Today, more than 1.5 years since the last one, Nintendo finally released a new Firmware update for the Wii U. This is a pretty big one, that adds compatibility with Switch games, but also controllers and... ok, ok, that's a lie.

Here's the actual "patchnotes":

Further improvements to overall system stability and other minor adjustments have been made to enhance the user experience

Interesting! I hope this doesn't affect vWii mode in any way...as I have the Homebrew channel installed on there and kind of worried this update might brick the entire system...

Obviously mainly just to block the modding of the console, if you do or plan to mod your console don't update to this yet

Even PS3 updates still to this day to mainly block modding

They should patch the system to enable homebrew for everyone who owns it. Even then they couldn't make it up for the abortion of a system called WiiU.

I dont normally do homebrew but I didnt hesitate one moment when modding my WiiU. What a joke of a system.

To be fair there are lots of wiiu games that is or will be avaliable on the switch that could be pirated using methods that are open when using the browser method so it kindaaaaa makes sense
