Looks great, excited to see what Bigelow's been cooking up. Big fan of her last couple films, and it's exciting to see her tackle different material. Hope she pulls it off.

Can't wait for those people that are gonna get mad about this, and the eventual review from that scumfuck Armond White

This looks good.

Now we need an unapologetic movie about that other terrifying night in America no one likes to talk about -- May 31st, 1921 in Oklahoma.

Oh this looks promising. Also, these riots were one of the first cases of computer assisted reporting done by Philip Meyer. One of the milestones for modern journalism.

Hurt Locker was overrated yes, but I really liked Zero Dark Thirty

This one looks fantastic though!

Hurt Locker is great if you don't go into it with the thought process of: "This won best picture huh? Let's see if it's actually worthy." Which, tbf, is an understandable phenomenon when watching any BP winner.

I managed to see it in the theater, 6 months before winning any awards, going in mostly blind and it blew me away.

Looks great. Definitely etched into the soul of Detroit and the suburbs. The city and suburbs split in the ensuing decades rather then actually address any of the underlying causes. Although the DPD was reformed afterward, eventually. Watched the documentaries and heard Bill Bonds speak about it growing up. My great-uncle was Detroit homicide during that time but I never heard any family stories about the riots. He was assigned to STRESS after the riots.

This looks good.

The second Detroit riot could use some more attention, as well.

Just naming this "Detroit" is going for low hanging fruit imo. I know the name conjures up a decidedly racialized dystopia of absolute deriliction, but come on

This looks good.

Yeah, Jason Mitchell been putting in work. I hear he puts up an oscar worthy performane in Dee Rees film "Mudbound", which comes out later this year.

This look pretty good and very on topic nowadays is funny to see how little progress the US has done on the civil rights front since then.

That looked good. It's nice to see Bigelow still tackling hard material. Zero Dark Thirty is a near masterpiece that got unfairly maligned because people thought it promoted torture.

Im down for this.

Big fan of Bigelow, she's really good at making really tense flicks plus she's demonstrated she can tackle dark historical events in ZDT.

Hurt locker only won oscar because film snobs couldnt stand Avatar winning. So they gave a generic war movie with a generic message (soldiers are addicted to war) over a generic sci fi movie with a generic plot (pocahantas).

She can create a mean raid scene and is a better director than 90% of the hollywood directors but she needs to pick better scripts.

As long as it's better than "Imperial Dreams". There was a disconnect for me between the actor and the movie. I knew he was acting just did not feel for the character.

I haven't seen that, but for what it's worth that was one of Boyega's first leading roles. It just languished in post-production hell for a few years.

I feel like Bigelow, a very experienced director, working with a more experienced Boyega, shouldn't have the same problem.

Kathryn Bigelow made straight military procedural into a edge-off the seat thriller when most directors would try to Hollywood it, and she made it work despite the fact that events and the outcome were fresh in people's mind. For my money she can do whatever she wants as a follow-up to that.
