Further improvements to overall system stability and other minor adjustments have been made to enhance the user experience

Yeah, it's another stability update.

So...what was patched?

For a handheld that gets so many stability updates, I've never had one break since it was released. I've went from the first 3DS to the N3DS and neither of them crashed or anything.

Fucking crazy how much effort they put into their shit working.

Most of these are trying to thwart homebrew and CFW entrypoints.

A lot of what gets termed as stability updates could probably be more accurately be called "security" updates. They do generally improve system stability, but often in very targeted ways that aim to address specific exploits.

This is probably a really bad time to be complaining about this, but does anyone else hate that you have to scroll down in the menu to adjust brightness? It's been like this ever since the great menu update.

When I played my DSi for the first time in years it was super liberating, you didn't even need to pause the game.

I don't know whats more admirable, consistently releasing updates that nobody knows what the fuck they do, or consistently looking forward to and being disappointed by said updates.

I installed Luma3DS custom firmware last week the 3dsguide mentioned it's safe to update so is this update worth doing

Does this update come with GBA VC at last? I think the 3DS is stable enough for that!

3DS has been stable enough for that since day 1.

Nintendo just wants their promise to never ever release those games to the public to be 100% fulfilled to show they don't go back on their promises.

What does custom firmware add for the 3ds that makes it worth it?

ability to back up all your saves, region free, stream your games (N3DS only), custom themes.

and that's just the stuff that benefits everyone and is super simple. these things are so good that 2 of those are normal Switch functionality (being able to output to TV is the next step after streaming a game's feed from a protable) and one of the other 2 could happen after they start their paid service.

It is not because of that though. GBA VC would require suspend points and instant access to the home menu which the ambassador ones never have, cos the games run natively out of the DS processor in its GBA mode.
