Since space games with decent budget are a rarity, and MoO just got early access, what are your favorite sci-fi space-related tracks?

Star Control 2 - Melee - way ahead of its time, industrial and sounded great on old PC speakers too

Mass Effect 1 - Normandy - Shepard Wrex Shepard

Starcraft 2 - Heavens Devils - cowboys in spaaaaace

Sins of Solar Empire - Defending the Colony - maybe too orchestral for sci-fi, great for sci-fantasy

Yes it does. Glad to see it mentioned. I love the OST of that game, I listen to it periodically.

I was going to post something different by going with Thunder Force IV, but the I saw someone combined the arrangement with a new intro and it blew my fragile head clean off.

Imperium Galactica II had a tremendous soundtrack to match the then stellar visuals.

Star Control 2: The Thread.

This is easily my favourite from that game. I don't really have any other favourite tunes from scifi games because, well, I don't really play that many:
Star Control 2 - Hyperspace Theme

Gives me goosebumps every time. Hell, I only found out about SC2 via the mods that someone gave me on a 3.5". Wasn't until a few years later I could get a copy of it (and a computer that could play it).

Came to post this. My favourite track is "Below the Asteroids", very nostalgic for me. I love ambient music as well and EVE has fantastic ambient music.

Also it's all free to download for anyone interested.

X3 is also great, both X series and EVE Online are my favourite space games, still play them regularly and have for 10+ years now. X series has some cool ambient peace and battle music like this. Always very immersive.

Also I love this track from Distant Worlds: Universe 4x game. Cool orchestral-style, kind of Star Wars-ish I think.

Another favourite 4x game of mine, Space Empires V. There are a couple of memorable tracks and they're diverse, from choir heavy to tracks like this.

Worth mentioning Nexus: The Jupiter Incident, very ambient heavy soundtrack. I like that track in particular because of the soft/faint choir in the background now and then. Been replaying this game actually this week, the graphics still hold up very well from 2004.

You folks have some great taste. I scrolled through the thread making sure I didn't dupe any suggestions, and y'all stole most of mine!!

Star Control 2, Starcraft, Halo, Mass Effect, and Homeworld are so great.

My two contributions would be Descent 2. Music in the Descent series was pretty great overall. Felt like Quake music with a sci-fi spin.

And Freespace. Particularly Freespace 2...
