Here it is, the next-generation of Nintendo 3DS Firmware updates!

New update brings Firmware to 11.2.0-35.

Further improvements to overall system stability and other minor adjustments have been made to enhance the user experience

Yes, I know page isn't updated as of writing, but let's not kid ourselves about the content of the update ;)

Edit: nvm, JP Support page confirms it's *tadam* just "stability".

I'd love a new function added with the stability. I want to see how much more tricks it can do without falling over! :(

I actually do get the occasional 3DS game crash on me. I wonder if these stability updates actually do anything with that.

Probably just anti-piracy stuff though.

Modules of note that were updated according to the reports linked at 3Dbrew:

  • friends module was updated. At minimum, this means the update will soon be required for online play
  • NATIVE_FIRM was updated, meaning some low level system code changed, but there is not much for specifics right now
  • The eShop got updated, but only in Europe. Not sure what that's about.

at least i did my system transfer business before the update this time.

these updates hit usually when it hurts the most.

Doesn't Homebrew have Firmware Version spoofing? Would that work for online play?

Except custom firmware has a toggle that allows access on the fly and it improves performance (see: DQ7)

You can approach it that way, but the cleaner and less risky solution is to recompile games individually. While the "just apply it to everything" approach is simpler, it carries a considerable risk, since it can introduce bugs. Unlike random homebrew devs, Nintendo actually have a considerable amount to lose from just turning on risky features like that.

And that also introduces glitches and even crashes some games. Its not something you're just gonna flip the switch on and call it a day.

70 hours into DQ VII with unlocked power and not a single crash or glitch, in fact I never hat one in any game and I have unlocked the power at all time via luma
