Eurogamer: SNES Mini currently in development

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2017-04-19-sources-nintendo-to-launch-snes-mini-this-year

Nintendo will follow up its smash hit NES microconsole with a mini version of the SNES, sources close to the company have confirmed to Eurogamer.

The SNES mini (or, to continue Nintendo's official branding, likely the Nintendo Classic Mini: Super Nintendo Entertainment System) is currently scheduled to launch in time for Christmas this year. Development of the device is already under way, our sources have indicated.

Nintendo's plans for SNES mini are also a major reason why last year's NES mini did not see a reprieve from discontinuation, Eurogamer understands, despite the latter's continued popularity and sell-out status.

I look forward to being unable to purchase it.

Sounds awesome but I'm not going to even look at it. I was burned on not getting a nes classic.

If they are well stocked and actually on store shelves I would think about it.

Great for those that can get them.

Sorry for my unenthusiastic response, but after the Nes Mini fiasco, im less excited , than i should be.

I guess I will be going to Walmart at 6AM again. I have to think this will be a much more appealing product for me personally. I think the NES Classic is great but I prefer SNES games in general.

Good, NES Classic Mini was not exciting for me...but missing out on the SNES growing up means I'll actually put some effort into getting this.

inb4 "lol good luck"

I was super lucky to get an NES Mini at retail price. I don't think I'll be lucky enough this time around, unless Nintendo learns their lesson.

They won't learn their lesson, will they?

SNES mini = raspberry pi type internals with downloadable (reasonably priced) ROMs from the Nintendo store, no BS preloaded games (except for maybe a few like SMW). Which is what they should've done to begin with with the NES mini but they didn't think it through.

Captain Obvious here with the spoilers:

Yes, it's coming.
No, you won't find one.
Yes, it'll be discontinued too soon.
No, you won't find one before that.
Yes, a RPI with Retropie is cheaper and exponentially easier to find.

And a wild guess: no, it won't come with an USB port this time.

forget it nintendo. the NES mini is a joke. i'm sure it's a great product. i would love one! but obviously they are clueless. they didn't make enough and couldn't keep up. of course then decide to discontinue it after 5 months. it's supposed to cost £50 but a quick look on amazon they range from £80-500.

It will be the same novelty items as the NES mini, but with SNES games. If that's not enough for you, just build one yourself with a Raspberry Pie? It clealry is enough for more than enough people.

Wonder if Nintendo only want to produce this and the NES Classic during the fall for the holiday shopping period.

Otherwise why eat into the Switch sales during the other 9 months?

Bullshit round 2.

Nintendo cancelling the nes classic as soon as they did will only fuel even more scalping. I have zero faith they learned a fucking thing and it'll be a ghost in retail too.

Fuck Nintendo.
