(CBS News) The latest comments on Big Apple Pizza's Yelp page aren't about anchovies.

After President Obama stopped by and received a bear hug from owner Scott Van Nuzer, comments started being posted on the pizza shop's page on Yelp, a site for posting reviews of local businesses. With two 5-star reviews dating back to 2009, Big Apple Pizza's overall rating took a dive with new comments - from people living much further than the Fort Pierce, Fla., pizzeria will likely deliver - awarding 1 out of 5 stars.

Among them:

Mike A, Murrietta, Calif., who awarded 1 star:

"Well.. I'd eat there but after seeing the owner grab our leftist President I felt compelled to disrespect his establishment as much as the President disrespects our constitution. Shame on you Scott Van Duzer for thumbing your nose at all the small business owners this President has disrespected for the last four years. I guess you DIDN'T BUILD IT!
I hope you're prepared for many more Yelps like this!!! Maybe you weren't thinking, or maybe you are the only liberal pro Obama business owner, who knows.. but you won't get mine or anyone else's business for your treachery.

Andrew B, Meza, Ariz., who awards 1 star:

Owner states he is a Republican that supports Obama.

Greg S., Cottonwood, Ariz., who awarded 1 star:

Talk about committing business suicide. After picking up Obama, your books are gonna be in the red pretty soon. Not too smart.

Yet they were quickly outnumbered by positive Yelp comments - also originating far from Florida - from people awarding five stars, and bringing the shop's overall rating back up. Among them:

Nathan C of Cambridge, Mass., gave five stars:

Simply to balance out the idiots, like Mike A., who are reviewing a place because the owner was able to not hate someone that they did.

Ann S., Phoenix, Ariz, awarded 5 stars:

Congrats to one of the many small business owners in America! You help make up the backbone of this country. May you prosper for many years.
I am sorry Big Apple Pizza now has a politically-charged yelp, but woot! woot! for all the free publicity you have received!
Go America! Go all small business owners!! You one-star posters...you are looking like the Republicans who have voted against every single jobs bill. America is better than that.

Carl F., N.Y., awarded 5 stars:

These reviews demonstrate that the right-wingers DON'T support small businesses. They support small businesses that agree with their stinking POLITICS, which is the same thing as not supporting small businesses AT ALL.

Conscientious S., Oakland, Calif., awarded 5 stars:

Pizza is awesome, New York pizza is the best in the world, and if this place sells "Big Apple" pizza it must be worth a visit!
This review brought to you by a political independent who thinks it's wrong to vote down a business you've never visited just because the owner was hospitable to the President of the United States.

Aris D., Urbana, Ill., awarded 5 stars - and a particularly unsavory wish:

Good stuff...and the morons who vote 1 star because of politics, I hope you eat somewhere else and get the runs for a lifetime...and everyone is better off that you won't be around this restaurant.

Oh, that's not what this is about?

Also, Yelp is a fucking cesspool.

Pretty sure all of those are going to get deleted. Yelp is good at deleting clearly fake reviews.

Biggest problem I have with Yelp is that 90% of reviews are terrible. I remember trying to find a Saloon in Georgia that could do dreadlocks while visiting and every hair saloon being a 1/5 because 6 people couldn't pay with checks, or had to wait 15 minutes past their scheduled time, or hated the noise of people talking.

it's impossible to find anything of merit there because most of the reviews are put up by shitheads. It's like if you tried to pick what video game to play next based on gamefaqs reviews.

Reading some of the comments... the perpetuation of the "Obama says we didn't build it!" mis-interpretation fiasco is ridiculous. I won't make any claims about brainwashing, but I will say that anyone who spouts that BS is simply admitting to the world that they have no idea what they're talking about.

And that isn't even touching on how childish this whole thing is. Yikes

Apparently there's a boycott of his restaurant now.

It's too bad. He sounds like an incredibly nice guy:

Van Duzer’s June bike-trek was part of his Van Duzer Foundation, and helped raise awareness for blood donation shortages. Founded in 2008 to support a local firefighter whose house burned down, the foundation has since raised more than $600,000, Van Duzer said. Van Duzer said he rode with a few kids from the Boys and Girls Club and met with U.S. Surgeon General Regina M. Benjamin to discuss blood shortages.

Yea it's kind of a crap shoot. I often find it helpful for bigger establishments where you can read through multiple reviews and get the gist. I mostly use it for restaurants.

Next time, I suggest searching for a 'salon' ;p

I created an account to scathe a dentist office that fucked my billing 3 seperate visits. 2 days after the review went up the office was begging me to remove the review. I declined 2 months later it vanished from the Yelp site. Do not trust yelp reviews.

Fuckin shameful. My mom's been telling me about the clients she encounters on a daily basis who boldly proclaim, "I don't care! I'm voting for anyone else but that stupid black guy." And the people I've encountered who believe that he's, in fact, a socialist... Hard for me to believe, until I see evidence for it in other parts of the nation. I sometimes wish that Romney would win so people can see how much worse off they'd be, until I remember that they'll just blame Obama for passing on a lousy economy to Romney :/

Fox News Headline: Democrats suppressing free speech!

If you go into a major urban area, the number of reviews balances out their individual quality, and if you need something more substantive, you can pretty quickly separate crazy people from literate people.

Also, Yelp is about 9000x better for restaurants than any other kind of business.

FOUND SCOTT VAN DUZER’S BUSINESS:
http://www.bigapplepizza.com/...

A google search also reveals he has created a charity called the “van duzer” foundation that collects blood or something.

I s’pose he can collect blood from a bunch of Democrats from now on...there are other charities out there that can get blood and plasma from people who work for a living.

By the way, maybe we ought to visit this clown’s place and just dine and dash....after all, he didn’t build that business, and aren’t we all entitled to the fruits of his labor?

GOP base, everybody.

Wait, I thought we weren't allowed to protest businesses for their "opinions?" I'm sure Mike Huckabee and the Palins will stand up for this guy's right to free speech also.

That said, as been proven in the past, protests like this will only serve as free marketing.

Indeed. I use it to search for strip clubs.... which are restaurants! Kinda.

Damn, I hadn't even thought of that. Cold blooded.

How can you pretend to take the moral highground while doing things like this? Attempting to hurt a small business that you've never been to and have no idea of the quality of food or the service?

And no, this is not comparable to Chick-Fil-A until it's shown that this guy donates money to organizations that attempt to infringe upon human rights.

Republicans are hateful as fuck, I want some of the lowkey republicans on this forum to come in here and defend this.

"Boycotting Chick-fil-a is wrong because free speech and first amendment and yadda yadda."

"Hey this guy is voting for the guy we don't like let's boycott his shit."
