

I remember a time when I said I was going to play every game I got off of Steam to avoid my library getting huge.

That didn't last long.

That is the best feature. I almost bought the PS2 Mega Man collection again but that stopped me.

I've also occasionally but rarely found that out on Steam.

Can a man truly forget that which never was?

PC version of Saints Row 2 is somehow in my steam library. I have no idea how or why.

All the time with smaller games on Steam. Sometimes I'll look through my library and see titles that I either don't remember buying or don't even know what they are. Usually, it's stuff that came from indie bundles.

But I also had a similar case recently where I found a stack of PS3 games that I thought for sure I had sold. Guess I just never got around to actually doing it and forgot about them. It was stuff like Resident Evil 5, BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger and a couple of Rock Band games.

This too. I'm 111 deep on Steam and I also have GOG and Green Man and GamersGate stuff just sitting around.

A blessing from the gods. Give thanks foolish mortal.

PS+ games. I got really annoyed at one point that I never bought dark arisen for dragon's dogma, and I couldn't get it separately, then I realized that PS+ gave it to me for free.

Yes, happens on humble bundles every time. Outside of that I have like 4 copies of FTL and only intended to buy 2 or so of them

I haven't since I keep everything categorized(physical) and organized, plus I'm good remembering what I got off hand.

Steam + bundles = "I own this indie game already?"

I don't think I've messed up with a physical copy of something before.

The only games I've forgotten I own are bundle trash when I buy one of those cheap humble/indiegala bundles for one game. Doesn't really count, certainly games I buy and don't spend much time with though.

Sometimes, I got rid of a few games I never even cracked the sealing of (ie: unopened even though I purchased them in 09/10).

I do this more with dvd movies though. I forget I already have it, but still buy it when I see it cheap.

I just scrolled through my Steam collection and I've seen a few new names I didn't remember.

It happened before.

I don't even know what games I do and do not own for my Vita, so i don't even want to think about what games I have for my other systems.

Yeah, happens more than it should to me. Been quite a few times that I bought a game on sale, get home and see the same game already on the shelf. I've also bought the same Humble bundle more than once in accident.

Not really, I have a ton of games, but I remember that I own all of then. I can't name thrm all obviously, but if I see a name, I can tell you if I own it or not. Only exception would be Mario Golf: Toadstoll Tour, which I found out I owned last week.

Happens all the time with the cheap Steam bundles/random free games that sites give away. I've never forgotten about owning a console game, though.

Sure, a bunch of games on Steam. I've stopped buying games because they're cheap, though.

Also some Xbox360 games after I moved last fall and never plugged the console in again.

I can remember standing in a store when you could still buy real PC games at retail holding a box and trying to discern if it looked familiar. I have multiple copies of Dungeon Lords and Two Worlds in my collection.

I tend to do this for games I have on Console that I want to have in my Steam library for archiving purposes. Bioshock, Dead Space, etc.
