I'm unsure when the media will be coming out, but I have to head to sleep, so feel free to yell at another mod to update if I'm not around.

It's a downloadable next-gen game by Far Cry 3's creative director.

Very short teaser from Andrew Goldfarb

Ubisoft has revealed the first details on Child of Light, a small downloadable project currently in development at Ubisoft Montreal.

Developed on Rayman Origins' Ubi Art Framework engine and led by Far Cry 3's creative director Patrick Plourde, Child of Light is described as a side-scrolling "fairytale game" that captures the "Squaresoft spirit" of PSOne JRPGs Final Fantasy VIII and Vagrant Story.

...

Plourde says that he sees Child of Light as "a playable poem", describing it as Limbo meets Final Fantasy VI.

Platforms have yet to be confirmed, but Plourde believes the game is a "potential next-gen IP". The title will not launch on mobile platforms.

Child of Light releases in Winter 2013.

A 2D side-scroller with JRPG elements!?

If it's going to look anything like the new Rayman games, I'll start putting some money aside.

Will probably be multi-plat like Rayman. I'll wait for infos and screenshots, but it has 3 interesting elements so far:

- Miyazaki
- JPRG elements
- UbiArt Framework

Let's hope they don't announce it for Wii U and delay it 8 months again.

Between this, M&M X: Legacy, Rayman Legends and stuff like Watch_Dogs and The DIvision, you really can't fault Ubisoft for not trying every type and budget of project.

Well done.

This sounds potentially fantastic. Definitely on my radar.

This is never something I expected to hear coming from Ubisoft, but then again, I never expected them to do something like Naruto last gen, so I might need to think Ubi a little more versatile from now on.

either way, I need more info on this STAT.

Am I the only one excited by a game inspired by the art of Arthur Rackham? That only makes it a must-buy.

Sounds cool, I hope the graphics are more anime-ish than Rayman Origins/Legends, not actually a fan of that style.

Just confirmed to be using the engine, not using Rayman's aesthetics.

Also, Rayman Origins/Legends is one of the most gorgeous games ever.

Other than Valkyrie Profile, has there ever been a side-scrolling turn-based jRPG? Weird system, but it could work (hopefully it won't be as repetitive as VP).

I don't like seeing FFVIII listed as influence, but a gorgeous next-gen 2D jRPG with Miyazaki influence sounds very interesting.

Are both Naruto games internally developed? I thought they only published them in the West. And the game looks pretty good. If they port it to the Vita, and I think its fairly posible, i'm in.

Right now Ubisoft is my favorite among the "big three" (Ubisoft, EA and Activision). Although my favorite western company is still 2K and the absolute winner is probably Atlus. But yeah, Ubisoft is "the good guy" treating the Vita and the WiiU like they do. I know nearly everything is business but I like they are not ignoring those users.

Concept sounds great, I'm definitely interested. Also surprised it's releasing later this year after such a sudden initial announcement.

Anyway I hope this comes to a console I can play it on. Looks like it has a ton of potential.

Is this Miyazaki he mentioned Miyazaki Hayao the Studio Ghibli senior director?
Might get confusing because we have two prominent Miyazaki now :p

So that's a french Vanillaware game inspired with my favorite rpgs.. LOL, seems like something i would do if i was working in videogames there...
