EDIT: Special thanks for the Mods updating this :)

I'm actually really interested in seeing a proper Fable game without Molyneux's involvement. I actually like 1 and 2, despite their obvious problems.

That was expected. I'm not especially excited, but now that I think about it, I played all Fable episodes to the end (which is rare) and liked them. Well, it was easier with Fable III which was free. :P
If it is too co-op oriented, it may be a problem though. I always play those games solo.

The game was announced by director David Eckelberry, and although it's not Fable 4, it's a fully-fledged entry in the series. Set during Albion's age of heroes, 400 years before the events of the first Fable, it casts you as one of a number of different heroes - and your friends as three more.

It's designed for four-player co-op. Each hero has different skills: on-stage, Lionhead showed a Prince Charming-alike who's nimble with a sword, an archer whom you play from a third-person-shooter viewpoint, a female barbarian sort with a Yorkshire accent, a magic user whose spells slow enemies to a standstill. Here's the kicker, though: there's another player, who controls the villain, viewing the map from a top-down perspective and placing enemies, traps, ambushes and more for the four heroes to overcome.

Fable 3 was a step back from 2 in nearly every way but I still am looking forward to a new game. Hopefully they realize why people were so dissatisfied with the game, Fable could really be one of the best series out there if they came through on the promise.

Looking forward to seeing the game, hopefully it's actually shown off at some point during Gamescom, I mean they won't be bringing it to TGS and E3 is a long way away.

Well to be fair, I played Fable 3 recently, and I don't realize why people disliked it. It's very similar to Fable 2 but with several improvements (actually the only problem I could see is that it was too similar, and so maybe not worth the price of a new episode). The ending is even interesting and in line with what people expected with the game philosophy of choice/consequence.
I don't think it's the greatest game ever, and none of the previous games were, but it's a good one.

Somewhat interested I guess. Didn't mind Fable 3 aside from the technical mess.

4 player co op is always fun when done well. But since they couldn't really pull off 2 player co op.. I'm not filled with hope.

Online-only.
4 player co-op.
Strength of the cloud.

And we're done here!

At least it sounds like a spin-off so there is still hope that Fable 4 will one day come out and not be Fable 3 .. I mean it would be a damn achievement if they got the game to be worse than 3.

I enjoyed 3 myself, but a lot of the functionality I liked in previous games had been taken away or "streamlined" to an absurd degree.

There's a trailer at the IGN link.

It's 4:30 AM so I don't have the brain function to decided if it's actually realtime, but if it is, wow.

Edit: Looking again, most likely CG.

Hoody hoo! My wife and I both love the Fable series - much more so than any Sony (and other Microsoft) first party games - so this puts the XBOne a step closer to being purchased...

sounds like a Left4Dead kind of thing, could be cool.

edit: also, the trailer made me think there may be some kind of system where heroes are rewarded more loot/exp for killing enemies threatening other party members rather than themselves, which sounds like fun if done right.
