First FIFA 14 next gen gameplay

Yep that's FIFA! I'm actually a little more interested in what a next gen PES could bring, especially using FOX Engine.

Couple of serious framedrops to be spotted.

Also, if one fiddles that much in menus and settings, I'd assume that one can play the game at a decent level...

Those menues and design are fantastic! But the gameplay... man this is the same as Fifa 12 :/ What exactly does Ignite do gameplaywise? I couldnt make out any difference to current gen FIFA...

I'm seeing a few new animations here and there. Still, like all of the football games before it, without trying the game I can't tell if it actually feels better or not.

Looks just as frustrating to play as last years version.

If they wouldn't give it to me free there's no way I'd get it. I'd have said that they could have shoved it up their arse otherwise, but that would be in bad taste.

The mass-market consumers aren't going to see an awful lot of reason to upgrade their consoles unless the likes of FIFA and CoD are going to improve vastly over their debut 'next-gen' editions. I think you have to assume that these games are only using 5% of the consoles' power in order to not be concerned.

The only two new changes that I am aware of so far are:

4 players and all jump and compete for the same ball (current gen is 2)

More and better transition animations. In current gen FIFA if a ball is slightly too far away, when a player goes to kick it, the game slides the character model forward. In next gen they have animated the players taking an additional steps, slowing down his run, repositioning his posture etc, so he is able to kick the ball

Booooooo.

Looks exactly the same, think i'll be getting PES this year.

You can't honestly tell there's no changes from just watching a short gameplay video. You have to actually play these games in matches, and learn some of the changes and improvements. You'd be stunned all the cool things you notice just playing through each new fifa release.

Menus are slick as hell.

That's the thing. I put over 700 hours in 13 (that's what Origin tells me at least) and I just completely fell out of love with the game-play. I find it really weightless and the lob-through ball spam is gross. I've been much more impressed with the PES 14 gameplay, it seems to have a good 'weight' to it and the animations are just incredible. I was watching some recent gameplay of PES 14 yesterday and someone asked me who was playing. They were stunned when I told them it was a video-game!

I wonder how many generations it'll take to finally come up with a camera system and/or animations which makes the game actually indistinguishable from a TV match.

Right now, new soccer games look exactly like 2000ish ones, except for a few more details and higher res n stuff.

Lots and lots of generations.

Is it true that this year they've included genuine home and away chants?

If so that should be quite interesting.

I've been dying for years to find out what the pope said to the wanky Tottenham Hotspur when they went to Rome to see him.

Play FIFA with full manual settings, the way it's meant to be played. With those settings FIFA is the ultimate football sim.

Some guys will say that manual isn't realistic, too arcadey, etc. But when you don't think of it anymore and just play the game, it flows and brings a lot more of sensation, finally making matches tense like they should.

It will be a bless to play manual FIFA this year with the new DS4.

Honestly I cannot tell the difference between what i just saw and every other fifa in the past few years.
Gotta agree with this, gameplay seems like the same old floaty boring stuff that gets old after a week.

I like the new tiled menus.

Typical .. not a single goal, referee misses a clear off-side ... yep, this is soccer. ;)

Some of the animations look quite slick now though. Certainly going to benefit from full 1080p at a good framerate. Would be nice if they could not make the replays suck this gen though.

I think the new PES is the closest. But they have tried to match color settings with real photos and angles...I remember an old dev interview that showed the process.

if you watch the new PES videos for PS3, their animation system looks like the most life like yet....and their game looks photo realistic.

I was curious to see what EA Canada would do with next gen Fifa, because they are one of my favorite studios....but, imo, it looks like Konami finally looks and moves more realistic...and that's from a previous gen console.

imo, Konami made the mistake in not just porting a nicer looking verision of their current gen game..at least just for this year. I think they would've done pretty well for themselves. But since they didn't, my expectations are MUCH larger when they do release their next gen version.

can't believe I'm going to be keeping my PS3 right next to my PS4 come November.

I think how smooth the players look clashes with the people by the sidelines. I know I'm asking for something unreasonable here, but just a thought.

With so many games to buy from now to the end of the year, I'm actually quite glad this one feels so meh. I think I'll be able to resist.

This post is useless without gifs.

That's why I'm here.

Looks like FIFA 14 on current-gen with cloth physics and outside view of stadiums. Looks like something I wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole.

This exactly. FIFAs gameplay look smoother, but the character modeling still probably looks like claymation.

Related note: do you know why PES always seemed to look like it lost a shit ton of frames when ever it did the goal scoring animations? Aside from that, graphics were way ahead of FIFA imho

Hard to see if it looks better on this video it was far away. Animation looked better, i still cant believe they dont have every stadium in there for the top leagues though, they should be adding more each year till they get them all in its not as if clubs change stadiums every two minutes so theres not much risk in wasted work.

Hmm, looks like real HD Fifa - It's a little hard to get a good idea of how much the graphics have improved - looks fluid and looks like FIFA.... Guess it'll just be a nicer looking polish to it's current gen counter parts.

Because the old engine was ass and players didn't have proper footplanting and so forth.

But as far as FIFA goes, I'm certainly not surprised. Rutter claims FIFA is perfect, so when your game director believes this, there's really not much to do except add a few bells and whistles to the already existing animation and gameplay mechanics.

Why, Konami, why? You make EA go lazy for this year.
PES demo out yet?

This is why I respect Konami's brand much more than EA's. Konami basically said they're going to skip next gen this year because anything they would produce would simply be a current gen port. They want something new and innovative for PES 2015 and with the new fox engine I believe they can bring it.

I'll gladly wait for PES next year.

It appears I'm the unofficial Pro Evo PR around here, so I'll gladly inform you that it will be released on the 11th of September on PS3 and the 12th on 360. PC demo is soon after the game launches.
As a side-note, PES 2015 on next-gen will be the most glorious thing ever in a football game.

Enjoy your FIFER 14 on next-gen, guys. I'll stop shitting on your parade now. Those arcade direction shits are really addicting, I know. I've been there. Gotta go online fast and use my Messinaldo to dribble around 5 players and score using a finesse shot.
