Man Arrested For Live Assault On TV Reporter - Grabs mic, screams "I am that Nigger!"

APRIL 19--In the midst of a live TV report about a South Carolina crime crackdown, a 20-year-old black man last night shoved a female reporter, grabbed her microphone, and screamed, "I am that nigger!" into the camera.

Shortly after bumrushing reporter Ashley Taylor, 23, during her report on the 11 PM news, Justin Moore, 20, was collared by Myrtle Beach cops. Taylor, a reporter with WMBF, an NBC affiliate, was not injured during the incident.

According to a Myrtle Beach Police Department report, Taylor told cops that "4-5 black males" approached her crew as they prepared for a report. "When she went live with her report one of the black males pushed her to the side almost to the ground and ripped the microphone from her hand."

After interrupting the broadcast, Moore ran off "laughing and yelling," reported police. He was later located by cops--who examined video of Taylor's report--and apprehended after he attempted to flee. Moore, a Charlotte, North Carolina resident, was also positively identified by Taylor.

Moore, pictured in the above mug shot, was charged with misdemeanor assault and battery, disorderly conduct, and resisting arrest. He is being held in the Horry County jail in lieu of $1356 bond.

Before Moore interrupted her broadcast, Taylor was planning to report on how escalating crime rates were impacting businesses along Ocean Boulevard, where she had set up with her crew. Immediately after Moore yelled "I am that nigger," WMBF cut away from Taylor's report.

In common law, assault is the tort of acting intentionally, that is with either general or specific intent, causing the reasonable apprehension of an immediate harmful or offensive contact. Because assault requires intent, it is considered an intentional tort, as opposed to a tort of negligence. Actual ability to carry out the apprehended contact is not necessary.

As distinguished from battery, assault need not involve actual contact—it only needs intent and the resulting apprehension. However, assault requires more than words alone. For example, wielding a knife while shouting threats could be construed as assault if an apprehension was created. A battery can occur without a preceding assault, such as if a person is struck in the back of the head. Fear is not required, only anticipation of subsequent battery.

Three elements must be established in order to establish tortious assault: (1). the plaintiff apprehended immediate physical contact, (2). the plaintiff had reasonable apprehension (the requisite state of mind) and (3). the defendant's act of interference was intentional (the defendant intended the resulting apprehension). But intent for purposes of civil assault can be either general or specific. Specific intent means that when the defendant acted, he or she intended to cause apprehension of a harmful or unwanted contact. General intent means that the defendant knew with substantial certainty that the action would put someone in apprehension of a harmful or unwanted contact.

This is more of that "new tone" that liberals talk about. Maybe obummer will give a speech tomorrow talking about how that dude looks like his son (if he had one.) I did notice that the mic looks dark brown/black and maybe dude felt it was being racially oppressed by "the man", or in this case, "the woman" and was trying to set it free. Besides the hoodies, now look for protesters with mics in hand at protests..fighting the power....what a bunch of shit.

That is perhaps the most obnoxious news report I've ever heard. I can't believe that reporter is trying to spin herself as a "victim."
 
Yeah I thought she got tackled down or punched or something. Didn't think it was just some guy grabbing the mic and yelling.
 
I love how she says she now knows how the victims of crime feel because a black guy took her microphone.

lol are you fucking serious? they are acting like he punched her in the face and took the mic. he basically did what bunch of freaking people have done in the past.
 
Is this a joke? Their exagerrated intonations, stupid expert witness, and the quote "every day I tell victim's stories . . . but now I've experienced first hand how important victim's advocates are." are you fucking kidding me? I'd like to slap everyone involved in that story.
 
After coming from this thread, I can't help but look at this in a different light than I would have before.

I really have to ask whether there would even be a report on this if the mic grabber was white.
